Muddy mushy tone with the worst bridge design ever created. Nothing gets lost in the mix quite like a Gibson bass.

Gibson has made good basses...but they're the ones that get quickly discontinued and forgotten about while sg's and thunderbirds get pricier by the year

They'd sound so much better if the pickup wasn't so close to the neck.
Halfway between the neck and bridge would be a good position for the mudbucker bass pickup.

@@scottmatthews172 It is messed up how gibson listened to players in the early 70s and moved that pickup away from the neck but then moved it right back for the late 70s reissues and have ignored us and kept it there ever since...they also started using babicz bridges which are fantastic for a few years but went back to the 3-point as a cost-saving measure while also raising prices

They don't care about bass players as much as they do guitarists.
They'refocused on the guitars because they sell way more than their basses.

@@scottmatthews172 bunch of yapping, hipshot bridges are readily available and drop right in,
the neck pickup gets the deep sound, you know, that bass guitar is supposed to have in the first place.
If you need brightness, there's a mini humbucker next to the bridge staring you right in the face.
