I am ashamed: I had never paid attention on PJ Harvey before "Let England Shake". What incredible breach! But better late than never: this new album makes me catch up the lost time.

A glimmer of hope for music today and her name is PJ Harvey - the x factor gneration could do no better than to pay attention - its not all about looks and cover versions. The overdub of trumpet is essential for the context of the song and the album and is simply genius. I love you Polly.

ps., I do believe that you, Polly Jean Harvey, especially with this album, have produced a tragedy like the Attic tragedy of the Classical Greek period. And, this tragedy is what Nietzsche advises we use, given it's a form of art, to measure or value life. We could be adults and live not by obeying the law given and obeyed because of threats to life eternally by a vain transcendent being who they call God but instead, obey that which we value because we choose to: our art, our artifice. In conclusion, i think you really deserve a pay rise, given I bought To Bring You My Love in 1995 and it cost about the same as today's price. (it's packed in a box currently because I'm still unpacking so can't refresh my memory of its exact price).

The album is just as relevant today as when it first came out, probably more so which is a really bad reflection on us as a society. Unfortunately parties that spread hate and fear like the Tories are still in power.

Why must the hideous monsters at Vevo force me to watch a Matt and Kim ad before seeing a performance from one of the most brilliant artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Perhaps they feel we shouldnt get to seesomething amazing without first being force-fed something awful.
