This video helped me out a lot. I didn't know the specifics of counters so I was kinda unsure what to hit with cavalry besides ranged units. also didn't take much spearmen cause I figured swordsmen were better at fighting
Big monsters & monstrous infantry have effectively the same role in your army (with some variance) and are countered by the same unit types. The only real difference is that effects which are more effective against solo units are more effective against large monsters and effects that are more effective against units with multiple guys in it are better against monstrous infantry, which I did not feel was worth mentioning.

No info on chariots and their counters :'(
Chariots are effectively cavalry that's even better against not-spear infantry but worse against everything else.
You missed monstrous infantry...
