Shot on the 300A a ton in the late 90s-early 00s before switching to an Ikegami. These cameras closed the aperture when bars were selected, so that's why the iris kept closing when you selected bars, no matter what how the iris auto/manual setting was set. Also, the camera sounds exactly as BetaSP cameras sound.

Canon and Sony made and still make some incredible hardware. Here’s a little secret…in our lab we use two Nikon Z6 mirrorless cameras to record our show. Between their eye focus tracking and color science, the Z6 is an amazing little camera. I’m still a huge fan of Canon however.

Great video! I recently picked up this exact model along with the playback adapter. I've been having some fun with it! I like how the form and ergonomics haven't really changed on broadcast camcorders. The size and weight are pretty close to my current work cameras. The only difference is they record on memory cards.

Great show. Video cameras are one of my favourite subjects. Once you have had a broadcast camera the consumer cameras seem so basic. Regarding tube base cameras, get yourself a Sony Trinicon HVC model. They are quite reliable and came out in 1980 to 82. I just did a video on one.
