    I remember the Saints (Aints) in New Orleans. Fans did indeed wear paper bags over their heads. Nobody wanted anybody to know they were an Aints fan. Not often you actually saw them on TV. They make Denver's history shine brightly,

Ruthless and tough to deal with but didnt miss on most anything. Sp will have this team humming by middle of yr, his 2nd yr as hc, he will hit his groove. we'll win 10 this yr. @jstan5599 I don't think so! Garrett Bolles is too slow for the edge, he's a terrible Lt. Our Guards are to slow for trap blocking and can't pull on plays. New , young center. And Mcglichty at Rt, is only good at run blocking. Poor Bo Nix. This has been a problem for years. Since we drafted Bolles so high in the draft. Watch for yourself.

      @Jstandshere First of all , I love the guy. My son is a Seahawks fan. I think he played to the best of his abilities. I think there was other things they could have done for him to make him more successful. But, I feel like winning is not the biggest priority for him. Maybe the money was his biggest win last year. I can't put losing directly on him, because of the big players that were injured. And Jerry Judy's, Cortland Sutton's tendencies to drop 3rd down passes. But placement of the ball is on Russel.

    Good show Ben...Nobody who knows the NFL game thinks that NFL coaches, players or GMs don't respect the coaching mind of Sean Payton. Only fans or fools in the media who lack that knowledge would believe that.
    To be clear however...Tony Dungy has never been part of FOX "News". There is a distinct difference between the political ideologues on FOX who masquerade as a news organization vs the guys on the sports part of the network. I don't think anybody working for NBC Sports cares or notices that their sports media rivals at FOX Sports have a propaganda based news side to them...or visa versa as far as that goes.
    The Saints went to the playoffs only 5 times in 39 seasons before Sean Payton arrived in New Orleans.

    From 1987 to 1992 The Saints coached by Jim Mora were a very competitive team, they had five winning seasons of 9, 10, 11, and 12 wins twice. So it wasn’t all bad… Also, Sean Payton has technically only turned one team around the Saints. One can only hope he is not another Ditka, living off the reputation of his one and only Super Bowl win and appearance from 2009…

      He's only turned one team around? Yeah...the same is true of Tom Landry, Mike Shanahan, Bill Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, and yes...Bill Belichick as well. That's what usually happens when you're a great coach, you don't tend to have to get multiple jobs because you're so good you can stay in one place for a decade or more in a business where most are fired every few seasons. So your example of using Ditka is pretty stupid.
      Ditka coached 11 years in Chicago & went to the playoffs 7 times in addition to his Super Bowl, 6 as a division winner.That's a lot more than just a random Super Bowl win. He had a .631 win percentage in Chicago. Do you think that's something to mock him for because he later coached 3 more seasons with the Saints & didn't win? He finished with a .560 career win percentage in spite of that. That puts him above Chuck Knox, Mike & Kyle Shanahan, Brian Billick, Jimmy Johnson, Sid Gilman, Dennis Green, Dan Reeves, Tom Coughlin, & Dick Vermeil. Had he NOT taken the Saints job but stayed retired, he'd have a higher winning percentage than Bill Cowher, Bud Grant, Joe Gibbs, Sean Payton, Bill Walsh & Tom Landry. That's a pretty elite list of NFL coaches. Explain how it is that you think he "lived off the reputation of his one and only Super Bowl" win please. When he came back to coach again in New Orleans, he had been out of the NFL for 5 seasons. That's nowhere near what Payton did in returning after one.
      For reference however, of the thousands of men who have been head coaches at any level, only 22 in the history of the game have actually won the Super Bowl, & only 13 have won more than one. You're apparently minimizing the fact that with at least a decade left in his coaching tank, Payton is only on the list for the 8 who have won just one. That's a pretty bizarre way to look at a coach who is currently #20 on the all time wins list, & will very likely finish up passing Tom Landry who is currently #5 all time in total wins. Of the 19 coaches in history with more wins than Payton, every single one of them has coached more years than he has & 15 are no longer in the game. He will almost certainly finish in the top 10 all time at a bare minimum given how few there are ahead of him or close to him who are still around.
      Who would you replace him with? Give me a name...somebody that was obtainable for a team with 6 straight last place finishes. Name a single coach who has anywhere close to Sean Payton's resume that this team could have realistically hired.

