Aiyama and fosi both make a new 48v 10 amp power supply you should get both and see if they are the same power.... fosi is 109 and aiyima is 79 bucks
Maybe I missed it, but what's the difference between the Smart8 and the Smart8Bass? The only thing I notice is the "bass" version is rated down to 0.5ohms and at 14.4v, but the normal Smart8 says the 8k is at 12.6v
Also, do you know why they recommend 400amps of fusing when 8k+ rms would be more than double that?
Reminder to those unaware: The dynamic tests catch the smart circuit off-guard, so it makes power based purely on ohms law and circuit component limitations! This is an 8kw 2ohm amplifier, at 1ohm it will try to make 16kw thus 14k after losses checks out, beyond that the transformers appear to saturate at around 18kw... On music/tones this power isn't usable since the smart circuit will attenuate the signal level to maintain ~8kw, even before the termlab has taken a full average pressure reading! This amp is perfect for a daily basser and those not wanting to ever clamp more than 10KW during demos :D Great video as always buddy, I am working on mine on the Big Boss 8 as we speak!
Awesome, I've been really curious about the Big Boss. I'll probably put 1 per sub at .5ohm on my Crossfire xt3 18's. Does the smart technology kick in on burps, or does it just limit it while ohm loads are fluctuating on music. Might be a dumb question, lol😂
Love your content bro. Is there a difference between Smart 8 and Boss line besides cosmetic and leds?
@@holeshotinspectionllc2412 if u buy these buy two at the exact same time, I run smart fives 8 of them. And when I had only six I had no issues with power output being uniform but the two new ones I bought have a throttling to keep the Temps in check and will cut up and down power differently then the other older ones. When I had six it was no issue
Hey Sam I see tar amps finally took your your suggestions and start manufacturing the amplifiers like Banda style😊
Looking forward to that 🤙
I pre-ordered this amp when it was announced and have had it power (2) Sundown U-15’s and now (1) Solo X 12 with 300a alternator & 96ah lithium bank with dual runs of KnuKonceptz 1/0 OFC. Never had any issues with it other than extremely loud bass and parts of my 2022 Civic falling apart.😂🎉
lol
What do you run for power?
Boss audio and for my hardcore build I only run roadmaster@@arthurhughlett2292
Autotech 300a HO Alternator + DR5100R XS Power AMG Battery + Headway Lithium LiFePo4 96ah (just reduced to 64ah for space)
Does it get low
They call them smart fans because they are variable speed. There must be a small chip in the amp that processes temperatures and decides what speeds the fan should run. PC cooling fans have been operating on this principle for 30 years
No.. they are called “smart coolers”
@@Bassotronics smart coolers right, and what method is it using to cool? Oh that's right, fans.
Ya, most amps ($1800) only have a thermostat, on or off.
@@nighttow8780 Your reply is like saying: Smart phones right? And what method is it using to make a call? Oh that's right, a phone. 🤦🏻♂️
It is pretty clear that the fans are labeled 'smart' because they are temperature controlled.
@@johnd5542 that can't be. I have a 99 dollar nvx NBA 201(200x2@4, 350x2@2, 700x1@4. their cheapest offering, and it has a variable speed thermostatically controlled fan.
Best I can tell, the fan remains off until the temperature reaches approximately 35 c, the fan speed smoothly ramps up to full speed at approximately 50 c.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why they would Mount the fan on the bottom plate of the amp. If you mount it to a flat surface, you essentially disabled the fan. I have it mounted on 1/4 inch studs to allow air flow to the fan
You know ive been up in the air about taramps back and forth but i believe im going to have to try them out pretty damn impressive.
I've had my smart 8 for a month or so and its amazing. I had it wired at .5 at first but you could hear the smart technology hilding power back. Wired it to to ohms and omg its a monster
Such a beast for the price! 😳
I picked this up this weekend for $350 used. It's great, but I think it's a bit overkill for my two DS18 15s at 2k rms
altenators plus battery yellow or red top plus other equipment will be more than what the amp is worth it self
Wow Big D this amp is getting it. 😮
Smart cooler because it's smart. Based on thermal levels it will automatically adjust speed.
