When doing long lines how far do you let the line out before you connect the planer board?

usually 20-40ft running one board on each side of the boat.

I have tried leadcore and I switched to snap weights for trolling. Found its faster to clear lines and get back to fishing then using leadcore, especially on smaller bodies of water where you dont have long runs. Although I feel I m in the minority on this. So why leadcore over snap weights. I m a novice fisherman trying learn. thanks! Your thoughts?

I prefer leadcore and long-line over snap weights as well. I'm not a fan of snap weights unless you need to use them to up the catch rate or get smaller/lighter lures down deeper.
