Whale Wars: A most unintentionally funny TV series.
I agree but I still have a hell lot of respect for these guys
@@dukedashwolfgg2283 Why?
@@mosipd cause there trying to stop poachers and illegal fishing methods
@@dukedashwolfgg2283 The irony though is that the whales they're "protecting" aren't endangered in the slightest. Of the three species the Japanese take, the Fin whale is the most endangered being classified as vulnerable, or 3 out of 7 on the conservation scale. The other species, the Humpback and Minke whales aren't endangered whatsoever. The numbers of whales taken are also very low and really don't amount to much year over year. If we're talking about the oceans there are far more pressing concerns than Japanese whaling. Besides, it's obvious their tactics don't work. The Japanese are still whaling and Sea Shepherd aren't targeting them anymore.
Activism is dumb, it doesn't bring people around to your side, all it does is make them go home thinking they're even more in the right. Activism is more about the activists than whatever cause they're supposedly championing. It's a way for some people to feel accepted and a way for others to assuage their guilt.
mosipd k but no
Exactly what trap did they spring?!
Made the ship think they were a pirate boarding party. Its common for speed boats and other vessels to be taken by pirates and then used to steal other ships.
The trap was the clickbait title and they got us both.
Dr. Scarlet not near Antarctic they don’t they do that off the coast of Africa.
@@57575756 They got me too.
The ship was following them for a few days, they hid the helicopter and delta behind an iceberg and surprised them with it, making them turn around.
To bad that every episode was them screwing up some how and never really saving many whales.
Well at least there was more whales saved than there wouldve been if they didn’t try
@broe5010 broe5010 finally someone understands, that’s their tactic. At this time the whalers were depending on government subsidies.

info145 where the rest no happy birthdays anymore?
These idiots are a disgrace to steve...
The apathy of greenpeace standing by and staring at whales being killed has turned people cynical.
The Sea Shepherd Society is inspiring to many people if you haven't noticed from the comments to the whale videos on youtube.
You really should not put the pirate flag. They could attack you if they got guns.
Everyone knows that's the sea shepherd flag though
It's sea Shepard's insignia
@shadow knight I think theres more to the story.
GamerBajan Somali Pirates are smarter than these Pirates
shadow knight I don think it is in one of the episodes they sunk a boat valued in more than a million dollars
The spring of "hello"'s and waves haha
Who the heck is disliking this video, do you have no heart or anything, i mean seriously this is sick what their doing!
Japanese whalers and Fishermen used very barbaric methods with Nisshin Maru and in TAIJI Japan when they slaughter Dolphins!
Maybe the video sucks. Springing the trap. What trap
The reason people are disliking the video is because the crew of the Sea Shepard are achieving nothing by doing what they're doing. It's all done because its reality TV. Furthermore what they are doing is bordering on piracy and they aren't springing any kind of trap its just done to sell videos
People disliked the video because it was click bait. Where was the trap and what did the dorks achieve. Put some real men on that boat and get something done.
I mean, bun182, the joy in their face. The exhilaration of experiencing first-hand the wonder of the natural world. With no whales, this wouldn't be possible.
I always root for the Japan when I watch this show.
How do you take the loss when they finally were driven out of Antarctica for good?
The U.S. appeals court has labeled militant group Sea Shepherd as terrorists and cleared the way for Japanese whalers to pursue legal action against them.
Alex Kozinski, chief judge of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, declared “When you ram ships, hurl glass containers of acid, drag metal-reinforced ropes in the water to damage propellers and rudders, you are, without a doubt, a terrorist”.
He added in a ruling that dubbed Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson as “eccentric”.
Good! Start putting armed security on the ships to protect them.
"The greatness of a nation and its Moral Progress can be judged by the way its Animals are treated" Gandhi

Never attack someone's boat for any reason unless you wish to be blown out of the water.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Japan! March 11, 2011 - 2016
I was never a big South Park fan, but this was a damn funny episode. You're right, the last minute was hysterical and made about the strong argument possible as to how ridiculous people like the S.S. are!
I totally agree, I starting watching this series and find myself rooting for the whalers over these whiny, hippie, eco terrorists
Man that was badass!!
I think they are doing a great job dealing with the Whaling fleet keep it up SEA SHEPHERD
Sea Shepherd a good fossil fuel consumer and another prime environmental vandal if you look at it by ther evel of judgement. Probably just a good reason to have a fuck fest at sea and have silly blind city puppets pay for it.
Sooo... what did you do? all you did was stare the down, you are saving SOOO many whales
what a complete waste of time
March 31st 2015: Happy Anniversary.
It's one year since the International Court of Justice finally woke up and put an END to whaling in the Southern Ocean! ❤ 🐬

One of other favorite Paul quotes is "There's nothing wrong with being a terrorist as long as you win"! And people still defend the guy! Of course, there are people who still think David Koresh was a messiah, too.

