A New Experience of Walking in Rastatt, a beautiful city in Germany

- Rastatt / Germany is a town in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Rastatt has a population of around 50.000 and is known for its baroque center.
We start our walking tour of Rastatt at the Residential Palace designed by Italian architect Domenico Egidio Rossi. We then explore the city center and walk all around this town seeing sights like the St. Alexander Town Church and Bernhardus Fountain.
Our tour ens in the southern city center with visiting the Water Tower with the Einsiedeln Chapel and Pagodenburg.

Some background information from a Rastatt born guy (lived there the first 25 years, visiting regularly since then).
Rastatt is a planned city from the Baroque area. Center piece is the palace, which was built around 1700 by the Margrave Ludwig of Baden. The big wall painting shows his wife, Augusta Sybilla.
The church is St. Allexander, the main catholic church of the city. The next building opposite of the church is the old town hall, Rathaus.
A pity you didn't went to the park on the other side of the castle, they did a great job to create a baroque style garden in the last years.
The tower you see in the last minutes was the water tower of Rastatt, in use till the 1960. The small pavillon in the park beside the water tower is called Pagodenburg and was the play house for the little princes and princesses.
Rastatt is a town of about 50.000 near the french border between Karlsruhe and Strasbourg. There is a lovely river, Murg, flowing in the city ( another part worth to be in the video). The Black Forest is only a few minutes away. Best time to visit Rastatt, imho, is late spring, early summer.
Places to see in and around Rastatt:
The castle and the park, obviously (you can see the Belle Etage by a tour)
The little castle Favorite in Niederbühl, just outside of Rastatt.
The Rhine river at Plittersdorf with a very unique ferry to Alsace.
Baden-Baden, a mondane spa city with a casino like in Monaco.
The Black Forest, Strasbourg, the Unimog Museum in Gaggenau...

As someone who lives 5-10 minutes away by train from rastatt and often goes there, rastatt is known for being a difficult and dangerous city because of drugs, gangs etc. XD it's still beautiful though.