That's freakin INSANE for $600!
HAPPY "E" BIG "D"
if you dont want to use it for music, you can also weld with it......
Is this really a 12k amp that is throttled to make 8k? Dimensions they are the same. Weight they are the same as well. Dynamic power they are the same. Like to see a guts shot of each to see how they differ
What would be a good budget amp for 8 inch solo baric kicker
Match it up with another Kicker product: CX800.1T. 600wrms at 2ohms, 800wrms at 1ohm, $300 or less pretty much anywhere.
Taramps The Best Power.
Do it bump though???
I heard sound quality was poor, compared to say a Salt 8.
Any advice on sound quality??
Great amps forget what they say I said to myself before I buy a crescendo or dc 10k I said let me get the bass 8k if it blows or sounds crazy I’ll sell it and buy a one of the 2 hell it’s hard to justify spending that much when I’ve been pounding the bass 8k for 3 years and the people I know that has the salts big dogs amps are impressed now is it better quality wise probably know but pound for pound bass for bass I’ll put taramp up there with anybody!
Youve done the taramps. So does parker. I would like yo see a cab45 dyno
Lot of power for cheap. Hey Big D, what do you do with all those amps when you're done testing?
I think they call them Smart Coolers because they adjust themselves or turn on/off at least. Plus branding 😄
Yes my comments were tongue and cheek 😝
@@wal Ah, right. I clearly don't need smart coolers, I'm out of stock on smart lol.
😮😮YES🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT
Could you please do a dyno on the Taramps 4000.4 1ohm 4 channel amplifier? Taramps dynos it at 4ohm 2kwrms per channel. I have the 1ohm-2ohm model.
Thanks for the suggestion
WOW!!! Kiss your stock alternator buh bye kiddo, lol
Again, there is no notification, but on my feed, wtf😢
Sorry I have no control over the notifications and it’s frustrating when subscribers are not notified
are u related to Ryan sickler? You sound just like him
can you dyno the bass 15k?
Ha. There called smart coolers because of the amp name. Smart 8 smart cooler=fan
They're called "smart coolers" because they are smart, they are thematically controlled, not static. The name is perfectly just
@@minus3dbintheteens60 which is smart because it helps the life of the fan
CHEAP POWER IS CHEAP POWER . say what you want💁
Did you see the amp draw? Your damn near 1000 amps. Also if it says 12.6 or 12.4 then why not do the test there. Most car audio guys/girls are not going to have money to support the 1000 amp draw.
most of us who are running these amps or bigger have the electrical to support them. Beginners / starter systems dont need 8k rms amps lol
@@adamw.6488I wouldn't be braggin bout Taramps.
❤🔥
cheap quality wont last maybe a year or two before it blows up
I’ve been bumping my smart 3 for 2 years running db drive g3s 12s at 1 ohm amp works perfectly, but it’s definitely the type you just want to set it up and forget it. Now if you’re putting in subs all the time and playing with the knobs might have a problem but for what they can do and efficiency I think I’m staying with them
These new amps might put out crazy power but its not good sounding clean power. Ill take my 90s 250 hcca and 2150 sx over these new amps anyday! Anybody can put lipstick on a pig!!!
It's personal preference for sure and I've always been a fan of the old school amps, but keeping an open mind, these new ones are pretty impressive as well
So you're saying that I can't run it off the stock (40A) alternator in my 89 Honda Accord? :(
😅😅😅
These amps shit on every other amp Ive had. I use to believe the internet bs about taramps, then I tried a smart 5. It was supposed to be temporary until I could afford a "quality amp". It sounded great. Then I bought a D4S jp64. I thought the smart5 sounded better and definitely hit harder lower.
After that I bought a Dd M8000. I was so pumped. Then I installed it and was instantly disappointed. Again the smart 5 hit harder in the wider frequencies. I figured it had to be broken. I got it replaced and there was no difference.