He also referred to elderly people who can't feed themselves as "tube people."

whaling has stopped u know...
That'd be awesome Poweredbyanime
Sparkz HD feller Today is March 31st 2015, the one year anniversary since japanese whaling was ended in the Southern Ocean, but the japanese are still slaughtering thousands of dolphins at The Cove. The Faroese are still torturing thousands of pilot whales every year. The creatures of the Galapagos islands still need protection. The Great Barrier Reef still needs protection. The killing of the ocean's sharks still needs to be ended. The fight never ends: www.seashepherd.org/get-involved/
info145 well that sucks....
Sparkz HD feller There's always someone somewhere that feels the overwhelming need to keep killing things! It's usually the Asians, because their cultures STILL to this day believe certain animal body parts have magic powers in them that'll make men stronger or bigger or more fertile, like rhino horns and shark fins (As if they need greater fertility! Asia has the most horrendously overpopulated countries in the world!) Whether it works or not (NOT), they know they can keep selling these things for unbelievable profit...
Glen, thanks for taking interest. The film did great (over 100,000 DVDs sold in the first week) and got me a three-picture deal - two we're shooting in Vegas and one in Costa Rica. What seems more likely, that I'm envious of Watson or you're envious of me?

I like whales but the guy with the black hair and a patchy hair on his face. Is a coward . i wish i could talk to him... Or at least someone on the boat could teach him how to be a man
You need to drop 'steel cable', constructed like a 'bolero' in front of the ship, the steel cable tangles the screws, and fucks up them for weeks, god bless the Whale..
Go Sea Shepherd...the world (except Japan...who cares about their lousy sushi...aka raw....anyways) is with you..........
Victor Sinha There is no whale in sushi you fucking moron. Try to at least understand others culture before judging them for it asshat.
@@primo2296 culture they eat shark fin soup as part of there culture fucking sick m8
Bandit all of these liberals and Democrats are making me sick
Oct 21, 2012: "Last year, Captain Watson was one of the first to call attention to the fact that $30 million in Tsunami Relief Funds that was donated from well-meaning individuals around the globe to help victims of Japan’s earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear crisis were instead being funneled to support Japan’s whaling industry and to wage a public relations and legal war against Sea Shepherd. Now it seems critics inside and outside of Japan are finally questioning the gross misuse of funds."
Also judging from this video I couldn't pick any proof that it was actually a whaling ship they were targeting, so I would assume it was highly likely that the Japanese ship thought the Sea Shepherd crew were pirates and ran away.
I miss this show
That stat. probably comes from Paul who has no problem lying about anything. This is the guy who said "If you don't know an answer, a fact, or a statistic ... make it up on the spot"
WHALE WARS IS AWESOME!!!!!
December 2nd, 2023: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAUL WATSON. WE LOVE YOU ♥
(Only 73 years young) ☺
Speaking of springing traps...
You saw what happened on episode: "BATTLE STATIONS".
The whalers threw a spear at the Sea Shepherds in an attempt to either hurt someone or puncture the inflatable and send everyone into the freezing ocean.
The Shepherds have never tried to harm any of them like that.
They were NOT defending themselves either. They were safe up in their big steel ship.
That was hilarious 🤣 also inflatables have multiple sections it won’t just pop like a balloon 🤦🏻♂️
@@bobjamaica9045 That's a very indecent thing to say. Why is it when an activist tries to help our world and wildlife, the indecent people of the world always want to see them get hurt? Wow. Very disheartening...
@@info145 because they are going about it in the wrong way, they are known to endanger the crews life too… they aren’t good people. They achieved nothing over the course of their ‘work’ they spend months at sea to throw stuff on board and perhaps foul 1 propeller in the 100000 times they attempted. LOL
It's called "direct action"! Not like other organizations that collect donation and do nothing. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society hits where it hurts. As we all know by now, Whales are very susceptible to toxins (like mercury). Well, when the japanese kill a whale, the Shepherds use the legally harmless "stink bombs" of butyric acid to taint the meat so the whalers can't profit from it. They also block captured whales from being brought aboard by the harpoon ships and processed. They also block the whalers from connecting with re-fuel ships, to hinder their operations. So now whalers will have spent the costs of fuel, salaries for their men, food & supplies, whatever licenses, and bribes... and have little or nothing to show for it but bankruptcy.
This, PLUS the ever-continuing court battles, will hopefully bring it all to a permanent end eventually! For those who don't know, the japanese government started a branch in 1987 they named "The Institute of Cetacean Research". They kill and immediately slaughter hundreds of whales every year while claiming they need that many for scientific research. The whales are cut up and boxed (with labels) minutes after being caught. Research? What research?
Right chief, you believe what you want but I will always support the Sea Shepherd 110%.

