All background music used belongs to their respectful owners. I do not claim ownership of any of these tracks.
For those who might be wondering, the first background song is まっしろな雪 (Masshiro na yuki), a remix of Higan Retour. Thanks for those who commented before me.
Rian Octa One of Halozy’s famous works! XD
And what's the music that played while she was talking about Asahi?
I love that remix of higan retour!
@@alder613 don’t know if you’re still looking for the song but it’s “the philosophy in a cat”
Nanahira is probably one of the most talented, hyper vocalists in the Denpa genre. She has a bunch of albums with a bunch of different circles, but my personal favorites are the albums she recorded in collaboration with Camellia. The two mesh extremely well with Nanahiry being so hyper and Camellia being very well known for doing a lot of Dubstep, Psytrance and other more extreme ends of the electronic genre, though he does have a very diverse set of talents within the genre.
Neither of them do a whole lot of Touhou-related stuff, but they are certainly notable mentions in my opinion.
Wow, it's really rare to find a channel with an animated "host" that is informative while also meeting my type of humour and is not overdoing it to the point where it's becoming weeb-ish.
Really surprising you only have less than 7k subs. I expect a bright future for you, keep it up :D
Thank you very much ^^ I'm glad you liked the video ^^
@@Yuunarii and hey, only a year later the number already tenfolded ;)
You need to talk more about Touhou Douujin circle! Keep up the good work! :D
Thank you very much ^^ And I will
***** Sama-sama! (You're welcome!) :D I'll be waiting. ;)
+Yuunarii when you include over 5 minutes of touhou remix demos just to make it past the 10 minute mark :p
jk, lol. i like these videos :)
This is a really interesting concept! I enjoyed it quite a lot and I'd love to see more!
Thank you ^^ I'll probably make another doujin review after finishing my next video ^^
3:31 *Sucks lolipop*
*Removes lolipop*
*Stores in hair for later*
I do that all the time too
😏
Please do more of these! Love your editing plus it gave me new stuff to listen to c:
1. Halozy is not *that* popular, it's a fairly known circle, somewhere amongst the most popular electronic music circles, but rather low on the list.
2. Music Asahi creates is called Electronica. If you want more insight on it, I recommend reading the lyrics, they can be very abstract sometimes, but the meaning is somewhere there.
3. Thank you for providing the information on where to buy said albums! I'm not sure if cdjapan sells doujin stuff though...
Red Engine Music and Gaming Not sure what you meant but thanks?
It is ambient though.
I discovered Halozy via the Asahi arranges, then browsed through the rest and was in love.
My favs have to be True Impact, Mirror, Unseen Hands, Song of an Anxious Galley and Paranoid Lost.
Oh and Wonderful 0.
Since no one talk about it, I'm gonna say it.
Team Shanghai Alice :v
A wonderful video Yuu! Really enjoyed it! ^_^
Wow, I love your editing!
I want more, MOAR!!!!
Nicely done ! Halozy is one of my favorite circles !
My first time I heard a Halozy song was their collaboration with Nanahira, Frightfully Insane Flan-chan's Frightful Song. And hearing these tracks makes me wish I could get the albums right now!
HI! I have just watched "What is touhou music?" and this review (then I will watch the next one), and I have subscribed to your chanell, too.
Could you make a review of Amateras Records, please? It is my favourite circle and... I really love it.
I hope you read me. Thank you!
You've opened my eyes (and ears) to a new joy! And I like the way you put the video together, it just made this all fun
hi yuu! I love your videos! whether it be utau, a story from your life, or touhou, it's all great!
Thank you ^^
Yaaay, I was waiting for channel like this!
Halozy and Liz Triangle were the first two circles I encountered many, many years ago, around 2011. I still have many of their oldest songs downloaded, ones whose youtube videos I got them from long gone from this world due to copyright strikes. Thank you for bringing back all these wonderful memories for me. My favorite group, however, by far is Foreground Eclipse, which I had the misfortune of discovering at the end of 2013 right as they disbanded. However, I have probably listened to each of their ~45 songs over 200 times each, much more than any other group. It would mean a lot to me if you reviewed them sometime in the future. (I think I have the lyrics for some songs memorized from the sheer volume I listened to them, even though i don't speak a word of Japanese.)
