I know he's famous for that awesome, gravelly voice. But i love it even more when he 'kicks it back a cog" and it becomes a bark.
He is and has always just been a classic man in every way. Never a fashion slave, always had his own film noir, down on his luck, but charismatic detective look.
I love the interviews in the 70's-80s where the talk show host has helmet hair, everything is beige, brown, washed out pastels , bell bottoms and big ties and bigher collars. I almost see Tom in soothing, high contrast, Black and white. He's a sight for sore eyes. And his voice and with a sound for sore ears 😎

I love this guy! Before "smoking" became politically incorrect,....He embodies all the vices I loved. Drinking hard liquor, chain smoking cigarettes, including the ones without filters, & staying up, way too late. Hanging out in the seedier parts of town. Against all doctor's orders, I still smoke. I'm only 4 years younger than Tom. I hate to give it up,...I perfected blowing smoke rings,....even the double ones. (A large ring that hangs in the still air, and a smaller one that pierces it.) I did give up on the hard booze,...though I miss it. At age 65,...I'm no longer hanging out in the seedier parts of town, but I still stay up, way too late.

      Way to go. Tom.
Way to go, all of us.

@@beverlyaiglai7052 Thank you so much. No one has commented on how I write in RUclips comments before.
Everyone tells me I am a natural writer and it is my gift. I discovered it quite late in life. My father is a professional writer and he gives me amazing compliments about how I write the thoughts I share on... Everything. My mum and all of my friends, girlfriends etc see it too. And I am a compulsive writer, as illustrated here. I'm so sorry. This became longer than I intended. I just want to thank you sincerely for your comment. It means a lot to me. It's something I love that comes natural to me. Now ... How to find my niche... Earn money doing what I love. Travel, culture/cultures and life. Life everywhere. Life, death, justice and inspiration, injustice and degradation.
So much to document and so many ways and places to do it, as the late great, Hunter S Thompson, William Burroughs and the still very much alive, but looking disturbingly old Noam Chomsky (The world needs him and he can't be replaced) who is like the grandfather of the world's conscience & knowledge, wisdom, universal truth and universal compassion. I fear losing Chomsky, like I fear losing a grandparent. Naomi Klein, the younger, Canadian, female, version of Chomsky (without negating her own style and her own work - 'Shock Doctrine', one book that encompasses all of the subjects Chomsky has ever covered, delivering new revelations on the truth that so many researchers have written on - if I were asked to recommend only one book on international foreign policy, US hegemony, human rights violations, hypocrisy, disinformation, corruption and the rotten scourge of 'lobbyists' and PR companies, the deliberate ignorance of, and active participation in the deliberate and repeatedly stated, decades long genocide of the Palestinians (worse, in greater numbers and for far longer than Hitler's crimes against thes Jews and on a larger scale, either ignored or even encouraged while the UN repeatedly cites human rights violations against Israel and a stop to the invasion and Annexation of Palestine, the destruction of Palestine - The Ukraine is rightly provided with encouragement, arms and equipment by the western world, but Palestine has been left to languish because Israel is strategically more important than Palestine, which was deemed terra nullius, like the old colonial masters in Australia and the Americas, Africa, Hawaii etc, overlooked for so long) big business on a multinational, global scale and their ownership of all our politicians, including IMF & The World Bank, human and international rights violations and the trampling of UN Mandates and resolutions, AND the deliberate, illegal destruction of our ecosystems for resources and pollution of our planet for short term gain. Gentrification on a grand scale, using the tragic aftermath of the destruction of war, natural disasters, a failing global ecosystem, Pollution by manufacturers and companies that exploit natural resources, including human resources, the most disposable of them all as justification and smoke screen for this mass gentrification of people from the beachside barios to small fishing villages and villagers on the coasts of Thailand and the shock and devastation of the war, started on transparently false pretenses for Cheney's Halliburton and other corrupt politicians selling rights to civic works and infrastructure - After the US razed, convenient for stakeholders/inconveniently for iraqi people and US soldiers Iraq to the ground - that were not only never completed, but often never started. Klein manages to cover it all in her Amazing book, Shock Doctrine: Disaster Capitalism.
These are my heroes. We need (and we have) the voice and dedication of Chomsky in Naomi Klein, Matter Cooke (writer, documentary producer, historian and human rights spokesperson), Beau (producer of Beau's fifth column and rights activist and author), and Democracy Now (like human rights watch with an active video documentary), all of whom are the calm, passionate voices of fact and reason amongst the din of political rhetoric, biased reporting on both the internet/RUclips and commercial media. The quiet, rational voices of sanity, reason, compassion and the rule of law and challenging some laws are gaining momentum and traction in an uphill battle of humanity vs short term profit for big business and votes in systems where the voters never win because they have no choice. US, the flagship of democracy and freedom? Patriotic Americans, ex-service people and other researchers of the truth behind the curtain are voicing the destructive and self destructive neocolonialism of an Empire. That disregards the people it claims to serve. Armed with documented facts, backed by sources and not ideology, some resourceful, passionate, compassionate and dedicated people are looking holes in the paper thin rhetoric and disinformation. Like Chomsky says, ',These aren't ', conspiracy theories', these are conspiracy facts. The information is there for anyone who cares to look. Declassified documents are available to the public. The information is there, you just just have to be willing to find it. It's all There".

I was younger, and I found myself sometimes visiting the seedier parts of town, I was poor, and had to rent in those areas. I tried to keep my head down, & avoid confrontations. Tom's great but genius? He's too derivative to be genius. He does have his moments though.

Cheap shot, Waits is much better than that. I think he had a pretty chaotic lifestyle in the 70's and lived mainly in hotels, as a result he probably tried most things around at the time but he quit all that in the early 80's and, I think most Waits fans would agree, that's when he started producing his best work.

I think Dali crafted the best response to such silly accusations...he doesn't need to do drugs, he is a drug...
I honestly feel a bit sad for anyone who actually watched a true genius transcend the trappings of reality, transport them to more than a half dozen times & places that exist only within the confines of his mind, without having their soul moved by the experience... .
Is it possible that they do not have a soul because it was devoured by their egos??
      ....smh..
I am truly grateful that I am not stuck in whatever hellish world promotes such ignorance & I hope for their sakes that someday they can figure out how to escape it...be well
