Very cool. This looks so close to the original. Love that the colors of the breastplate and skirt are inverted from the original colors, makes it look like another variation rather than a copy.
Thank you! The color swap was a happy accident. I find that there's so much to learn from recreating someone else's design, more so the process than the exact final result! Glad you enjoyed the design and video!
Probably vacuum formed over a chest shaped mold, then trimmed to size. Would give a nice polished surface for paint without hours of polishing. They may also have painted the inside of the acrylic for extra shiny.
I read that they lined the interior with leather to give it a smooth finish against the skin! It definitely seems like they coated the exterior in a gloss finish, also would prevent the exterior surface from scratching.
@@LouiseKatzovitz yes YOU!!!. I make things to sell but I have to rely on manufacturers to make moulds for me which sometimes can be a long exhausting journey. I’m looking at courses in 3D what kind of course do u think I should be looking for? I want to be able to blend, mesh, render etc. Many thanks
Hi LK, this was really, really cool to watch. This breastplate is the total intersection of all your talent and education! Can't wait to see more. Evelyn!
The one Zendaya wore, looked more like it was vacuum formed - Adam Savage's channel has some stuff on that process. You'd still need a scan or model to print out as a forming buck, and a lot of sanding to get it smoothed. If you've got a new top end iPhone, the LiDAR function could be used to make a 3D scan of your own torso, to be imported in to modeling software and print the casting buck from.
I think they used thermoforming too! I did find out that they came to Zendaya's house and scanned her topless there, but I haven't been able to find the exact mold making process. I'd be curious if they CNC'd it or 3D printed it, but I also understand a luxury brand not sharing the exact process of one of their products. Photogrammetry is a good way to generate a model, but there are some apps on iPhone that will generate the model and post process a clean model to export (it just costs money). I'll be experimenting with this in future videos!
@@LouiseKatzovitz Thanks! I do have questionssss haha! (I know I know, fast) but for now- How do I learn 3D as a beginner? also if I dnt have the screen printing machine, is there another way?
Great idea and superb realization. Even if fashion focused here, I see that also in medical care or orthopedic use cases as well as support for elders. Your domain crossing work could contribute a lot to this. Go on investigating!
I assumed they scanned and use the model to creat a mould, then probably vacuum formed the acrylic onto the mould to get a nice finish. Mould could be 3D printed.
Your channel is so cool and unique! Would love to see you do more fashion recreations, but exploring some other dicplines of design could also make for interesting videos😄
Thank you for saying that!! I have a combination of fashion recreations and original designs coming up. I also love product design in general and have a ton of ideas that aren’t fashion related!! Any discipline in particular you’re interested in?
Excellent presentation, thank you! Any thoughts of 3D printed garments, particularly bras (functionality etc), such as the prototype made by Continuum Fashion's N12 back in 2011?
It surprisingly wasn't uncomfortable. The original is lined with leather so it's not hard against your skin. The breastplate is only in areas that don't move too much relative to each other, and doesn't really dig in since I sanded the edges!
See there's a business right there, custom breast plates, we 3d scan you and you pick the color and style and bam. Breast plates are way cooler then shoes, you girls could be collecting them.
You are my Spirit Animal. I've got a strong background in fashion, jewelry, and a photoshopp hacker. I need to know the software you use. I probably can't afford it BUT I'm fascinated! YOU AEE AMAZING.
GET THIS -- the software I used in the video is ALL FREE! I listed both the photogrammetry and modeling software in the description!!! I used a DSLR to take the photos, but you can 100% use your phone instead!
The photogrammetry was super cool!

Such a wide variety of skills this took. Very impressive!
Some people are really talented… Well done
Who me??!! 😊

Wow, I need one of these made! I absolutely loved this!

Evelyn! Glad you enjoyed it!! Yes I have much more to come, thank you for subscribing
Killed it as usual Louise!!

Wow, it’s really good for a diy ❤ looks like something purchased even 😍
Thank you!!!
So glad I found your page! Been trying to learn more on high end like this. Thank you!
I'm so glad you found me too! Let me know if you have any questions on your learning journey :D

Can you please give us a tour of your studio space? Would love to see how you have everything set up.

Super talented, glad I found your channel and I foresee lot of growth in your future. I love photogrammetry and 3d modelling!
Oh I'm honored, thank you for finding my channel and thank you for growing with me :)
much love from another nerdy artist engineer
I’m honored!! 🥰
This was so fun!
This WAS fun!! Thanks for enjoying!
This came out cool
Thank youuuuu
Too cool for school girl!!!!!! 🤍✨ Love it!!!!!

Both are definitely possible. for forming, I’m concerned that the breast portion would have a bit of an undercut and make it difficult to form well
This is amazing
Thank you so much :)
hold up! Boolean cut in blender... of all places to find out about that, ofc its here. Thankyou!
Of course! I'm still learning new tools and features in Blender everyday, but that one is a favorite
Omg... a fashion engineer...
I saw your sweet comment on Wendy’s channel!
Welcome to my channel, thanks for coming over!!! I like that, a “fashion engineer” 🥰
Just loved it !!!
Yippee!! Thanks a million!
Can you do a in depth tutorial of using meshroom? New to 3D printing

It turned out great!
Thank you!!! :)
Good job!!

Excellent idea beautiful
Thank you so much 😊
“If that gets you amped up”
Yes, yes it does.
I'm honored!! Let's get amped up!! :)
Great job I wanna try
You did an amazing job. I have been trying to make this for a while now and I have been failing miserably.
Thank you so much! Let me know if you need any help, I'm more than happy to help!
Really awesome
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi would you be willing to share your 3d printer file?
I wonder how comfortable the item was to wear. It is custom shaped but rigid. Does it dig in at the neck or stomach?
Great project. Super inventive.
It surprisingly wasn't uncomfortable. The original is lined with leather so it's not hard against your skin. The breastplate is only in areas that don't move too much relative to each other, and doesn't really dig in since I sanded the edges!
I only wore it for a short while, it'd be interested to see how it would be wearing it for a few hours.
Hello Louise Where did you get the Fabric Loop pls? thank You. ❤️❤️✨
Hi! The fabric loops for the breast plate I designed and made myself!
Did Cannellini really sponsor you?
No they did not.... maybe one day, I'd love a Wegman's sponsorship 😂😅
Dear Louise, is there any way to 3d scan my own torso or would i need the help of someone else making the scan?
You’re a genius omg!! Keep it up, love from Brazil 💗
Hi thank you for the kind words! Hello from California!
Could you make the 3d printer file accessible
Soo cooooolll!!!
Ahhh thank you so much!!!
Where did you get the straps from?
See there's a business right there, custom breast plates, we 3d scan you and you pick the color and style and bam. Breast plates are way cooler then shoes, you girls could be collecting them.
lol definitely a possibility!
You could even line them with Kevlar and get them bullet proof, shit
Check out xyla foxlin's bullet proof ball gown video! You'd love it!
Deberías venderlos me encantan 😍
