I bought them and installed the Barrina Grow Lights and I have noticed even after barely 24 hours that some "sleepy" flower spike were finally about to bloom! They are great Led lights for our orchids definitely!
Danny, you’ve come a long way since your balcony days. The set up today looks nothing like 8 years ago. I loove how your plant room looks today. I imagine what would it be like in 4-5 more years. Can hardly wait for the tour video!!
I bought these lights after watching your Milsbo video. They are great and my orchids are so happy underneath them. According to my light meter they provide the correct amount of light and are inexpensive to run. Thank you so much for the information on these.
Hi @karmie zen, ive been looking into these lights. Can you 100 percent say that using your light meter, it shows that the lights offer a full spectrum if light? Im looking into getting some houseplants, but have a North facing window :/ they're is sk much conflicting information online and it so overwhelming. I want to make sure i but the right lights :)
Dani, you have a beautiful set up! My orchids are on my screened patio facing East and they are thriving. I'm so excited that one of Vandas finally has double spikes emerging. The flowers will be a burnt orange color. I can't wait! Take care 🕊
This is so very helpful. I have one of these lights, not knowing they were good for grow lights, I installed one at my office to read blue prints. They are so light weight and yes the color of the lights are pretty, veru pleasant to look at. I'm going to get these for my orchids! And thank you for showing us how they can be installed in the home.
I just ordered these grow lights for a friend growing indoors, thank you for recommending it. Super easy to install and so pretty too! Will have an unboxing video of it. Thanks again.
Please do make a video about the remote control of light system. It is interesting to me and would be useful for everyone how uses artificial light and do not have that much time.
I just installed Barrina lights after deciding to try them when I saw your first video on them! I got a set of 4 in each of the colors and put the colors together like you did. It’s for shelves in my bedroom, which didn’t get enough light unless plants were RIGHT in the north facing window. Now I have a whole display of houseplants for my bedroom and I am hoping for better phal reblooms next season as well after a lot if summer growth! Mine are also on an IKEA smart plug, on a timer with sunrise and sunset Also, in the US, it says that you can connect 8 4-foot tubes together, And up to 16 of the 2 foot tubes. So that’s great for me if I want to expand my set up but still keep it all on one smart plug
did you get those from amazon? trying to find a combo pack but only seeing 'outdoor plant' or 'indoor plant' kits. did you mix the two? how is that working; please share what you think so far. thanks!
Another idea: I set it up with some Hue Smart Plugs for now! Also, anyone's plants turn a bit purple in color? I read that it's a sign of too much light. Do you just let the orchids get use to it or do you turn one or two of the grow lights off when this happens?
Its like I don't pay attention to your videos. I bought two little orchids from the grocery store. (small town small selection) and I didn't look them over. some black stuff on the underside of the leaves, dead aerial roots. Some dead spots on a few leaves. The store has bright florescent lights, and I only have windows, AM and PM. the previous flowers have passed in their sleep, as did the little buds I was hoping would open and didn't. I am working hard to keep the leaves alive. (one plant has a new growth :-) ) I love these plants and am so happy you are online to help me fulfill my obsession with these few plants.
The lights I do have for the plants don't seem to be bright enough since the store lights are so bright. That kills the flowers in a few days. I'm so sad, but wonder if they will get used to the lower light, or should I get a central light in between the AM and PM windows? I am such a beginner.
Wow! How awesome. I’ll never be able to obtain such a sophisticated system as you have but hopefully I can have something like you have, just on a miniaturized scale. I just have to say your collection is nothing short of amazing. Great video and I’ll like this one too for future reference. Thank you MOG.
just ordered my first set of berrinas can't wait.. they should work out great with a new shelf.. i needed more room some of my orchids are getting huge
I see some empty space that wants more Orchids 😁 It's also a beautiful day here in the Smoky Mountains! I'm doing some touch ups on my brand new greenhouse 🥰🌿🌺 I want to put in some grow lights for during the winter... do you think these will work for a couple of the shelves?
Loving this shelf set up Danni. My plants are growing very well in my Milsbo cabinet with the Barrina yellow and pink lights on a 12/12 timer. The temperature inside is constant and the lights show my orchids very well. I would love the cables on the lights to be a little longer so that I can vary the shelf height a little more but have no problem purchasing the more miniature in habit orchids - the larger ones may have to get a new shelf like the one in this video 🙂
What have the barrina lights done to your electric bill. really curious to know if the leds are efficient enough to not make a huge monthly electric bill increase.
Hi Danny, I noticed that you also have african violets on the shelf. Is this amount of light/distance appropriate for them too? Or will it be too much for AV? Thanks!
Question, for medium light plants like snake plant, zz plant, different kinds of philodendron like moonlight, Birkin, burle Marx etc, wandering jews, what color of these lights should I buy??? I have a 3ft long wire shelf unit. I seen they sell the pinkish white and the yellows. What color? Also how far above the plants?? So confusing? How.many lights per shelf on my 3ft wire shelving unit? How many fc?
Hi Danni, thank you for your detailed videos, I’ve been learning so much about orchids 🥰 so excited discovering Barrina lights through your videos and so excited they actually ship to Sweden! But I’m afraid the custom fees from outside of the EU countries will be hefty 😅
Do you have this Barrina setup for your cool growing phals? What about your catts? I imagine they don’t grow under the same setup. I put my cool growing phals in this setup and wonder if it’s a bit too much.
Danny I repotted my Phalaenopsis orchids and the healthy roots turned blackish color on top. I used repot me medium and distilled water. I did treat with fertilizer that came with a kit. What did I do wrong?
This may be a solution for our 25 orchids vs. a greenhouse (until Spring 2022!!). I'm assuming you have to water each plant outside of the shelving (correct?). Any problem with maintaining humidity? Great programs - thank you. From NW Georgia USA.
Question about an orchid I received as a gift. At the floral shop someone stabbed one of the spike support posts straight through the center of one of the large leaves. It looks creased across the leaf on either side of the post and the base of leaf is nice green color but the part beyond the post to the tip of leaf is a brownish color which has remained the same for 3 months later. Is it a stress on the plant as a whole having a wound in the center of a large leaf? Should I just leave it alone or can I move the post so it's not in the leaf anymore? Its a beautiful phalaenopsis with 2 spikes. A few of the original flowers have fallen but it has grown a whole new set of buds which have opened. Roots all look healthy and has a dozen air roots as well. There are 3 other large undamaged leaves and a 1 small leaf. Overall it is a fantastic orchid, I'm just unsure why anyone would puncture a leaf like that and if I should do anything or leave it. Thanks and I love your channel!
can you please post a short of your grow room at night with the lights on? it's hard to tell how bright the lights are with the sunlight coming in. thanks in advance.
Thanks for this! I’ve switched to barrinas, too, because my yellow dommias (from my petite garden) weren’t allowing the proper leaf growth on my cool growing phals (although they bloomed like crazy). I know you got those same yellow flat panels and was wondering if you’re using them elsewhere.
Hi Danny, greetings from Bulgaria. I just finished the artificial light setup of one of my shelfs (a multi-storage shelf). I'm very proud with it and if there were an option to upload photos in RUclips, I was going to show it. I added a power switch that turns on the lights at 10 PM and turns them off at 6 AM on the following day. Basically, the setup provides grow light for 8 hours straight. My question is what is the most appropriate artificial light schedule? Should the lights be on during the day or should they be on during the night?
Hey, Doroteya. Can you share what kind of lights did u use? Im having difficult time deciding where to purchase from, since there are no good information for bulgarian retailers...or i cant find any :) I dont mind if i have to make an order from a foreign country but if i have an option to buy from BG i will. Thank you in advance and have a nice holidays! :)
Hi Antoaneta, a long story short: the LED lights themselves I bought from AliExpress, because grow lights are simply not available here. They are 5m strips, 4:1 red:blue, smd 5050, 1 cm. wide, IP65 waterproof. I took 3 strips for about 12 BGN a piece, and with the delivery the total was a bit more than 60 BGN, which is a very reasonable price compared to what's available here for this amount of money. The next part was actually attaching the lights and powering them. If you're interested, I'll share the list of materials I used and a how-to.
I came home from an orchid show and sale today with 10 new orchids. One is a Vanda x Phalaenopsis hybrid called Vandaeopsis pulcherrimin. This cross is new to me. Can you talk about Vandaeopsis sometime?
Are the Barrina lights available in the USA? Or are they sold under a different name? Does anyone know? I need more grow lights to keep up with my expanding houseplant and orchid collection. Thank you!

