I didn’t think Burlington beach water was clean enough. Isn’t Lake Ontario polluted especially in that area?
It's tested frequently by the City to ensure it's safe enough for swimming... you'll find many people there most weekends. Just don't go swimming after heavy rainfall as that's when the levels are most likely to be off & I do not recommend drinking the water.
What if you see someone feeding the wildlife? Is there any authority to report or just give a hint to the person?
I start a conversation with them & gently inform them that the bread they are feeding is actually hurting the wildlife. If they challenge the fact, I let them know there are signs posted but don't argue with them. A friendly, "You can google it if you don't believe me" will usually get the point across. It's all about being friendly & not reprimanding since most people are not there to intentionally hurt the ecosystem.
Is it allowed to smoke weed on the beach
Public park spaces do not allow smoking - but there are definitely people who do. If you are respectful of the other people around you & walk away from kids, you will likely be fine. In conservation areas there is absolutely no smoking & no littering so if you sneak one, please do not leave any debris (packaging, butt of the joint, etc)
Definitely a few I still need to check out! Would Emerald Lake work for my teenagers? (Can you believe they are all teenagers now?? 🫨)
How are they already teenagers?! They would likely have a blast! We saw lots of older kids as well as younger kids. You're required to wear a lifejacket (bring your own or rent on site) & they have lifeguards so you can relax on the shore, or join in the fun!
