I love the way Jack Carr’s novels are very self aware. One of my favorite bits is when James Reese thinks to him self something along the lines of, “stuff like this never happens to Scot Harvath or Mitch Rapp.”
What a gift! I never thought I will have the opportunity to watch and listen to this podcast with Jack Carr and Brad Thor. The meat of their conversation is purely instinctive and powerful. I am humbled to be part of your audience, and I would like to say “Thank you” from the bottom of my heart and making me feel so proud.
Being a truck driver, I spend a lot of time listening to audio books. 2 of my 3 favorite authors here! 3rd being the late Vince Flynn. Great interview guys!!
I've been waiting for this one since the beginning of Danger Close. Two of my absolute favorite authors coming together, what could be better? Thanks for doing this one.
@@valdez715 I've read Near Dark, Backlash, Spymaster, and Use of Force and all were really good. I didn't realize it was such a long series when I started, so I just picked up Use of Force on a whim one day after seeing Thor on another podcast talking about Spymaster when it came out and went from there.
Always incredibly interesting interviews. Always grateful, sincere, open and professional - asking the probative questions in a manner that seemingly gives the interviewee the “freedom” to open up.
Such a great podcast! I'm a fan of his books, but I enjoy his social media projects like his podcast just as much. Jack Carr was even born with a sweet "Author" name lol. I really appreciate the "right place, right time" situation that Jack found himself in. He even mentions that had he been a d-bag, his colleague/ friend may not have even put him in contact with Brad Thor. I enjoy his talent as a writer, but his honor and humility are what truly impress me. A bonus is that his book and gear recommendations are solid and so great! He really just seems like a good person. Money well spent.
Yes, he's such a nice guy although I don't doubt his capability to kill someone in a few seconds. Also appreciate his love for books and gear. He's clearly a very bright and intelligent speaker. A real joy to listen to him. Been buying almost every book he recommended in his monthly booklists. Really surprised by the great books of David Kilcullen lately..
Brad helped me discover Jack!! Just bought Terminal List today! Already a 1/4th of the way through and can't get enough. Glad to be a new fan and subscriber to you Jack! Keep up the great work! Loved this interview!
My three favorite books - LAST OF THE BREED [Louis LAmour], BACKLASH [Brad Thor], and SAVAGE SON [Jack Carr] - all share a similar theme of survival, primitive skills, and SERE behind enemy lines [Russia]. Love these guy's work!
Love the set, sound and lighting. Professional all the way. Love to know the details. Purchased all the books of both authors. Plan to continue. Grateful they share so much online.
Awesome conversation Jack! You’ve got to get Brad back to Park City, we can ride the Pioneer triple on a powder day and go ski 10th Mountain together! 😉. Really enjoyed it - discovered Brad’s book and Scot Harvath when I was doing a lot of travel for work, they’ve gotten me through a pile of layovers, delays, domestic and international flights. It means a lot to us, your readers, to know how much you both value our time. Chris Pratt doesn’t have a job because of Brad, he’s got the honor of playing James Reece thanks to Brad’s wife telling him to suck it up and take the shared cabin on that train to Amsterdam. Amazing to think that decision precipitated the events that followed, how it affected both your lives, and also, how that has impacted mine! You “introduced” me to Thunder Ranch through your Savage Son Instagram promotions and since then I’ve taken three courses with Clint, Heidi and team and will head to OR for my fourth in a couple months. Literally has had a huge impact on my life. Talk about the butterfly effect! Brad, please tell your wife I said thanks! 😄
Black Ice is great, as expected. Reading it at the same time as HR McMaster’s Battlegrounds was a bit eerie, as Thor has managed to put facts into fiction well. The only thing Thor has done better than keeping fans on the edges of their seats is his exhaustive research.
I just wrapped up the last in the James Reece series, "The Devil's Hand" and I was seeking another series to transition to. I'll see how Brad Thor's "The Lions of Lucerne" goes.
Great podcast, I did not know about Brad Thor but I am excited to start going through all of his books!! Jack I am currently listening to “in the blood” and it is amazing so far!!
I was not a reader of your guys' genre. I'm a big reader of historical fiction set in the Roman and Viking/Saxon periods as I also love reading history books on those periods as well. Huge fan of Bernard Cornwell. James Yeager of all people turned me on to Jack's book on one of his RUclips videos and podcast talking to Jack. So I tried Terminal List. Loved it. Started following Jack's book lists a bit every month. Tried Vince Flynn and Brad Thor and was like this is pretty good. Even just finished reading First Blood by David Morrell, seen the movie a bunch, and the book was interesting. So thanks.
Loved Vince. Found him while reading Clancy. Found Jack, and loved his books, read them all and awaiting the movie. Now I will check out Brad. Seen Thor books, but haven't read them yet, will now.
Love Clancy and Demille, now Jack is my latest favorite author. Jack’s acknowledgement of Brad started me reading his books…2 down so far. A lot of Brad Thor novels to catch up on as I wait for Jack’s next one to come out. Great interview!
Awesome podcast I love both of you great novels. Outstanding interview great to see the team work with Brad helping you out. Brad books got me started in fiction spy novels now I have finished 7 different series keep up the great work.
Fell in love with the genre with Flynn. Then I found Thor and then I found Carr. Flynn will always be my favorite but Carr is now 2nd in my book if not 1st now (although no one can replace Vince. RIP🙏🏻).
The best part about Jack Carr books vs Brad Thor books is that Carr doesn't try to make his book awefully biased politically. Sure he points out flaws in the system but doesn't throw folks under the bus
Late to the party here (Downunder) , loving your novels , Jack , and will now start reading Thor ,. For years I stopped reading thrillers , instead re-reading Cruz Smith (brilliant!) , Elmore Leonard ,Stephen Hunter, Peter Hoeg , and Peter Temple ,(check him out , RIP) so bored with the pedestrian works of the Patterson's, Grisham's , Sandford's, Lee Burkes that everyone was reading . Now through you , Jack , I've discovered Daniel Silva , Mark Greaney and hopefully Thor . Always loved David Morrell , and "Testament" to me is better than the "Rambo" series , good as they are .
Another great vlog jack, i look forward to them. I really enjoy brad thor books also. I heard a rumor years ago that he was close to bringing the Athena project from book to film. It was set to star judo champion & then ufc fighter Rhonda rouaey. The release date was listed TBD. Never heard anything more about it. I think that she was in expendables 3 around the same time. I have written an email & message on IG to Brad, where did the Athena project go? Never got a response back. I understand if it was because of a possible nda or other contract in place. I hope brad'a project will be the long awaited (at least by me) the Athena project. I wish you & he continued success & thanks for giving us a behind the scenes unplugged glimpse of your & brad'a journeys to becoming writers
On the kids reading topic: We read to our kids every night. Well, not my 12 year old daughter anymore, but we did! When she got to the point where she could read short kid's books by herself I started the Daddy Book Club. She would read a book, her choice, at least 30 pages, and then tell me what it was about. If she read 5 in a week, she got $5 and for every book over 5 she got an additional $0.25. If she didn't hit at least 5 books, then $0. I cut it off after $7 in a week. Sometimes she would earn $0 for not hitting 5 books. Sometime she would earn the $7. I eventually stopped paying her after a few months, yet she continued to read on her own remains a voracious reader to this day. She then got to use the money she earned to buy herself stuff she wanted and I had the opportunity to teach the value of money and the concept of saving. *Edit* I also read a fair amount and discuss the books I read often.
Jack & Brad, do you have any interaction with David Baldacci? I started reading him, which led me to Brad. I’m sure Brad would have directed me to Jack, but I had already discovered him via BRCC videos :-). Thank you both for such great work, I literally binge on your books when they come out. Very little sleep allowed...Mush, former F-4E and O-2A pilot.

