I was having trouble with kickflips. I kept rotating my body and it just doesn’t feel good at all. Tried heelflips and they feel so much better. I watched many tutorials and a few mentioned using the pinky toe to flip, so that’s pretty much what I’ve focused on doing. I’ve only landed 3 sketchy ones over 3-4hrs of constant practice
My Heelflip tip: I like to set up my feet up for a fs 180 Pop the board high enough to where it flips but goes a bit rocket. At some point you wanna make sure there's enough room for your gooch or sack before you stomp🫶

I hang my toes off and flick with my heel, I have to turn my pop leg knee in a tad to get the board to stay directly under me. Weird but it works for me
I just started skating again after years of drug addiction I developed while letting my nagging ankle injury heel. Admittedly, I was mediocre for the most part, but once you skate long enough you'll likely have a trick that you do way better than any others to where if people saw you do that one trick they'd think you're better than you are. Mine was heelflips. The first few years they were pretty sorry, until one day I just figured them out. Mine were super high, spun fast to where you could hear the board smack the soles when I caught them. Also, it's the only trick that once I figured it out, switch, nollie and fakie ones immediately followed and were also good and consistent right away. When I got Tre flips down I landed the first fakie one I ever tried, but unlike heelflips I didn't get the nollie and switch lol
I always use my heel .. when I was a kid that’s how I learned n thought u was supposed to use heel cause the name lol.. didn’t realize until I got older I was so wrong on why it’s called a Heelflip .. lol 😂 I’m relearning them now actually still using my heel

I prefer to do them with my toes to and can get them much higher when you use your whole foot not jus your heel but it does bug me I’m not really using my heel.. I wish Mullen called it a anti clockwise flip or something then I wouldn’t care I’m not using my heel lol

Why? Looks almost like kickflip. Heel flip is the only trick I can do. I love it but the ultimate goal is to land 360 flip.

I always used the side of my foot more then the heel, slower but a lot higher