December 12th, 2014: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOB BARKER. WE LOVE YOU ♥
Do you have nothing better to do
3/8/2012:
"Operation Divine Wind is over! The Japanese whalers are going home!
The Japanese whaling fleet has left the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary and they are heading home. Once Captain Peter Hammerstedt and his crew on the Bob Barker closed in on the Nisshin Maru on March 5th, whaling was effectively over for the season."
"My prediction is they have not taken above 30%. Not as good as last season, but much better than all the previous years.” said Captain Paul Watson.
Don't hate on them guys. There BADASSES!!!!
Anyone else find it odd that a man who looks like a walrus wants to save the whales?
Santa Clause in his off time.
I don't know who you are but Icelanders, Norwegians, and we Japanese won't stop whaling so leave us alone.
That's all.
I hope just one Japanese Ship will sink someday. It will make my day.
LOL Rick. Maybe instead of "Whale Wars" they should have called it "Morons of the Sea"
1:28 And they made that guy captain of the ship.
You're right, and it really doesn't have to much to do with even the "cute and smart" animals. It's really about Paul's ego trip and the omega-personality followers who desperately want some "purpose" in their lives and an alpha personality to tell them how to find it. These same nuts will follow David Koresh, Tony Robbins or L. Ron Hubbard if they find them at the right time.
@2:01 wasnt he in Byker Grove?
HAPPY TUESDAY JESUS CHRIST ... WE MISS YOU!

Clever you. If you actually watched the video or read the title it does say "Whale wars"
The SS have done some radical things (not shown or mentioned in this show) but I think that they should be praised for taking such lengths in fighting for what they believe in.

"Fact: The Japanese whalers are only allowed to hunt Fin and Southern Minke" - sorryimsogreat2
Unit731:"In WW2, prisoners of Japan were subjected to vivisection without anesthesia. Vivisections were performed on P.O.W.s after infecting them with various diseases. Scientists performed invasive surgery on prisoners, removing organs to study the effects of disease on the human body. These were conducted while the patients were alive because it was feared that the decomposition process would affect the results. The infected and vivisected prisoners included men, women, children, and infants."
You hear that all you whalers out there? wave in a friendly manner!
I think whales are much smarter than we think. They trust people ecause that is in their nature, they are such gentle creatures! It is a trait that humans, sadly, have traded for greed in arrogance.
Near the end, is that an ocean liner on the horizon?

info145 where’d u go
ATS Artilce 1 states:
"area to be used for peaceful purposes only; military activity, such as weapons testing, is prohibited, but military personnel and equipment may be used for scientific research or any other peaceful purpose"
That clearly does not ban military weapons in the Antarctic. Weapons can be there, they just can't be used for testing and such.
Whaling is not illegal on an international scale. Yes, some countries have outlawed it in their waters. Not in international waters.
@branahawk discussions are fun, civil or not. it teaches you a lot about yourself and others. trying to be all hats and mustache about it is fine for when you're face to face with the person and ought to be respectful. We are emotional and aggressive beings after all.
DR. TIMOTHY STEPHENS: "Sea Shepherd argues that they are enforcing international law on the high seas when no one else is prepared to step up to the plate. That's a very strong moral argument. It's not a very strong legal argument because we just don't accept that the law can be enforced in a kind of self-help or private way on the high seas. I mean, we don't really accept vigilantes in our society enforcing the law. We don't accept vigilantes on the high seas enforcing the law."
yeah , I saw it yesterday night on TV!!!!!!!!
Sea Shepherd is a marine conservation organizations. They focus on SEA stuff. There are many more organizations advocating for human farm animal treatment than marine conservation. One group can't focus on everything. It's like asking why humanity organizations won't help starving animals. Because they help humans and other groups help animals.
My personal position is that any and all sustainable hunting/fishing should be allowed. Period. Once a species becomes endangered it should not be hunted/fished anymore. If properly managed no species would ever become endangered. Over hunting/fishing in the past has lead to some species becoming endangered. I feel that proper managment will allow for both species to flurish and for hunting/fishing to continue.
It will take work and compromise to acheive this. The SSCS refuse compromise.
Keep up the good work :-)
Did they get potsy and jyles back yet?
GO GET EM PAUL!
little boat taunting the big boat.... Who is going to win this one?
All Commercial and Industrial fishing need to be outlawed. Let the seas and oceans return to their natural state. Allow only manmade lake fish farming to feed the masses. Self-sustainment fishing is okay as long as limits are in place to protect from overfishing.
In a letter to Japan, published in the NY Times, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, 21 scientists declared: "Japan's whale research program fails to meet minimum standards for credible science. Also, their whaling is not designed to answer questions relevant to the management of Whales & Japan refuses to make the information it collects available for independent review & its research program lacks a testable hypothesis and performance indicators needed for acceptable scientific standards."
SEA SHEPHERD ROCKS!!!! ... if this wasn't on animal planet's you'd hear the folks in the outboard shouting "Run BITCH! RUNNNNN!!! " ....LOL!!
The Sea Shepherds prevent the whaling under UN GA RES 37/7: World Charter for Nature, which specifically allows persons or associations to take action
It's nice to know you're such a fan of mine. Trust me, it takes one to know one doesn't it?
Don't imply me as a terrorist. I asked a valid question and you gave a valid answer.
