Some random thoughts (as someone who has not tried this board): 1. Studio is looking great! 2. Caliber trucks are awesome. 3. Flexy decks are a lot of fun but kind of overrated sometimes. If a board is made for speed and fine control you want that stiffer deck. 4. My understanding is CF by itself is a cloth-like material, and the stiffness comes from the epoxy or whatever is used to give it shape. Not sure why flexy CF decks aren’t more common, but also curious what advantages and disadvantages it has compared to bamboo. 5. Since Backfire is adamant about not going to belt drive, I hope they’re at least exploring direct drive to be able to use 4 normal wheels. Maybe that still needs more R&D? 6. I appreciate how Backfire has these fun ideas for marketing - sometimes they’re effective, sometimes not so much, but they’re willing and able to experiment. Really sets them apart.
#4: Carbon fiber doesn't really like to flex all that much, that's why carbon parts can take only so much before you get a tear or some other structural problem. Case in point, a stainless steel bike frame can take decades of abuse, some bending or some other (minor) damage and still be structurally sound. Thin walled aluminium or carbon fiber, not so much. These materials will break under heavy use at some point if there's too much flex. Not sure if making a skateboard deck from flexy carbon fiber is the best idea tbh.

Daniel Kwan I have a few hub motor boards and I want my next one to be belt driven just to get that experience if having four real wheels and the sound of belt driven boards. This seems like a great board. Wish it was a little less expensive.
@@fish9468 Carbon fiber parts can't take too much flex over a prolonged period of time or impacts beyond a certain point because of the as you've stated yourself *"super brittle resin"* they are baked with to be able to serve a function other than to flop about, this part should be easy to understand? :-) Why do you think the manufacturer warns that one could break the deck if the middle portion is being bent too much? Because they know that making a carbon deck with more give increases the likelihood of potentially damaging and subsequently breaking it. And that's why most companies use carbon fiber decks that *don't flex much* in order to avoid that situation. That's like saying a plaster cast isn't brittle because of the flexible fabric that's embedded inside...

So I own a g3plus and I can say honestly ronnies review is spot on the breaks in eco mode are a little soft they stop you but they don't bite when you initially pull on the breaks but after that in sport and turbo they are fine really nice.. I managed to kill my board in 15.4 miles riding in turbo all the time in very mixed environment .. I'm also only 65kilo . Which brings me to speed .. in eco it's as you expect slow to start but will get me up to about 11mph and still climbs most hills no problem .. sport it becomes a true e-board wicked response great acceleration and good pulling power up hills I mean like 19mph on a 15% grade hill ...and I got up to a top speed of 26 mph .. Again I'm only 65kilo . (Fully clothed with back pack ) .. right so turbo mode .. well let's just say I feel it lives up to its name.😲.. I tested it on 1/2 mile cycle path through a park . It's arrow strait silky smooth and flat .. perfect for a top speed run .. turbo got me to 20 mph in about 6 seconds ... and on to a top speed of 32mph .. at which point there was 💩... I havnt found a need to use turbo again .. but it's fast and fun would like to get some belt drive races going .against your g3 plus
Sadly I have fallen pray to one of the busted battery packs . But backfire got me to do a test and have sent me a new one 😁 .. the the whole thing took about a hour to sort coz you have to take battery completely apart but once they knew the problem it was sorted .. a bit gutted my board is off the road after only a few weeks but I'm hoping that the 15mile range in turbo might get a little better .. with the new battery
Was supposed to see a Backfire Boards touring here in Los Angeles last June (2019) by Daniel Kwan but, hell yeah, there is an establish group designated for electric skateboard and other Ev's in the city of Los Angeles. There are group rides throughout the week and alot of people are willing to see the G3 plus.
Awesome review. Backfire has always had the cleanest aesthetics out of all hub motor/budget boards but in terms of functionality, I feel like this is just a G2T with a bigger battery and much bigger price. Me personally I wish they had even a lower priced option of a flex board to cater to a different customer who are still fans of backfire similar to how meepo went with the budget classic with hobbywing esc vs all their other boards with the yingli esc. It became one of their best selling boards. Give me all the functionality of the backfire on a flex deck.
Backfire Boards I’m specifically referring to providing an option for a backfire board with a flex deck in the way that the backfire ranger was described as having a flex deck. If the g3 has a flex deck I think it would sell.
You should come to Boise! We've got a great grean belt along the river for miles and miles on smooth pave surrounded by trees lol I just took my Backfire G3 out on it yesterday and it was amazing
In the borrego springs are of san Diego your skin stays dry but you gotta drink a LOT of water to stay cool and library deck is open 24 by 7 but two ❤ acres are like $3,000 to buy to build the ESK headquarters of on 'em of da 🌎