So I bought a smart 8 bass for $600 and it crushes all other amps Ive tried, without factoring cost. Hits harder and lower.
Dont believe the haters. They have never owned one and just repeat what the internet told them to say. I was one of these ignorant people.
Smart Line from Taramps for the win!
Big props on the honesty and self-evaluation skills. Now, if we can get everyone else doing the same...
Did u have a smart 5 bass before u tried the jp63 or was it the regular smart 5? Did u notice a big difference in the regular smart compared to the smart bass?
@guwop3310 No I had the regular Smart 5 wired to 1ohm box is 31hz tuning.
And can't forget the size! I have 3000w in a very small space under my seat with the smart 3k. I got it over 4 years ago and was worried it would catch fire or something, but it has been very reliable and I've had it shut off many times dipping into 11v and it started back up without issues. Sometimes it does have a quiet high pitched noise until it warms up though, thats my only issue.
@KurtisPape Ya size is crazy per watt. The fan on mine started making a high pitch squeel. I replaced both them with high quality fan and it was way quieter. Only took like 20mins to fix. But ya that was my only issue. Well....that and they aren't as nice looking as others. That M8000 and Salt are sexy af. I painted mine dark gray and it looks way better. I might buy the new Boss 8, they are selling them in black now.
Damn, that shits bumpin.
900a current draw, this is getting to welding territory.Awesome,at 66 I can remember when 20w was a big deal!
Ikr? Back in the day 100w per sub was banging! But we had efficient subs back then that weren't 80 pounds!
900a what you welding 😂 that's beyond welding that's arc gouging x2
@@yourmom-ii8ep Welding cables needed,lol
My small welding inverter only does 150A max, at least it claims to do that, its probably less
This amp is well beyond welding territory
@@olhoTron they claim current not voltage kills,if you dead short a lithium battery, you will start a fire that is scary too.
That's not an amplifier, that's a welder!
Under THINGS I DON'T LIKE you said: It takes power to make power. How is that the amp's fault? Isn't that just physics? I personally don't like that it requires speakers, wiring, an input source, and that the batteries aren't included. 🙄
He's obviously saying that when it takes close to 900 amps of current that there's no chance a car could produce that. Even though music is dynamic that is a huge fricken draw that requires several batteries and a monster HO alternator
@@melissathompson7229 So what amp is our there that makes that kind of wattage without needing 900A? One that he WOULD like?
@@AmericanSmallArmsnone anything that high of watts it’s gonna be roughly the same with amps 1000watts is going to roughly 100amps now with music it’s gonna be less Because it’s jumping up and down
Impressive- but i still don't want one.
Definitely throwing some power...
As always- a great review 👍
I am from South Africa can you do a video of a TARAMP BASS 8K thank you......
So it will slightly push a pair of Blaupunkt 10's?
Tramps amps always been a monster 👍
Thanks for the Taramps dynos. They need more love.
Amen! All the different boxes & amps I've had over the last 4 years, I hafta say that nothing at all makes more deep low power for less money than taramps, when you buy a taramps, you're getting more that what you pay for
Wow! Now that's a powerful amplifier 😎
Good for molten voice coils
@@johnd5542I think he's referring to the power output, that's a ton of power...
@@volvo09 oh ya sorry. I just assume he was hating.

Where will this amp get 15+ volts dc in car in real-time. ????
Don't know why you go over 14.4
Finally a amp that can push a pup. Well, almost.
😭
2:13. JUST Think. Smart Cooler Means They Only Run When Amp Is Hot To Preserve Fan Life
Not to mention how safe is it to be sitting on a giant microwave in the EV's? Back in the 1920's there were 10 electric car manufactureres in America. However, they put the batteries under the hood, or trunk. You did not sit on them? Curious why now EV's of today have people sitting on a giant magnetic field. Another thing not brought up about EV's. I don't think its safe myself. Not to mention the fires you can't get put out when they start, and the price of insurance because any damage insurance just totals the car. In most wrecks the battery gets damaged even when the rest of the car may see little damage. Just a thought, and wondered if you thought about EV's as well. Thanks. Great channel.
