Another valuable piece of advice. Thank you. And you know, what? Some might superficially think that your advice is only about theatre and acting - but it is really about life itself.
I've worked with John via Skype. I recommend doing so. John has great insight and experience on so many aspects of creating a role, script analysis etc. and I am sure that with John's help you will find more than the answers you were looking for in your quest to give the best performance you can.
This is such fantastic advice. But what I'm even more inspired by is your insight and perception of every aspect that a director has surrounding them. It makes me continue to want to learn from you because I see your compassion for others, your sensitivity, your insight, and the keen way you communicate it to us. That my dear friend is what I believe makes the greatest teacher. Thank you so much. I'm humbled and amazed every time I watch you. I find you delightful and honest in the kindest way. Thank you.
I get over a thousand requests for advice and help some days which makes it impossible to open even a tenth of them and read them, so please only use my email, and wait til ( and if) you actually want coaching, please, then I'll be very happy to help. Sorry to sound unfriendly but over a thousand messages today and no time! best wishes, John jwcactor@yahoo.com or use the "contact" page on my website www.Windsor-Cunningham.com
John Windsor, musician here......on the skids of that life, maybe someday I'll come back to it. Just wanted to say that my life has been thrust into the film world and i'm getting bumped into higher brackets where I'm working on set with big names. I am trusting the unquestionable force of fate and I just want to say thank you for your guidance. Sometimes I'll be in the trailer bathroom praying to God I can get through the day and that I can help the crew and production as best I can and that they can at least tolerate me even though I know it is a mental block I create for myself. Thank you and your videos are such a great companion through the struggle.
I rarely see messages here, but thanks for your thought . . . You may know, and I wont say their names behind their backs, that there are dozens of major stars who feel the way you describe, so enjoy it! John (www.Windsor-Cunningham.com)
As a trainee theatre director this advice is invaluable…..enables me to also improve my work when working and observing as an AD…many thanks….I am aiming higher when watching your videos!
I find the most difficult part of Directing is Casting: finding actors who know how to 'do' it,,and have something inside them - however small - which is like the part! Then everything can be fun and easy. And if not then to what they CAN do. John.
@@NewYorkActingCoach John so sorry so late in reply. I was AD over the summer on Antigone, hard work and I learnt so much. Still feeling a bit overwhelmed by the responsibility but taking your advice. I find the most creative part for me is a sense of exploration of character with a beginning idea of where to start but observing and learning from what the actors might offer….hope you are well over there across the pond!
he is an interesting man I love to see his videos and he is always positive and talk facts I m working on a script and I want to share with him everything because I know he can answer my all questions I have no idea how to stay in contact with John
Very kind. As you know I do coaching on Skype and in New York, still at the same low rate if thsat helps. JOhn Windsor-Cunningham (but am not angling for you, and you may get what I have to offer b simply performing anything to (and I don't mean "for") a friend instead.
