Take it from a historical eschatologist, to only give a new, yet very old perspective, THEN don't take it from myself nor ANY other man. In Acts, Paul on the ship (representing His church, aka His people - not necessarily brick and mortar buildings with a board and hierarchy) and the ship is bound for ...Rome. 🤔 It goes through a violent tempest, tossed about and severely damaged by a storm called EUROclydon. Important as the church was being persecuted by the European head, Rome- which paganized Christian Rome never had a standing army but pitted one group against another in God's name and controlled kings through fear of excommunication and certain eternal hellfire. They only knew what they were told because scripture was withheld from kings and serfs alike. Hence whatever the papacy said was all they knew. Well the tempest got so bad, they had to start throwing all the tackle overboard (getting rid of all the excess garbage, traditions, programs and having ONLY the true gospel to lean on. Finally the sails and rudder were gone and the ship floated for days guided only by the wind (referenced as the Holy Spirit by direct action of God at the helm) The ship became broken up and folks stayed afloat by chunks of said ship as they held on (to that same gospel) for dear life. Not ONE who held on was lost. Maybe not this life, but life eternal. They washed up on Malta , the knights of. ...the jesuit military order of the RCC for the last 500 years. And friend, that's just one measly story covering Christianity , not apostate Christianity, from Paul to the second coming.
