Can a STOCK Subaru Forester go OFF ROAD?!

- Today we take the stock Subaru Forester up and over the mountains! With all-season and stock struts, we see how far we can take the Forester on the off-road trail when compared to the XT Forester on the switchback in the Lost Knife area. While it was a challenge, we climbed up the rocky slopes and into the valley. Where we made it a bit further before hitting the mud and turning around. While the XT had more power the turbo made it inconsistent causing the car to lose more traction than my 2.5 XS. Although, in the end, both vehicles made it through I think the Subaru Forester XS might be the best for off-roading a stock Forester!
The Forester: Built over a few years the 2004 Subaru Forester XS was built to test the limits of what is capable in an early 2000's Subaru with bolt-ons. Created for overlanding adventures it takes on the hardest offroad trails while having everything for camping. The Forester features: custom interior, rooftop tent, ARB rack with custom mounts, high clearance bumper, winch, Hella lights, transmission cooler, sway bar delete, offroad coilovers, AT tires, Beadlock wheels, overland kitchen and engine and trans skid plates. And to many people's surprise often keeping up with full-size 4x4s.

What should be the first modifcations to the off road Subaru Forester?
Hi Chase, this was a good watch, I highly enjoyed it!
Hey, glad you enjoyed it!!
Great content man! Looking forward to buy a first gen here.
Thanks! Nice, have fun!
Great video! We have an Outback were fitting steel wheels and Kumho Road Ventures on. Maybe a small strut mount spare kit
Thank you, there is plenty more on the channel! Awesome, that’s sounds like a nice build!
I had one of these- they're surprisingly capable off-road! Sure, they're no rock crawlers but they can do a lot stock! If you get a lift, skid plate, and AT tires it's even better.
Right! I may or may not have some of that on order haha
do yours have a low range? like the manual XS here in australia
It does not, hopefully someday I will swap it though!
i have the 04 forester xs i’ve been wanting to go beach 4x4 and am a bit worried but think it’s capable?
Sand can be tricky sometimes, but your car is 100% capable, I have lots of beach adventures in mine! I would highly recommend going with someone who can help recover the vehicle in the sand when going for the first couple of times though
Природа как в Восточной Сибири!
Oh yeah! I could see how they are similar!
Where's this?
It is a trail in the Ghost PLUZ in Alberta!
you still driving it? they last a long time if taken care of.
Oh of course!! It is right at now it is at 400,000kms and I still have plenty of adventures to go on!
Yes.
You know it!
@@Chase_Schrader yep… I owned a 2004 2.0 XT from 2007 to 2012… drove all over Europe… beach to snow with mud in between, it never missed a beat. Got back to uk & sold it to my Dad. 12 years on & this week he’s decided today to scrap it 😱 so I’m taking it back for resto. I was just browsing RUclips looking listening to that Boxer. 👌
Sounds like it was a great car, glad you could get it back to its former glory!

Hi, I checked it out because I always like supporting small creators but I think there could be some places for improvements. I would suggest maybe trying to tell a story with your videos and using multiple shots to do that! Best of luck!
Fiiiiiiiirrrrrrst!!!!!! :)
Oooo you’re fast 🤙🏻
@@Chase_Schrader This was a good video! I love the scenery there. It reminds me of where I like to go camping. Look up Yellowbottom recreation area in Oregon (here are some pictures: www.google.com/search?q=yellowbottom+rec+area+oregon&sxsrf=ALeKk00wARRXRug_TBc3IMVsyUjoMzS-GQ:1621794253505&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwia_oKztuDwAhUlJjQIHaJ1AwcQ_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1830&bih=957 ). That is where I like to go, I go out in the back though, not in the main camping area. I have lots of secret places I go there. There is alot more water here, but you get the idea. I love the videos. I look forward to the next one. :)
Thanks! It is such a nice place that is close to home! Sweet, that place definitely has the PNW vibes. Hopefully I can get out west and get to some of our lakes out here. Thank you, I appreciate your comment!!
Lmfao. Standard urban dirt road with homes. Yikes you're from the city.
LOL what?
@@Chase_Schraderhe’s saying that this isn’t “real” off roading.
Wellll considering it is classified as an off-highway vehicle trail that allows non-registered vehicles by the entity that maintains them, it is offroad but sure, draw the line where ever you see fit...
Satan is lord
Lol what
All HAIL SATAN!!!