I'm downloading my first Brad Thor book now because of this podcast. Thanks Jack

My two favorite Authors in one podcast!!!! Just made my week!
Always incredibly interesting interviews. Always grateful, sincere, open and professional - asking the probative questions in a manner that seemingly gives the interviewee the “freedom” to open up.
Two of my absolute heroes. Just love how generous, humble, kind, positive, and fun they are. One day I’d love to meet them both in person.
Write what you love to read. Great advice. Awesome podcast.
Two of my favorite!
Such an awesome listen!! Two great authors! Two great Americans!! God Bless!

Just the opposite for me, I had no interest in that genre until someone told me try this Jack Carr guy.
Just finished my 16th Brad Thor book, Code of Conduct. I've not read them in order but I've enjoyed every one of them. Cheers.

Just read Lions of Lucerne for the first time last year. Great book. Thank you both for writing fun, engaging stories!
Great conversation with two of my favorite authors.

Get ready for a hell of a ride, friend.
You won’t be disappointed
@@billfembleaux363 The fact that Brad Thor dropped a couple of F bombs during the podcast definitely sets the stage.
You’ll be hooked, great reads for sure.
Jack's monthly book lists have really expanded my library. I enjoyed the Lions of Lucerne and Vince Flynn's Term Limits.
Brad Thor. Jack Carr. Both have names with 4 letters in each name. Coincidence? They are currently two of the best authors in the thriller genre.
Great podcast, I did not know about Brad Thor but I am excited to start going through all of his books!! Jack I am currently listening to “in the blood” and it is amazing so far!!
Late to this podcast, but fascinating to hear discussion about the writing craft

Awesome interview. In terms teaming up for a collab novel I think we got an awesome potential author duo right here!
The quadrant thing Brad Thor mentioned sounded like an Eisenhower Matrix.
100% agree that we are constantly modeling to our kids. Great interview!
Loved Vince. Found him while reading Clancy. Found Jack, and loved his books, read them all and awaiting the movie.

Found Jack Carr from Rogan, found Brad Thor from Carr. Love em both.
Pure class 😎🙏🇺🇸 I pray my boys and girls grow up to be like you two fine gentlemen.
I'm reading 'The Devil's Hand' right now along with three other books which include 'Black Ice'.
Awesome podcast I love both of you great novels. Outstanding interview great to see the team work with Brad helping you out. Brad books got me started in fiction spy novels now I have finished 7 different series keep up the great work.
I picked up Brad Thor because of Jack Carr...
I find the writing very smooth..
Fell in love with the genre with Flynn. Then I found Thor and then I found Carr. Flynn will always be my favorite but Carr is now 2nd in my book if not 1st now (although no one can replace Vince. RIP🙏🏻).

I haven’t read any Brad Thor yet. Where should I start with his books?
“Lions of Lucerne” is his first Scot Harvath book, start there if you want to go in order. It’s not essential, but if you can, why not?
@@erikandersomething8022 Thanks! I started the Kindle version last night and I can definitely see the influence in Jack’s writing.
Would love to hear brad thor talk to Joe rogan too
Are you making a 5th book Is James Reese going to find that sniper
Out next year
Wow
Is Brad Thor the Son of Valiant Thor? 😎
Jack, serious question - you ever USE that tomahawk you hold, in a fight? Yes, I'm into real warrior's war stories...