@@codybrown4793 A typical light meter won't show spectrum I'm afraid, just total fc or lux. You'll need to rely on the manufacturers spectrum graphic.
My plants loooove Barrina lights! Ive had amazing growth with not only my orchids but my succulents and philodendrons love them too!!!
Did you buy the pink or yellow light?

I use the same command strips but the outdoors version because they tolerate humidity and heat better imo 😊

I would be VERY interested in a tutorial of the IKEA smart plug/switches with your grow lights. That would help so much. Thank you!

Kasa light timers also work great, highly recommended by a fishkeeper like myself and others

A very good and interesting idea, creating artificial lighting for orchids in a confined space.

14:22 I think you should be able to get a “C5” IEC cable and skip the plug adapter.

May I ask how many power points in this set up? I've ask the vendor they say not more then 6 tube per power pont🙄

Hi, if you check the dedcription you'll find my Amazon com store where I link them. And yes that is US Amazon!
@@MissOrchidGirl Many thanks! I thought they were from IKEA.
Why not put the power cable on the lower shelf? That way you may need less extension cables to your surge protector/multi outlet plug
Also you’d have less cable to hide
Good point! 👍
Seems like these put off a pink light ??
Hi, I use a combination of pink and yellow. The company advertises the pink ones as white tho in their listing, in reality they are soft pink 😊