    • @superzero4250
      @superzero4250 3 месяца назад

      First off, you forgot to mention Marv Levy and Tom Flores in your litany of coaches…
      The difference between Payton and Landry, Mike Shanahan, Walsh, Johnson, and yes Belichick, is those coaches have gone to multiple Super Bowls and WON…
      By the way, Tom Coughlin won TWO Super Bowls too with Eli Manning over Brady TWICE. You also left out Don Shula, and Madden double winners too.
      The point about Ditka, is as you already mentioned. You left out how DItka made a colossal mistake with a decision about a player, that cemented his demise. Payton, unlike all the coaches you mentioned also made a fateful decision about a player that could also end up defining him even decades after his former Super Bowl glory.
      Now, Vermeil coached in TWO Super Bowls winning ONE, which places him a unique category along with Hank Shram, Cowher, and Tomlin…
      Ironically, Mike Tomlin whom has as many seasons as a Head Coach, with definitively greater success, has taken on Payton’s outcast. Seemingly, the two coaches have switched roles, as Payton now has a trio of quarterbacks.
      But who knows, maybe for the sake of all Broncos fans, Bo Nix will be the salvation, and Payton will still be around to see it through…
      Otherwise, Belichick is available…
      🤔

      @@superzero4250 I didn't forget to mention anyone. The purpose was not to create an all-inclusive list of coaches who fit into a category, which ought to be obvious. Second, you're forgetting that Payton is only 60. At age 60, Andy Reid, generally acknowledged as the best coach in the NFL at present...had 0 Super Bowl wins.
      Finally, the laughable idea that Payton drafting a QB at the #12 spot in the first round who he didn't sacrifice any draft capital to obtain by moving up, makes him potentially subject to being "defined"...let alone for "decades" as some kind of "fateful decision" is utter BS. Kyle Shanahan missed on Trey Lance & he moved up for him by sacrificing a huge haul of draft picks. Is he tainted for all time? Mike Shanahan missed on Jay Cutler with the #11 pick in the draft. Guess how many people mention that when talking about his legacy? Nobody.
      All coaches hit on some guys nobody expects & miss on others who were highly ranked. That's how pro sports works.
      BTW...I"m not a slave to the Bo Nix rhetoric as you imagine me to be. I question your objectivity here if you think Nix is going to make or break Payton or his legacy.
      I also notice that you have no answer for the question I specifically asked at the end of my response...so let's give that one more try;
      Who would YOU have hired other than Payton for this team that was mired in last place for 6 consecutive years? Give me the name of a coach Denver could have had who you think is better than Sean Payton, AND was available. And no...Belihick is not a real answer so you can't tap dance you're way out of this with that. He's ready for the home soon.

      @@MarkLewis-l3f Apologies, It read like an anthology of NFL Coaches. The DItka comparison was apropos, both won a Super Bowl, and see themselves greater than they really are. Plus, Payton played for Ditka, so I can see the influence… The Bears Defense carried that team, Buddy Ryan had as much to do with their success as anyone else.
      Payton had Brees, who was every bit the quarterback he was regardless of Payton. The Chargers still wanted him, Payton and the Saints offered essentially the same money, only more of it guaranteed, and an extra year. Also, drafting Rivers in the first round didn’t help either… Even Belichick got lucky with Brady, or Shanahan with Purdy. Mike Shanahan got lucky twice with Davis and Smith at the same time…
      I was NOT referring to the decision to draft NIX, that was a reasonable selection as any given the circumstances. They probably could have also picked him up in the third round. Brock Bowers was a better choice, and the Broncos could have had them both. Selecting Troy Franklin was a good move too, which should further Nix’s development sooner with familiarity.
      However, his tact with Russell Wilson, reeks of egomania. If Tomlin has success with Wilson, then it absolutely calls into question Payton’s credibility and player assessment. Especially, since it is at the Broncos expense, and a Broncos loss in week two only compounds the situation…
      As for who at the time, I had no objection to Payton becoming the Broncos coach. I just don’t agree with how he handled things. Firstly, Payton asked Wilson to restructure his contract, specifically his injury clause, which seems like a NFLPA issue. Secondly, if Wilson did capitulate, he would have STILL been the Broncos quarterback, they could have still drafted Nix in the third round, and Brock Bowers in the first… They could have even still acquired Zach from the Jets, because every move they made remained in consideration of Wilson’s contract anyway…
      A Broncos week two victory will go a long way. But make ZERO mistake, any positive strides the Steelers make coupled with Broncos missteps, is a nail in the coffin of a once storied career. Denver ain’t New Orleans, and no one knows how this new ownership operation works…
      🤔

    Let's not forget the geyser of idiocy that spews from the clown show of "experts" across the NFL is based on pure conjecture. The way these clowns make outright statements as if they are able to predict the future should make everyone who loves the game of football tell them clowns it's game over!! There is no possible way anyone could predict a positive or negative future for the Denver Broncos or anyone else! These predictions are coming from somewhere other than true knowledge about the game of football. The national media, along with 99% of social media related to sports, politics or anything else has become nothing but a fire hose of Lies and deceit!! Most Americans trust their gut and NEVER listen to anything propagated and echoed word for word by the national media!! The main purpose of American media is no longer to inform the American people! The main purpose of media is now is fabricating stories no matter how ridiculous to destroy the future and the reputations of all who do behave like a progressive sheep!! The one thing I do know is when the national media makes a claim or spreads a story, the opposite is almost always 100 true!! With that said, Denver will most likely have a damn good season! Once again, anyone who really understands the game of football and has watched the players that Denver has brought on board immediately realizes that this Denver team has the ability to be dangerous!
