Hello, my friend. It's good that finally you took out Enedwaith, though you lost your army because it was a defeat and you were defending a settlement... But nevertheless, the annoying faction is now killed and we can have a good breath before the next adventure. I agree in your general plan and I hope that you will build watch towers with your geenrals around, so as not to have blind spots. I remind you that you were sending Erkenbrand in Tharbad, so as to have a good general to defend such an important town. Personally, I would try to claim Harlond and give it back to the Elves, which are occupied because of the attack of Ered Luin. I also expect you to have better units, as now most of them are your militia. If you plan to hit Sharku with an assassination, then it can work, however if you go to war with Angmar, your army will get destroyed. You need to advance your economy and infrastructure and it's time to get the Eorling units as garrisons in various towns and retrain them and get rid of the low tier mercs. As for the Guilds, now it's better to accept them, or else you'll lose them and it's a pity. Now, on to another episode of the story: Before Eomer could accept the forces he had called from afar, a new problem rose for him, as a good Enedwaith army laid siege to Caras Nurneled. Eomer knew that Dol Vorn had fallen to Rohan, as Theoden didn't lose the battle, but this situation was giving difficulties to the Kingdom. And now, Theoden needed to abandon his own men to save Eomer. "I'm pretty sure that this was a plan of Saruman", Eomer told to Anborn, "so as to make us break our forces in many small parts and defeat them one by one". Anborn nodded in agreement. The battle, though was very simple, as Theoden did ride back with the cavalry, as well as the forces that Eomer had called. In this time, the Men of Enedwaith were outnumbered and decided to retreat to a nearby hill, however the Rohirrim chased them and the retreat became a run, as the Horselords cut down their opponents as they ran to evade capture. The battle last for too little time and Eomer met again with King Theoden. But soon, they were called by Anborn to the other side, where he and some footmen were standing over a dead body. "A messenger from Saruman", Anborn said to them as they asked. "From Undertowers, he guides the rest of the fight against us. As our forces are thinner and thinner, he has appointed some generals to split us up and take us down one by one. I caught this guy herejust after the battle, but he took poison before I could ask. But I had prior information and I know that he came from Undertowers, where Saruman still resides". At that moment, a footman that was searching the body- obviously under Anborn's orders- recovered something and gave it to Anborn. It was a letter, written in the Black Speech, that had a stamp with the White Hand. It was clear that it had Saruman's orders and it gave directions to five of the generals. Anborn read it to the others and suddenly his face was clear. "We have an interesting situation here", he said. "I see here five names of generals, but I know that we have killed two of them. Only three remain". "What if we could locate them and kill them?", Theoden asked. "We destroy the faction", Anborn said. "Saruman is clearly afraid that his plans of revolution against us has failed, as his spies and minions cannot come into our towns and the people tend to accept us, as we are superior militarily and we don't treat them badly, as Saruman's minions did. If we succeed to kill them, then Saruman is all alone- and we know where he is!..". "Too big forces", Eomer said. "We cannot hope to win those battles with so little forces". "Who said we need to win the battles?", Anborn reacted calmly. Theoden and Eomer needed some time, but suddenly smiled viciously. "My Lord, I am not lying", the messenger said. "Enedwaith is no more and the men have abandoned our purpose. Rohan killed our hopes, as they attacked straight at our generals. We have no more influence to keep the clans united". "Curse you, Theoden Horselord!", was Saruman's reaction upon these news. For the previous week, he received messages about few battle losses, as Enedwaith was open enough and Rohan showed clearly its thin lines. However, his generals fell in battle, as it seemed that Theoden suddenly had located them and killed them. And next, Saruman had no followers with a big influence, enough to keep the clans under his rule and influence. He couldn't get spies south of Gwathlo, which meant that Hama on Lond Daer and Erkenbrand on Tharbad guarded the paths perfectly and no one could infiltrate in the region. Thus, the circle around him closed. "Theoden outsmarted us", a man besides Saruman dared to speak. He lost his head the next moment with just a simple cleave by Saruman's sword. "Get prepared", Saruman ordered. "Rohan is not away, but they need some time to regroup before they step upon us. Reinforce our forts in all our territory and gather our forces. We'll need everyone. And beware of spies". The men around him nodded.
Pretty much agreed with nikos, although I would not bother about the garrisons. The militia is a good garrison unit as it becomes free upkeep earlier than an Eorlingas unit. They have no business being in your infantry line in battle, if you can help it, though. They'd do OK against Moria trash, though. You are not going to win an infantry battle against Angmar. Your infantry is there just to pin the enemy so that your cavalry can slam into them. I would send the depleted, high exp cavalry to be retrained, while you have this 'lull'. You can give Harlond and Undertower to the elves, to shore them up a bit.
@@anarionelendili8961 , as usual, my friend, you say whatever I don't and your opinions always matter. I agree about giving to Cirdan Harlond and Undertowers. Have a nice time, my friend.
31:50 Again, you could have left Theoden to govern and used Eomer's untapped movement to get him and the Royal Guard already moving. Granted, the rest of the cavalry would have played catch-up in that case, but just one of those things to keep in mind when doing this kind of back and forth.
Another excellent chapter and intro! Enedwaith made you pay for every inch of territory at the end there. What a brutal and bloody conflict. Rohan will be recovering from this for some time. Forcing King Théoden to use such tactics to finally bring the war to a close. It feels like you are going to need to time to reform proper armies and form new ones. Time for getting all the new settlements properly managed and growing. The next chapter may be alot of kingdom work and the task of taking out Sharkey. I think going after Sharkey next is the best step, hopefully resulting in Bree coming back around to an alliance. In my play throughs, Id say that Gondor seems to always have trouble pushing into Mordor. Even when they have all of those stacks, they simply refuse to ever actually besiege them to actually push in. Sometimes they will start a siege, but then just lift it in a following turn. so you may be forced to make that move into Mordor at the Black Gate.
I find the only way to get Gondor to properly attack Mordor is to take the Black gate and then give it to them as then they normally start pouring troops though
Another great video! :) Speaking of assassinations, do you know if it's still possible to force a sally out with sieges? For example if you only choose a general to seige, and next to him on the campaignmap there is a massive army that will "help out" with the sally out.
Hi Folks, i would like to play Third Age 4 so bad, but cannot fix the Error "cannot select Exe file. Need correct medieval 2 or Kingdoms" after installation. Im using german Kingdoms gold DVD version and followed the description with Antivirus etc. Any ideas?
@@Sapherzz hi, thanks for your answer. Yes, i unpacked all files in the modfolder. And its a new installation of Kingdoms. I played third age years Ago or Stainless Steel and never had such problem. Its all installed in the Standard Path, c/programmex86 and so on. I downloaded the new standalone Version 4.3. Maybe should try another Downloadlink or something. Greatings

Yes you can still besiege a settlement for the full hold-out duration 😁