Dat Patchouli illustration at 8:21 is GOOOOOOD. Also, doujin circle review? This made my day
Nice vid! Provides a lot of good background information and has some chuckle-worthy moments. Can't wait to see more reviews from you!
Very good work on this review! I remember back in the days when Sound Online and Halozy were some of the first doujin entries in my Touhou experience.
Also when I heard Cornelia, I just couldn't believe Halozy can produce such a bad ass "metallic" song :)
Please keep doing what you do! This videos are great. It's so hard to find videos with recommendations about touhou music or even talking about it. Keep up the good work! I also think it will be nice to hear more about the circles. Thanks again for the video!
Thank you very much ^^
Cool stuff, I've been listening long enough to know about Halozy but it's nice to get an in depth impression of them from another point of view. Looking forward to the next one!
3:36 Yuunarii stuffs her lollipop into her hair
I was honestly grinning from ear to ear the entire time. Great job Yuu!
Great quality video, love it \o/
Hyped for the next circle review
Exaflare Bahamut Frozen Starfall?
GoPrincess I'll just let her decide which circle she would choose next
Damn! I love your reviews. Hope you could find time to review more of the Eurobeat circles such as Eurobeat Union or Crazy beats, would love to see your review :D
Vaporwave. That was literally perfect.
I just saw the previous video yesterday, and I'm very glad to see this just after a day. and thank you for nice video.
this channel is going to become huge sometime! your stuff is great, keep it up!
Thank you ^^
Love the video! I hope to see more doujin circles by you (cough Eastnewsound). One suggestion is you focus on each member of the circle and what role they do and have some examples of their work and genre. I think that would be great and flesh out the video a bit more.
Though it is worth nothing in the beginning Halozy did mostly arranges with Eastnewsound and Lila'c. They also had Hotaru whom is no longer a member in their circle, but she had an amazing, beautiful voice my favorite all time song she did was (not sure if you have heard it): ruclips.net/video/PN56PO2KC1c/видео.html and lyrics were done by a former ENS member Izumin( いずみん) who vanished one day, but he did some AMAZING lyrics for ENS.
I will make more doujin circle reviews in the near future ^^ Ah thank you for the feedback ^^ I suppose I could try, however it might be a bit difficult to obtain the necessary information regarding the role of each member. Due to the rather obscure nature of doujin circles within western media (so I'd have to hope there's some Japanese information stated online). But I'll try non the less ^^
Owww yeah yeah their older albums indeed featured Hotaru. Her voice is really pretty indeed (my personal Halozy favourite of hers is probably Suna no Hoshi (last song shown in the compilation)).
that format of animated video is so cute and funny. Keep it up :D
Personally love satorare and genryuu kaiko
Mainly from osu tbh...
Thanks for your pretty good review, let me get interested in this circle. I really hope you can talk more about touhou doujin circle. Thank you!
I do this same type of review on my Italian Touhou page on Facebook, but actually no one cares about it,lol.
I am a bit jealous,because you're so good!
Keep it up!
Viva denpa! The music video for 進捗どうですか? is a precious artifact. Also, I loooooove Nanahira!
Also Asahi/emaru tracks a some of Halozy's best releases.
What I really love about Halozy is that they capture the ambiance of the what they are covering perfectly. Through their lyrics, the pacing and general feel overall of a single song. Riverside view, the song in the background early in this video, is one such good exemple. Komachi herself would like it.
And now that my favorite RUclips channel that used to translate their songs shut themselves down....anyone know any alternatives for english subtitles of Halozy songs?
Also 6:47 to 12:30 comes up on my playlist daily np np :p good selection
I've known Halozy since 2010 with Starry Presto - an older album but a great one! One of its songs, "Monosugoi Ikioi de Keine ga Monosugoi Uta", is actually referenced in the Viva Evolution song 'Monosugoi Dekotora de Patchouli ga Monosugoi Uta"(fourth showcased song at 8:02). That one song exposed me to the vocalist Nanahira and the magic of high-pitched singing. She has been with Halozy ever since.
I've noticed that one of your references to denpa, at 4:05, is a Nanahira song from the IOSYS album "Hyper Denpa Collection" - ever since that album, the Sumijun & Nanahira pair has gotten really close to IOSYS's denpa social circle.
