My God. This took me back. Sitting in my mother's basement on a Sunday morning in a swivel rocking recliner watching a 20" knob TV waiting for American Gladiators to come back on. Nice memories but makes me want to cry like a s.o.b at the same time. Ya can't get those times back and this world today is a far cry from what I had back then.
Those days aren't gone, they're just not happening right now. Be happy for you still getting to experience that then, and getting to remember that now. Even the heat death of the universe won't be able to take that away.
I remember seeing this commercial on TV when I was a kid. I loved it so much that my mom taped it off of the TV so I can play it over and over again. She got tired of hearing this song, but I still love it to this very day.

If you were a child in the 70's and 80's, you've enjoyed some pretty good commercials that were genuine and family friendly. Today's commercials are annoying, noisy, and abrasive similar to today's culture and society
