I just got the Sirui Saturn 35mm with the neutral flares. I’d like to get the 75mm but I wish they made it with neutral flares. I feel like 75 is a good compliment to the 35.
I have the 35, 50 and 75mm FF lenses. haven't even used the 50 yet as the 35 and 75 work so well together. The Sigma FP and Panasonic S5 which I also own have the S35 crop modes so can get the focal length to 56mm and 120mm respectively. The oval Bokeh on the 75mm is more elongated and looks more anamorphic than the 135mm. So for me the Sirui 35 and 75mm lenses are the wining combination.
Love the video mate! I've been following your channel for quite a while now and I just want to say that you're doing an amazing job. Keep up the good work! 🙌
Beautiful. I could never afford this, and am using a set of vintage glass with adapters (plus a couple of decent budget modern lenses). But it is nice to know what "anamorphic" means. I thought she was a fashion model. Love the shots of Nottingham city centre as always.
Looks like a great lens but that bokeh isn't oval enough in my opinion. Looks pretty spherical. I'm suprised how clean it is though, in a way it seems to lack character and has a more clinical look. Not sure if it's the lens for me but definitely see why people would like it!
beautiful images... I think I'm gonna forego spherical cinema glass altogether for now and go straight into anamorphic for my first cinema lens... just bought a used RS3 Pro Combo and am prob gonna snag the LiDAR attachment to gimme AF on manual lenses, and I'm considering the lil Sirui Saturn, bc of the neutral flares and constant squeeze. if not then prob the Great Joy 50mm, since I won't be getting much bokeh outta that 35. hoping that'll tide me over, and i'll still be able to get work, til a year or 2 down the road, when these companies should be ironing out the kinks of this new breed of budget anamorphic (& spherical cinema) glass... figure I can buy some cheap vintage stuff to tide me over too. there's also the new Blazar Nero adapter, it looks really cool (although the new name and logo are awful)
I've got the 50mm and 24mm Sirui lenses for my FX30. I've not shot anything serious yet, but I'm really impressed with the look I'm getting in testing. What a bargain!
Great video Sam. Nice to see sone local UK filming with this lens. Quality looks boss. 👌 May get one soon and shoot a JJ Abrams Star Trek movie! Top notch review as always.
Hey Sam nice, S5 Original shooter here great video love your work look so nice but Actually I was thinking about S5 as an S5 Original shooter and I feel to be little let down by pana because I bought last year 2 S5. And Thinking about S5 one thing I miss the most is unlimited 4K 422 10 bit recording. I think it is doable via upgrade to have it in camera and I think if enough Panasonic shooter ask for it in a organized way they could release it...what do you think? Doable to ask Pana for the next probably last frimware update to unleash 4K422 unlimited for the S5 original camera? We know overheating is not an issue...just probably marketing. Think about it Yours Fil
Hi sam love the videos and the effort! Keep it up! Quick question. What do you use for your camera gear insurance? I assume you are UK based? I suddenly realised my stuff isn’t insured unless it’s covered in gadget or home insurance by my bank! Thanks again!
Hi. Thank you 🙏🏻🤩 Yeah UK based. I use a company called Ripe. Side note: if you have drones, make sure you get separate drone cover because that’s never covered. I use cover drone for that 👌🏻🎥 hope this helps
@@SamHolland thanks for the reply! Much appreciated! I’m learning how to use the fx30 having upgraded from an iPhone and it’s still all quite new! Trying to light the space in which I throw my darts better. Can you recommend some lights that might be suitable? It’s a bit wider angle than a simple front on RUclips video so I need lighting to hit me as I throw but also to bring contrast and interest into the background as I’ve added a few points of interest there but they are not really being picked up! Thanks 🙏
it's funny, when i saw this come out, i was thinking Sirui kinda lost their minds a bit. 135mm? 1.8x squeeze? why so far off the reservation with this (from their other FF lenses which I have the 50 and 75mm) but i got it anyway. What i really love with this lens is photography! that compression and just it's less than perfect everything, stills just ooze character!
Great video again mate. Shows that if you stick with trying out different equipment some things can surprise and inspire you. Can tell how pleased and excited you was to use it. Great footage you managed to get. With the lens flare it depends how Michael bay you want to be I guess. I like how wide it is for sure. Great video again matey
Was it Sirui that have a "silver" version that have more neutral flares that take on colours more from the source, or was it another brand? 🤔 I want a 50mm bad just to play with it (or maybe a 35).
Sam I got a stupid question, are all anamorphic lenses manual focus only lenses? I'm doing mostly automotive stuff, sometimes hanging out of a driving car so I kind of depend on autofocus
I can't think of any anamorphic lenses that have AF capabilities built-in. There are workarounds like using the DJI LIDAR system for autofocus or using a wireless follow focus to make focus pulling practical for things like automotive videography, but that's about it at the moment.
Hey there Sam, I work with a few local charities based in Nottingham and a team of us will be starting a media course in the coming months I’m also hoping to expand my knowledge on cameras, photography, videography and drone footage and I’m willing to put the time and effort in Was wondering if you’re open to giving us some advice or potentially getting together for a meeting where we discuss matters further Our charity is known as LoveMercyHope and we also run a homeless kitchen known as Rumis Table every Saturday in the city centre
Have you tried this lens? Would you choose the 50mm or the 135mm?

I am in the market maybe for the 50mm
The tall anamorphic bokeh really is something else. Subtle but has so much character.

Great review Sam! We love Sirui 35mm anamorphic & found if you use our soft silver diffusion it takes the edge of those over the top streaks 😎😎