I can't really call it a Halozy-IOSYS collaboration because it's only Sumijun, but it's just there to show the doujin music community is as complex as a neural network. Nanahira
As for what you said about owning physical copies - you're right! I am expanding my collection bit by bit, and Starry Presto was among the first to be there. I want to remember these albums forever, and the only way to make sure of that is to have them around me! Collect collect collect.
Anyway, thanks for the video. I can't wait for the next.
On a reply to a comment of mine on the previous video, you've actually mentioned how you had to put Halozy in over and not describe denpa too much. And that IOSYS and Nanahira have had collaboration albums. Yeah.
They're really just a huge social circle now, big enough to host the denpa festival(denpa) at the beginning of this month. And you sure did pick IOSYS to explain the genre, as you wrote then. Absolutely divine!
It''s bene a while since i thought about Touhou music. You're bringing back some good memories of when I hit up reitaisai 8 in 2011
hey, yuu. could you do a video about IOSYS next?
I have been considering reviewing IOSYS at some point, however I'll first probably review the circles I like best ^^ After that I might start doing raffles regarding the reviews ^^
ok then, i'll look forward to the next one
On that note, Please do UNDEAD CORPORATION at sone point.
What about Felt?
IOSYS is probably the most diverse circle that I know of in terms of how many genres they can fit in one album. Would be interesting to to see a review on them.
Halozy is definitely a recommended circle for people who are just getting into touhou arrangements. The wide variety of genres they produce is sure to please a lot of people out there. I mostly like it when they mix genres in a single song. It takes some creativity to pull that off. The song that let me discover and drew me to Halozy was Confined Space from their Ultimate Synthesis (2010) album. Halozy has my respect.
I don't know why I'm so happy she put Patchouli's "Monosugoi" song in there
Patchouli is her favorite character so I'm not surprised.
No touhou video is complete without Patchouli =3=
+Yuunarii haha good to know I share a favorite with you (≧∇≦)
Yuunarii thanks to you and your tutorials, I have finally made my first cover. I love you
Between your voice and the debating with yourself, I basically imagined BMO during the trippy portion.
Funny - I was browsing through my list to find 8番目の路地 (The Eighth Alley) right before you mentioned that song.
It really is a good song.
Right in time for Reiteisai 14 ^^
Reitaisai 14 happened? That explains why I got a notification from Bandcamp about a new Frozen Starfall album :D
oh that explains the sudden surge of touhou doujins in sad panda
Awesome video!! Any clue what circle you'll be covering next?
Very entertaining content Yuunari!
I think you should put a playlist on the video description of the songs you shared (also in the introduction video), it will be highly appreciated
AWESOME!!! I LOVE HALOZY!!! I recommend you do GET IN THE RING or Yonder Voice next!!!
*Compilation starts*
Well you knew which song to play first to get me interested in this group.
I love Lunatic Princess so much and that little bit is enough for me to check their other stuff.
My favorite circle! I love em!
Yes my favourite favourite circle among all favourite circle, I like their quite song
Now imma devote my life to this thanks yuu :3
Loved the song choices, although one I was expecting was Don't let you down orz
Still, really nice video (I found myself giggling at some parts), and I'm looking forward to either A-One or DiGiTAL WiNG next!
Initially I wanted to add Don't Let you Down but.. I already had 12 or 13 songs in the compilation XD
But thank you ^^
I am in love with the animation of all this. it's highly amusing.
Thank you ^^
Is Anti-Yuu a heroine or a villain?!
As I only recently began paying attention to specific Touhou remix artists, I have to admit that Halozy hasn't been on my radar. I have tolerance for electronic jpop, but I don't usually deliberately seek it out as a genre. Some of what you played as samples really appealed to me though, so I'll be sure to seek more of it on my own.
So far, my favorite Touhou remixers are A-One, Sound Holic, NJK Record, and Yuuhei Satellite. Maybe that's the overrated stuff that everyone always says, but I legit can't get enough of those, especially Yuuhei Satellite. I've heard many other Touhou remixers, but they seem the most.....professional, if that makes sense.
Personally I think I'll just use her has like.. The internal dialogue person within videos. However she's actually just my UTAU (who I've kinda abandoned ever since I started straying away from UTAU). Her name is Fushi Murasaki.
And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed some of the songs I showed ^^
I loved the video!
i love your videos!!!!, pleaase talk next about alstroemeria records!!! they have a BUNCH of albums a colabs, also my favorite circle!!!!
