Hi! I just built my first gliders and they both glide just fine. Careful folding gave a good good glide on the first try. If you fly outside, watch out for the wet grass at night. Your glider does not like to get wet. This was fun!! Next stop, a full-size gym!
Very nice! However, one technical point; the turning doesn't happen because drag is increased or decreased when the elevator (technically an elevon) is moved up and down. It's due to a change in lift which induces roll. The lateral component of lift (now that lift is no longer vertical) causes the glider to turn. You probably know that and are simplifying it for the kids but I just wanted to make that note.
@ahsanaliali You can try cutting a little bit of tape off the front, until it stalls. Then add just enough tape to keep it from stalling. I am working on an easier to make, more stable design. I hope to have it up in a few weeks. Slater
@TheBarbieeBaybee What have you tried so far to adjust it? Adjusting is not easy. I am working on another design with simpler adjusting, but I want to try it with my students first. Slater
@rentatrip1 Well, the video is about is about using cardboard or something to make a wave and surf on that wave. I thought you seemed to be saying your gliders got lift from either blowing air or a thermal from the floor heater, which is a little different. So your planes would be a good candidate for surfing. In any case, yes, I'd like to see a video of them flying. Slater
@vonmark12 I'm sorry, I just switched over to to a revised series of instructional videos. You might have been bouncing between the old and new videos. Try again at sciencetoymakerDOTorg where it has all the new links. Slater
@sciencetoymaker - NO MAYBE about this I HAVE built & flown these cigarette paper Zig Zag airplanes - so did you mean to suggest that perhaps I should do it and make a Vidoe for RUclips ? ?
@Yugi1250 Look at the updates. I put them on the in the text box area of the RUclips video. You should also start with a tumblewing, then do the hang glider. And a simpler design is coming soon. Slater
@Gamer8065 Well, if it's close to balancing then that's an ok starting point. Make sure the elevators are the right angle, then add tape if it stalls, cut it off if it dives. I've been having trouble with my gliders lately, perhaps the humidity makes the paper too limp. I'm working or a simpler design. Slater
we used to make very light weight gliders out of ZIG ZAG cigarette papers - one paper would fold on glue joint and become a mini air foil we flew it over the floor heater in winter in the living room for competition. FUN stoned

Nice innovation to include the position of the center of gravity (CG) on the airframe.
Terrific job with these videos. Great attention to detail. I will try it out. Thanks for these!
@kitbricksto I am now working on a simpler, more stable design. Glad it works.

I added a link in the text area to where we are now. It's come a long way in the last 3 years.
you are the coolest science teacher!!!
its so satisfying when the plane goes around in circles

@stefano23796 printer paper is particularly heavy. If you go to the website you can see the latest developments
@Gamer8065 Do you mean that it dives?
Slater
@TheKitkey Final Cut. I have the pro version at home, but the express version for a hundred bucks has 99% of what you'll ever use
Slater
@WillysMarx Yes, that's right--wet grass is deadly to paper gliders.

what did you put in the front of the plane
yoel minase When you have a "flying wing" (no tail to help stabilize the plane), then you need weight in the front.
how do you get to number 5... i cant find it!
can we use it as walkalong glider??????
@sp0rtsygAl123 Links to all the videos are at sciencetoymakerDOTorg

I want the template of this hand glider please provide me the template
I no longer use paper. It is too heavy. Now I use foam. But here is a template www.sciencetoymaker.org/hangGlider/images/EZRhighAspectMed.PDF
can you give this pattern
How to do this palne
@rentatrip1 Maybe you can make one and try to surf it.
Slater
plz wheres the updated link because this version force closes on my life, maybe it will be gixed when I update
it works!!!!!im so happy
You must show how to make it
