    Great video, helped me to take the door card of. Thanks!
    Question: When refitting then a sealing compound has to be used between the door card and the door. Do you know what would be suitable for the job? I was thinking of silicone, but in case I have to remove it again, then it would be impossible without damaging the door card.

  • @peugeotCitroen2CV
    @peugeotCitroen2CV 10 лет назад +2

    I used tigerseal on the 406, its a nuisance to get off but it seals much better than silicone. Silicone isn't great on metal as it can cause rust to develop under the silicone. As for damaging the door card, the sheet behind it is smaller than the outline of the door card so it shouldn't really matter if its messily applied as the door card will hide it.

    No noise at all when it tries to go up?
    In this case i suppose its best to close the window up to keep the car dry.
    Undo the clip, remove the glass from the mechanism and pull it up to the closed position. Then get some duct tape stick it to one side of the glass, bring it over the top of the door and onto the other side of the glass. Make sure the tape gets well stuck onto the glass.
    Also wedge some cardboard or a bit of wood on the inside to hold the glass, be careful the glass doesnt fall.

    Hello! This video is wonderful but I can't understand the part with the power probe at 3'52! How does it work? I have an electric window mechanism problem and my window is stuck at the top so that I cannot access to the guide...
    Is it possible to make the window to fall without any power probe? If not, which power probe should I buy?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV 6 лет назад

      Hi
      A power probe is basically a tool to supply electricity to components, in the case of the electric window power was supplied directly to the motor bypassing the electric window switch unit which failed.
      You could just get two long lengths of wire and do this but the power probe is a bit more precise and is useful for other electrical functions such as detecting if there is voltage present. This one is a Sealey one and is perfectly adequate, however, they do a more elaborate one which may actually be a rebadged Power probe from the US.
      Power probe is a brand name, as far as I know, I'm not sure what the generic term for this tool is, searching for power probe will show the most results.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      Hi, yes i was using the car battery as the power supply. Reversing the wire polarity will cause the motor to turn in the opposite direction.

    Second, I have a question: The guide that holds the glass in place, so the little thing on the whole mechanisme that holds the window, what is it called? Because mine broke and now I can still hear the engine but the glass doesn't move .. Can I buy that piece alone or do I have to buy the whole mechanism, while it's actually still working..?
    I hope you can awnser the question as soon as possible! Thank you!

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      Hi, the power probe is basically a long set of jump leads from the battery with a switch on the end, so it will generally deliver battery voltage which is around 12v.

    If I'm just replacing the pulley wires on the regulator, am I right in thinking I only have to remove the electric motor and the guide? I can't get that plug off that goes from the door to the rest of the car.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV 7 лет назад

      When you say wires is that the steel (or stainless steel) cables that pull and push the window about?
      To do that its best to remove the full regulator assembly, ie motor and guide and fix it on a bench.
      This was one of my earlier videos so perhaps not terribly clear, if you look at my recent uploads ive done the same process on a 2006 clio 3 which is fairly similar to this car.

    • @samlee3784
      @samlee3784 6 лет назад

      Лазар Лаза Малиначки Масни just unscrew the casing on the cable drum attached to the motor and change the cables, the just hook in the slots then feed them into the guide on the runner. Now move the guide all the way to one end of the track and wind that cable fully on the drum and wind the opposite about 1 and a half time around the drum. Then refit the cable outer into the casing and refit the casing to the drum. This is under tension and will take some doing, then screw it all back together. Just make sure you make not of which cable came out of which slot or look for wear or grease marks as there are about 6 slots and only 2 cables lol.

  • @peugeotCitroen2CV
    @peugeotCitroen2CV 11 лет назад

    Im not sure, can you run a feed to the motor like i did, you dont need a power probe just a 12v battery and 2 wires, put them to the motor and try and get the window to go up that way. Other than that i dont know why it wont go up, without actually looking at it.
    But try renault forums.co.uk and see what they say.

    What do you mean use a power probe to lower the window? I never heard of a power probe before. What is it and what is it connected to?
    This would be a better video if you spoke English and explained the steps instead of using subtitles.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV 10 лет назад

      The power probe can also be called a circuit tester, there are a whole load of names for it, but power probe on ebay will show you plenty of them, this is the one i used here in the video:
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-PP1-Automotive-Circuit-Electrical-Tester-12v-Power-Probe-/121357087067?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item1c4172315b
      It is connected to the battery, then the probe itself can be taken around to various parts of the car to supply electricity to them, its much handier than using a pair of wires from the battery.
      I personally prefer to use subtitles for a number of reasons, its much easier to get straight to the point and describe what needs done, and you can pause the video on any point to read the subtitles, trying to rewind youtube to hear something is not as easy.
      My accent is also a bit hard to understand if your not from northern ireland, plus the subtitles can be translated if needed.