You're cool, even though none of my favourites are in the compilation :P
Yuurii... this is actually the first I'm hearing of Halozy, and Heart and Beat Technology. But then again, I'm not exactly into electric techno :/
now i know which name to call my favorite ganre of th fanmusic
-sorry for the long compilation
-no sorry! more music! o_o
I subbed to Yuu because of vids like these. ^^b
gj Yuu!
Love Halozy. Zytokine (Cytokine), LiLA'c Records, and DiGiTAL WiNG are also some of my favorites in the electronic genres
There's too many great stuff hidden beneath the Touhou, Especially Music Doujin Circle.
FELT, Diao Ye Zong, Tamaonsen, Alstroemeia Records, Halozy, Digital Wing, Shibayan Records......(my doujin music collections had already swarmed with variety of music with variety of genre XD)
For a Touhou fan that listen Touhou music for more than 2 years, I'm so glad that I found this video, looking forward to see more in the future!
Really nice video :D As a big touhou fan (and old fan probably lol) I would recommend circles and I listen to those circles most of the time
RD sound: They kinda make music as a way of telling story and their music is absolutely beautiful
Yuuhei Satellite: more vocal circle and also well composed music
Active neets: Live orchestra for Touhou! brilliant artists.
Tamaonsen: More a bit of rap genre, good tune and quite a few master piece
And also ummm Bad Apple or Cirno's perfect math lab of course :D
Thank you for covering these circles :) not enough of us westerners get a chance to fan base like this
Oh and the first few halozy songs are awesome and catchy in my opinion.
Halozy + Macaroom is my favorite one
Best one being The Philosophy in a Cat in my opnion
The Eight Alley I image one person walking slowly in a rain
Oblit Agreed!
My only complaint to the video is that "Purazuma" (Plazma) wasn't in the compilation. Aside from that, super great video! These are needed, as I'm quite sure that anyone could enjoy the music these circles make, because they are so often as good as music you hear on the radio or on TV, if not better!
Also, about Digital Wing, I'm not 100% sure, but I'd say that it's some sort of sub-circle of Halozy (or the other way around), or still a co-circle of theirs. After all, whenever there's a CD released by Halozy, there is also one from Digital Wing with a remix from one of the songs from Halozy's CD, while Halozy's CD has a remix of a track from Digital Wing's (sorry if it's confusing to read lol), 9 events out of 10.
I hope you'll be speaking of other not-so-big circles like Halozy more in the future, as there are so many that deserve just as much something like Sound Holic or IOSYS do; and boy if there are many! After all, the BIG ONES are just a few that you can count on your hands (if not on a single hand), when there are hundreds of circles out there (and not only in Japan, though there are still very few outside there as of now).
Honestly, I'd like to hear you talk about CYTOKINE/ZYTOKINE, Silver Forest, FELT (which you will as you seem to have them in your sight), ESQUARIA, Yonder Voice... I'll stop the list here, or I could go on forever, hahaha.
Last but not least, let me thank you for this sort of video that, again, is very needed!
Ah yeah personally I haven't listened to any of their Snow Melody songs ^^; But thank you ^^
Hmm.. I think they indeed originated as a sub-circle of Halozy. However I think they've kinda become their own circle at this point :0 They do still often collaborate with Halozy though yep.
I probably will yeah ^^ However for the next 2 reviews I'll probably cover my two other fav circles first. Afterwards I'll start doing raffle reviews ^^ People can submit whatever circle they'd like me to review on a Padlet page and... I'll randomly pick one ^^ But yeah I'm aware there's lots of smaller, very unknown circles that barely have any music available on RUclips or something.
And no problem at all ^^
I really recommend you to at least hear out Plazma. The moment I heard it (even though I first came across the Digital Wing's remix that left me "meh"), I was astonished by how good it was and kept it on repeat for days~
And yeah, they're basically a full fledge different circle now, but there are still many members being also from Halozy (and viceversa), much like FELT and hatsunetsumiko's or Sound Holic and Swing Holic (though for the latter it's more like only made by people from Sound Holic and that's about it).
Some even aren't on YT because they're against having their music shared (as stated in this nazr.in/ZH2 , which comes VERY handy for channels like mine; or, well, better than mine, where music is actually shared LOL), which is understandable but also a huge pity.
