Well done guys really enjoyed the video. I was born in 1955 and was living, with my parents at 5 Dean view until I was 5 years old, we then moved to the midlands, We moved because of the coal mining industry. My Dad, Brother and my uncle worked at Greenside colliery before moving. I can still remember High Spen, especially the "Barkey Bank". There was a field down the bottom of the bank (opposite what was the high school at Hookergate), the field used to have pit ponies in them, when they were let out of the mines, for a bit of a breather! I can also remember going to watch the cricket by walking through the woods to get there. Many an hour spent also at Sunday school at the local chapel. When I was at the primary school Mr Charlton was the headmaster in the 1960's.

There was also a brickworks here known by the name of BUTE, sometimes I find the odd yellowish fireclay brick, not to far away at Highfield there were coke ovens. Excellent video reflecting the villages past and an excellent piece of local history.
