This protein skimmer series is the most informative and detailed collection of videos on this topic... in existence!
The bubble machine demonstration alone is worthy of an award. The breakdown on how organics accumulate over time in the bubble column to form 'thicker' bubbles, and hence form a froth, was also illuminating.

      I agree
There’s really nothing else like this
Maybe all the people crapping on Ryan for being a shill have pushed him to produce really big quality content like this?
      🤔

Everyone knows that a skimmer is tuned to 440 Hz.

My skimmer makes alot of micro bubbles on the outside bottom ? What could be my problem? It's a new skimmer ?

How long should I wait when I first turn on the skimmer and put the bubbles at the middle of the neck? Everyone says to put it at that level but no one says if it starts foaming in hours or days, I've had mine for two days and it doesn't foam, I have the air completely open, I have the skimmer 23 cm submerged in the sump

One thing I have experienced with my skimmers (Royal Exclusive Double Cone 200 and Maxspect Aeraqua Duo600) is that whenever I carbon dose they quickly become coated with slime and performance rapidly declines, forcing me to weekly take the skimmer apart to clean the pump. This in the end means that for me in order to reduce nutrients it is easier to simply optimize the skimmer rather than doing carbon dosing. Maybe if you are carbon dosing you need to oversize your skimmer significantly to offset the impact in performance…

What to do when the skimmer only makes the neck slime and never goes over the top? I've raised and lowered the skimmer, same with water level in skimmer. I've written off the skimmer.

      Raise water level

@@Slimathyhustles Did all that. Raised, lowered, put a regulator on the air flow to tune it, ect. After the video, I think it may be because my water doesn't have enough organics. But thanks 😉

I understand all this, but I feel like it’s a little different tuning with a hang on the back skimmer and I never see any kind of content about hanging on the back skimmers mine skin half the time and half the time it acts up whether you add or subtract anything or do anything different, it works the very best after a water change and then slowly stop Working as well. It gets me very frustrated.