Halozy has some really nice songs
i sure hope to see Demetori on here! good vid!
Awesome vid! I'd love if you could do one about FELT someday
your taste is good, though I lean towards EastNewSound myself, can't wait for your next installment, and I also love ambient songs that mostly use noise like rain.
👏👏👏 Touhou Review 👏👏👏
I was glad I got to meet sumijun and hotaru_tory (at the time with her own doujin circle) the founder of halozy at 2017 winter comiket...before halozy closed down completly
I was trying to decide wether I should watch you're video or listen to my Eurobeat playlist. "ok ok press pause finger you can do it".
Ummm wow.. the songs you chose made me fall for halozey
Also go go go denpa
Great vid-
wait, this has a version in 1080p?! (3:50)
I fucking GRABBED MY HEAD when The Eighth Alley started playing, this is that *one song*. I cannot take how beautiful it is. I've literally banned myself from intentionally listening to it, I can only hope for the fortune that it will show up in my shuffle of over 1,100 tracks. And when it does, it's, well, err, how they'm say..
i cri evri tiem?
I was gonna compare it to like a legendary Pokémon but those have been cheapened recently.
Guilty of only listening to Asahi and Emaru songs from Halozy.....heh. Although I have listened to K.O.K.O.R.O + S.A.T.O.R.A.R.E a few times.
Omg I love Halozy!!!
Nooooo the song switch right at the drop !
A CRITICAL MOMENT !!!!#!
Very funny video. Thanks for all the good songs.
I love it
How to find new Touhou Music:
Step 1: osu!
...that's basically it tho...
no
that's me
Hey, this is pretty good!
Though, I must say, FELT will always be my first love.
This was a great video to watch and I learned about Denpa. I guess my only complaint is your intro feels a little too long, standing at 46 seconds but that is just me. As for the trippy sections, the blockiness, in my opinion, adds to the charm of the video.
Tbh it's just a little intro I made for the itself video, as most doujin circle arrangements start out with a 30 sec instrumental intro (which I figured I could turn into a small experimental music video thingy). Personally I found it a bit long too, however seeing how editing the audio would result in obvious jumpcuts, I just kept it the way it originally was. Most other Halozy songs didn't really have the same "WOW" feeling to it (and songs that did usually had like a 1 minute long intro) so I couldn't really replace it with another song ^^;
And thank you ^^
Ah ok, makes sense. just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I know you are planning on doing just the musical aspect of Touhou Doujins but will you also dab in the memes created by said music?
Hmm.. Depends on what circle I'm reviewing. I mean, if the circle in question has created some very popular arrangements then I guess I'll mention it within the video, but I probably won't go too much in depth regarding them ^^;
IOSYS is most likely the most well known when it comes to memes in general. Alstromeria Records is more well known for the Bad Apple meme which actually caused IOSYS to create their own version called Bad Apple, Good Orange. My personal favorite though are the Raging X meme, which I have studied for years, which uses Nights of Nights by COOL&CREATE. The Tamiflu Sisters meme also used COOL&CREATE as their choice in music. I'm sure if I had more time, I can see what other memes
I hope you do 豚乙女 and Liz Triangle in the future :)
I'll bring my Halozy collection on the next Netherlands trip, it's decided.
For those people who might want to kow about similar music, try the mobile game cytus (creators of deemo and voez too). The music in this game is truely amazing and sometimes sounds similar to touhou music. I think there might even be "touhou artists" who created some tracks of cytus too.
I'm soooo....
subscribed
hey, how did you make the creepy vocal effect on 1:35 or what program did you use?
nice review btw
I used the Vocoder effect on FL Studio ^^
Great, thank you
Wow. This CD sounds so much better then RUclips touhou. Thank you. You weren't kidding about those physical copies.
Thanks for the video and the translet in french :3
I like the ambient stuff, the rest is a bit too much for me :p very nicely made video!
You think you could make Kurotokei / dialgadu77 / 黒皇帝 next? He is famous for songs such as Galaxy Collapse and Scattered faith
Wait galaxy collapse is a touhou song? Holy mother of god I can't escape this fandom and I don't think I want to
U. N plus one is cool too
i see that foxtail grass studio album art.
FELT next?
Im loving the touhou doijin circle reviews, i would really like to see one on undead corporation (^^)
