You know you're flexible and have a huge turn full swing when your chip shot feel still takes you past parallel! I defy any golfer not to laugh whilst watching that. That was funny. Classic John Daly.
3/4 swing…what would a full swing look like😂, but I like his explanation, I find choking down makes me stay over the ball more..really helps this old guy
Nicklaus observed many years ago that most amateurs play short with their irons, and gave similar advice. Of course, choking down and playing an extra club is going to produce a shot with a different trajectory, which must be factored in.
Daly’s 3/4 swing is a normal swing length to everyone else. Granted he isn’t as flexible as he was in his youth, but his normal swing is well beyond parallel.
I wish this worked for me but it does not. Whenever I choke down on my 60 degree wedge I end up skulling the ball because it is too hard for me to keep my knees bent through impact with such a short shaft. The bottom edge of the clubface hits the equator of the ball. I have to make the club as long as possible to be able to stay down through impact and not stand up in the shot. My experience with all of my clubs is that when I choke down it makes the ball flight trajectory too low for what I like. A long shaft gets the ball airborne which is what I prefer.
I'm hitting around 7 yards further with the ¾ swing on an iron. Making way better contact with the ball I think. Guys don't implement it out of insecurity, they want to smash the ball to space
“Just hit a 3/4 shot”....makes a full swing instantly after 🤣
3/4 swing speed, not backswing
I literally am watching this at 1/4 speed to see a 4/4 swing 😂
There's less power in the swing....hence 3/4
Nice. Already have more confidence. Thanks JD!
0:15 that is how he chips??
John Daly even putts with his backswing hitting his back.
His gut acts as a counter balance.
he literally just said an EIGHTY YARD shot. Yah thats how big an 80 yard swing should be, thats why you're short every time 🤣
Some of the best advice.

I am new to golf but not new to instructing. Daly is a good teacher.
3/4 swing lmao
Full swing the club is pointing straight down to front from his back 😂.
Love that guy. Thanks for posting.
John's 3/4 swing would break my back
Good tip-big John
Look at his back swing. Enormous. That’s where his power comes from.
Great Speaker
Great Advice
3/4 shots are not great for amateurs. But I would agree, always take one more club and see your scores improve rapidly.

Nicklaus didn’t see that 🤗 it is just what jack liked to do. Pros are useless in giving advice to amateurs.
Wish I knew this about 2 hours ago....
JD my favourite golfer and drink.
This is awesome!
Bro that was a full swing. he rapped it around his neck

Or ... have one length irons. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

Its seems simple but choking down on the grip will improve your ball striking!
But when he’s on tv, the golf commentators say, “John Daly has an approach shot of 225 yards…he has a pitching wedge… and he NAILS IT!”
This is a teaching video, he's teaching us what we should do. not what he would do.
I love it.... he says 3/4 swing. And does a full swing. Any amateur will fail miserably. Anyway it could be good advice
If you listen to what he says instead of watching it you’ll get it and he is correct.
Clickbait, I thought you were asking him how he downs his alcohol
his 3/4 shot is every else's 1 1/4 !

The funny thing is, my dad's been telling me the same thing for years...
Guess he's right... 🏌️♂️
nice 3/4 swing there
''swing it a little shorter''
Can't believe he gained all that weight back again......
I let the club do the work and nothing happened
That gut is massive but it doesn’t seem to bother him when he plays golf
Could have just stopped at choke.
Trump and Daly have a lot in common. Looks and values for example.
It's a golf Instruction video nothing political about it...
Pretty pathetic when one brings politics to a golf lesson.
I’ll never take advise from someone who dressed like that.
Weak bro. Straight disrespect to one of the greats
Good luck with your 50 hcp grinding
You’ll never win the PGA championship neither 🤣
And you'll never be a major champion.
Didn't your mom ever teach you to never judge a book by its cover..