Well Slow Breaking is understandable in Eco mode. You ride slow, you break slow. It's a relaxing mode when you want to look around and enjoy the environment. The same with my G2S which is totally ok. And the Price... Yeah it a bit expensive but I think the big big battery is the main cause of the price. Still I think it is still worth it you need a longer range! Nice Video btw. @@pjanoo6973 eh, when they first came out, no one could compete. They rained supreme for years, until china figured out how to make good, budget oriented boards, and now you have today's market; boards that outperform the boosted, both in speed and range, and for less than half the price.
Dude Atlanta, currently their is a bit of shortage with all the electric scooters and electric bikes. Like literally on every corner you will find scooters or a bike. Although they go pretty slow since they top out at 20 miles per hour.
Really depends on you. Hub motors are really quiet and still almost same as powerful as belt driven motors. G3 plus has hub motors , zealot is belt driven which it makes a lot more noise. Hub motors have less maintenance you don’t need to change belts etc. it’s a different ride experience it’s up to you both are great.
Im still impressed by the weight of the board. Not even 2024 there is another board out there, which packs such beefy specs and only weighs 7,3 kilogramms. Thats amazing. Even the current G5 which has similiar specs comes with about 9 kilos. I wish they would do something like that again.

I have had both, G3 plus is better, 2500 km in a year so far! No issues, the belts break allot on boosted, the weakest link on G3 plus is the screws that holds the wheels on, they break first
Having a big battery is dope but damn that's a big compromise. That enclosure is huge! From what I understand the lights still can't be turned off or even set to on all the time so they aren't flashing. That's annoying but maybe by now they've updated the app with that option.

I think thats why I fell so in love with the g2t when I was first looking for a board. Meepo, ownboard, and wowgo are great, but they just dont have the 'soul' that backfire boards have. Theyre just eboards for the common man, while backfire feels like they designed it for those who love skating
The only thing I don’t like is screens on the remotes you don’t need them all you need is for dots to indicate your battery life that’s all you should need,IMO!! 🤙🤙
You had been riding at a quite high speed... Im surprised that this board still squeezed out about 20 miles of range.... Phenomenal

OMG number 5 for sure! My Meepo V3 - 90mm hub wheel tore after 2 weeks on London roads.

San Diego!!! Come back and ride on the West coast. Lots of nice trails and bike paths around San Diego bay. Great place and nice weather as well.

I just bought my G3 yesterday and just waiting. However, i would prefer the carbon fiber from G3 plus deck than the bamboo glass fiber from G3.

I have a question. Should I get the Boosted Stealth or the Backfire G3 Plus?
That's what I want to know
I have had both, G3 plus is better, 2500 km in a year so far! No issues, the belts break allot on boosted, the weakest link on G3 plus is the screws that holds the wheels on, they break first

Having a big battery is dope but damn that's a big compromise. That enclosure is huge! From what I understand the lights still can't be turned off or even set to on all the time so they aren't flashing. That's annoying but maybe by now they've updated the app with that option.

This is my favorite board so far the LED the phone charger the miles you get its sweeet
im currently on a G2S and wanna upgrade, seriously considering staying with backfire for this board or save up for the boosted stealth. G3 plus definitely up their game.

I think thats why I fell so in love with the g2t when I was first looking for a board. Meepo, ownboard, and wowgo are great, but they just dont have the 'soul' that backfire boards have. Theyre just eboards for the common man, while backfire feels like they designed it for those who love skating