That thing should be cheap considering you’ll need three alternators and six batteries just to run the thing
I'm wondering how you stayed above 15 volts at 1 ohm dynamic burst but at higher ohm loads you dropped to 14 or less
I think it would sound meaner if it was rated as a 13.5 horsepower amplifier.
No that sounds very stupid
Big D, got a question that no one seems to address. I guess there's hope it won't become a reality. But, what happens to aftermarket car audio if we in America are supposed to go to "All Electric Vehicles"? I don't hear anyone talking about it. However, it can't be good! There's no alternator to generate more power, and do you really want to add more batteries? Even then, you got your system cranking how long they gonna last? And if you connect to the cars batteries you are going to seriously decrease the range of the vehicle. So I'm worried about aftermarket car stereo business.
Happy Easter Big D
Any way to get some Powerus amps on your dyno for some reviews? I Would like to see what your honest opinion is compared to the other amps that you have tested.
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
Great amp! Simply cannot be beat for the money 👍
Can’t be too mad at that 4ohm performance when the lower resistance setup returns numbers like that!!
This thing on a couple of DTX Dreamsicle subs would probably make for one heck of a budget system relatively speaking
I want to see this same amp on a $10 amazon amp install kit.
I don't like all these new rubbish amps. see if it can deliver full rated power for hours would be a test of true electronics engineering.
Already $655.00. Since this video was made.
Awesome review! Thanks for what you do and service you provide for us bassheads.
One of the downsides of this design are the surface mounted electrolytic capacitors. These tend to be failure prone. We called these "fish caps" because they would leak and smell like fish. They were used a lot in camcorders.
I know exactly what smell you talking about. Never knew that smell came from caps.
they are strong but the distorsion is real bad will destroit you spekers wi time
In fact, here (Brazil) these modules are tortured and companies are heavily charged to produce equipment that delivers what they promise. Amps like these are widely used in outdoor and competition sound systems, and therefore such equipment must be reliable when you need it most. And without a doubt, Brazilian consumers boycott and "destroy" any brand that is not honest with its specifications. There are also influencers like the INFINITY SOM channel that carry out power tests here to inform the public whether a product is really good or whether it is rubbish.
Every time D shows the guts on a amp i laugh to myself for some reason thinking one day it'll be empty or a drawing of amp guts inside lol
I love my smart 8k and so does my x 12
WoW that's a lot of power. I wonder how many alternators and batteries you need to run a amplifier that needs 800 plus amps of current. Damn nearly 900 amps for one single amplifier, that is nuts.
No its the battery thats providing them amps. That amp draw isnt consistent so your Alternater just needs to make up enough power to keep batteries charged. I have a smart 8 with 400amp alt, I can bang while idling (200amp ish)for the most part. Some songs drop voltage a little bit, but most songs I mantain voltage.
2 40ah LTO Banks and e beefy alternator.😅
How is that a smart amp?
“Current pricing.” I see what you did there.
Dam i think my alternator just shat itself just from seeing this amps draw lol 😅
i have waited years when you dyno Taramps BASS 5k but damn everything else from taramps get dynoed :D love your videos and still waiting if some day make video of Taramps BASS 5k
Good gawd! Look at that current pull! Imagine someone new trying to run that on a stock charging system😂
The fire starter car amp that I will never buy in this life time 👍😂🤣🤣
Should have wired it to the Kicker quad box
This one definitely needs some IR shots of the board, during tests!
I was hoping to see some efficiency calculations. Maybe I could do those with the numbers you showed. Isn’t that a downfall of these Brazilian style amps? Inefficient
When you're drawing mad current like 1000A, you should measure the voltage drop over the power wires, ideally show us that on camera too
What's the most watts you've ever tested?!
0:28 MMMMM!!!!! Sounds like bacon!!!!!
That’s a monster.
Best $600 I have ever spent in car audio.
