  • Roy is forging a campfire wok which is great for backcountry camping and backpacking, and also for use in bushcrafting applications.
Blanks for this campfire wok and wok spoon are available at www.blacksmithingblanks.com.
We hope you enjoy this video where Roy made a homemade wok pan. We'd love to hear in the comments what other lightweight backpacking cookware you use.

At least once per video, I say, “Oh, no. He’s messed that up.”
Followed by *tap* *tap* *tap* …
    “Oh. He fixed it.”
I learn something from every video.

So great to see you forge this project with the simplest of tooling to show it can be done. Thank you good sir👏👏👏

Amazing Roy! These silent demo videos are really nice, but the anticipation is killer - Roy has the gift of gab, I can only imagine the pressure building as you want to talk through what you are doing!

Love the new style of video mate, it works well. Intro at the start did add to the story.

Nice, saw the campsite cooking video a few weeks ago when you used the wok and spoon to cook for the family! Definitely two things I will do, thanks Roy!

Just ordered some of these to try. I will be taking a different approach to the handle though. My friends and I all work in professional kitchens and would like a nice wok so I’ll be making fixed handles and see how they turn out. I’m hoping my holland anvil block has a big enough depression so I don’t have to make one. I might try to make an add on handle to the far side as well. Love your stuff and look forward to more orders and projects in the future.

Great to see a new video & project Roy. Those turned out very well. Hopefully we buy blanks and other things off your website some day. Hopefully they get great use out of them. When you and your family camping trips and hiking trails. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.

Every time I see that old timber the right side of my brain says - railroad tie, and the left side says whoa there, railroad ties have all kinds of toxic chemicals in them. Have to wait for the right stump or log to cut into a proper timber!

    • @ChristCenteredIronworks
      @ChristCenteredIronworks  2 года назад +1

Funny you are picking up on that because Yes the block I'm using is a off cut of a railroad tie.. but it's straight from the Mill before it gets The chemical treatment. So both sides of your head is correct lol

"Wood" prefer a thumbscrew to retain the handle given that the wok will have hot oil in it.

As someone just learning and getting started I am curious what you would say I should focus on as far as skill building. I know nails are a common item, drawing out and tapering and that kind of thing. Part of why I ask is that I would love to support your channel by buying blanks from your site, but I'd like to know what I should focus on in the beginning.
    Thanks.
    Big Unk.

I would say small things like Christmas ornaments for giving to family nails, fire pokers , meat skewers, bottle openers , Hooks, etc...... Glad to have you as part of the channel And Craft 🙂
