    I would love to know if this would work:
    Night:
    Cleanse
    Azeleic acid
    Vaseline
    Morning:
    No cleanse
    Vitamin C
    Vaseline or other moisturizer
    Sunscreen
    I remember you said you don’t always have to wash your face in the morning and that it is ok to put Vit C in the morning without washing off your Azeleic acid, I believe? That was on one of your Azeleic acid videos.

    I really appreciate people like Dr. Dray. They are board certified professionals but they give information online FOR FREE.
    I remember when I was younger, I started having my skincare routine at the age of 14 but most of those routines were wrong. Lol I also only started using sunscreen when I was at the age of 23 after reading a magazine article about it.
    I feel happy for younger generations nowadays because they have this kind of available informations online coming from professionals themselves like Dr. Dray ❤️

    This is actually the very first time that I - very respectfully - disagree with @drdrayzday (whom I hold in extremely high regard and follow religiously): at 6:41 she mentions that a sunscreen should *always* come last.
    That is true for creamy sunscreens containing inorganic filters. But I use the European form of La Roche Posay’s UVMune 400, the invisible, unscented fluid, and I explicitly asked their dermatologist what would be wiser: an occlusive moisturiser (regular Cerave) first, then their sunscreen, or vice versa. And they very clearly stated:
    - apply the sunscreen first, let it sink in for 15 mins (once fully absorbed, it’s no longer shiny)
    - then apply a layer of occlusive moisturiser, but rub lightly, not vigorously
    (And re-apply after 2 hrs, over the occlusive)
    I had a Visia face scan and my entire face was ‘black’ without any light spots - ie, I had a smooth, uninterrupted layer of sunscreen
    Please note that this only holds true for sunscreens containing ORGANIC filters, and only those with a ‘watery’ consistency.

    11:55 so for this I would do definetly serum first and then tret, then cream. But Serum, cream, tret also works! In fact Dr.dray puts her tretanoin on after her cream or moisturizer. 🧴 usually for sensitive skin individuals you would do tret after a cream or so a moisturizer sandwich and tret in between. But serum first cause it’s the thinnest but the order doesn’t really matter since tret penetrates a lot! 😊 let me know how I did Doctor Dray!❤❤❤ live your vids! 😊😊😊😊

    You talked about layering on top of sunscreen and what will compromise it, and I always wonder if cream makeup products on top of sunscreens is a bad idea. In the summertime esp I wear sweat/water-resistant sunscreens. These sunscreens are removed by me using cleansing oil balms and cleansing oils. I notice that my cream makeup products also contain similar oils. So wouldn't the act of rubbing on a cream makeup product be almost like rubbing on a cleansing balm? Are we disrupting our sunscreens if we use cream makeup products?

    I read some paper that said that putting vaseline first, and then actives doesn't impact the absorption, and some other said it even increases the penetration. Unfortunately, I can't find them now, and lost all bookmarks from the old PC.
    Also, if someone used a moisturizer with a good emulsifier, then would the order even matter, as the emulsifier would make the vaseline and other products mixed on the skin anyway? Unless someone put a very thick layer of vaseline first, and then gently pat other layers in.

    • @racheldahl9614
      @racheldahl9614 Год назад +6

      I’m an esthetician and there is no need to wait 5-10m. Actually applying your products one after the other, especially while the skin is still damp from the previous product will help with penetration of the following ingredients. The only time you want your skin to dry down, is before applying a retinol or Tretinoin as this will limit the penetration and therefore the possible irritation that retinoids are famous for. Hope this helps.

    Hi Dr. Dray…always love your advice. My main concern the correct layering of sunscreen primer and makeup. I have always thought sunscreen and then primer and makeup. What are your thoughts, please?

      In Dr Dray's video, how to layer sunscreen, she discusses makeup and sunscreen saying to apply your sunscreen and then your makeup. There are other derms who have videos on their morning routines and do just that.

    I've heard some warning about niacinamide hydrolyzing into something irritating when acids or low ph is present, is there any concern about using a niacinamide serum at the same time as a salicylic acid leave on product or a lactic acid lotion?

    • @yelizaveta1278
      @yelizaveta1278 Год назад +2

      Don't put those acids together ! They effectively "cancel" each other out .
      Apparently it's not even a big pH thing although it's hard for me to separate topical "acids" from just knowing that's what it's called. ( like hydrolaunic acid for example) So many conflicting things online , and with similar names plus+! There's always new research and realizations .
      I have to re -review often :/
      I don't want to even think about what I've "wasted" (or am now in vain) over the years !

    Hi Dr. Dray. Is it ok if I apply 1.Moisturizer 2. Vaseline 3. Sunscreen? It’s my morning routine and had always wondered if the sunscreen is getting in 😅. Thank you for all the info you provide for me and my family.

    • @JoJo-iy9lv
      @JoJo-iy9lv Год назад +1

      No - don’t use Vaseline in the day, only for ‘slugging’ at night as your last step. Sunscreen is last step in daytime routine…on top of moisturiser (after it has absorbed - 10 mins or so if you can).

Any tips?