That's insane power
I have seen many fake Chinese amplifiers of 10000, 20000, 30000 watts, measuring instruments are easy to deceive
If it's rated at 12.6 volts and you start your test at 15 volts, how can you possibly compare ratings?
Because by the time the amp dyno is registering the max power, the voltage has dropped significantly. Run the video again and watch. The max power the amp puts out is at the end of the dyno when the voltage is more in line with what most people have.
But, if you start at say 14 volts then the voltage is going to drop a lot by the time the amp is putting out max power, UNLESS you have EXTREMELY good electrical along with a massive lithium battery bank.
A lot of car electrical systems run at 13-14v when driving. So it isnt entirely unrealistic of a scenario for real world use.
Dayum! Im getting one of these, been running a 6k but 10k+ sounds like more fun.
The Einstein! of Amp dyno, BIG D WIZ! 🇺🇸 🇯🇲.
I have been wanting to build a experimental system. With an hybrid sealed/ported enclosure with an aperiodic membrane, possibly use poly fill compressed into a 12"x12" x4" deep frame with 1/8" expanded metal on the front and rear to hold in the poly fill. Possibly make a sliding cover to tune the leakage, I have seen free air subs in SQ. Systems, I like sound quality, but never really went full on SQ, seems it would behave similar to a ported enclosure, only without the added performance from the port. I like the sound of sealed enclosures. Just looking for a way to remove some of the volume from the enclosure, I guess a iso baric arrangement could work. Maybe a custom built sub Could be the answer. I like 12" 15" 18" subs, 10" is questionable , and 8" I'm like why bother? If you are going to spend the money. And want the sound, may as well go big as possible. My latest car, I'm thinking maybe 4, 12" subs in a isobaric configuration, I have a small trunk, and even getting 12" subs will be very difficult it's a dumb design trunk, very little access to the small trunk. Not sure what they were thinking. It may require 10" I may just go the cheap and easy way, and go with 4-6, maybe 8,10" subs in a seal enclosure. Nothing crazy, something similar to the kicker comps of the mid to late. ,90's I really liked the kicker impulse shame it went away. Maybe I can buy the components, motors and baskets and build a custom set. Make some kevlar and carbon fiber cones and dust caps, heck it could be a business. A 12" and 15" with a 4" coil, and the new magnets that are better than neodymium and supposedly cheaper made in USA. It's possible to cast aluminum at home, make molds from foam , do lost foam casting or buy some blown sundown 12''s or something to start do a re-cone/coil. And use non-glue spiders, use retainer ring's possibly retain the rubber surrounds the same way. They make some very interesting carbon fiber with kevlar, aluminum, fiberglass, different weaves, patterns, even aluminum and titanium mesh, with multiple colors and thicknesses , maybe one to two layers of thin carbon fibe, with a really thin layer of a sound deadener like material to help tune the resonant frequency of the cone and motor structure. Probably just a ring if the material around the cone between the two layers, a 4" copper coil. With dual 1 ohm coils, maybe quad half ohm coils, or quad 1 ohm, that would be better for large subs , 18"+ the Mass would be crazy, each coil being 2-3 layers, each coil made from 18 gauge copper, maybe a cooper clad would be better, or a carbon fiber former or titanium. To lighten it up. Or a hybrid former, the quad coil can be wired for .25, or 4 or 2 ohm, or. Run 4 or 2 amps per sub, this isn't practical these days with the large class D amps available the class a/b amps ,1000 watts was huge, and roughly $1/watt for quality amps . A 20+lb 12" sub does sound exciting!.. especially with carbon kevlar cones with colorful accent weaves. Do a vacuumed epoxy resin infusion, and a 10 ton press, using a hardwood die with a positive and negative profile in the woods to press cure the cones and another to press the dust caps. Maybe use UV cure resin to attach the coil and dust cap. Attempting to get a X, max of 25mm one way, so 45-50 mm two way excursion, should do 18-50Hz really well especially with a strong heavy coil handling 1kw per coil plus RMS, could be a cool project to build something you can't buy!
