    Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below on 2016’s failure and ‘Afterlife’s’ success, and if you think we’ll see a sequel or spin-off in a new Ghostbusters cinematic universe. I’d love to hear it and interact with your opinions. If you did enjoy this video essay, please leave a like and consider subscribing. This was my first video essay and I hope to have more coming soon, especially revolving around Ghostbusters. That will be it for today though. Thanks everyone for watching, stay safe, and have a great day. -Fennett

    You also left out that Afterlife figures couldn’t stay on shelves for 3-4 months after the movie came out, while 2016 toys were on clearance before the movie released.

    As a Ghostbusters fan I freaking love afterlife Such a Love letter to the Franchise Take some notes Paul Feig.

    • @oblongbox5110
      @oblongbox5110 9 месяцев назад

      I don't know what that love letter to the franchise nonsense means but I do know this movie was a Nostalgia grab with no substance. The Ghostbusters weren't even in this until the last 8 to 10 minutes. And why the hell with Paul feig be taking notes? He wasn't trying to make another original Ghostbusters movie, he was making a Ghostbusters that was his vision. I know everybody has their opinion but I have no respect for anyone who tries to overhype afterlife while trying to bury the 2016 remake. You you come off as very silly. Afterlife is not that great, it's damn sure nowhere near as good as Ghostbusters 1/2 l.

      @@oblongbox5110I’ll put it this way: Afterlife is just a better movie. It doesn’t mean it’s Citizen Kane but for the franchise it’s a good, well acted movie that continues the original story. The 2016 was a disjointed mess that had no semblance of a story, no likable characters to be invested in, god awful PS1 level special effects, and just absolutely cringe attempts at comedy. Add onto that manufactured outrage from the director and cast and that movie deserved to go down in flames.

      @rturner09251 I don't agree with you at all. But hey, you are entitled to your opinion. And this manufactured comment you made has no value, because I've heard people say they mostly don't like the 2016 version because it features a group of women who look a certain type of way and who they don't find funny. I mean go to any RUclips reviewer or any online review and you can see this for yourself. As far as the 2016 version not having a story that's quite laughable because it did.

    Simple answer; the fans wanted a direct sequel to the first two, rather than a mediocre at best reboot with a rather pompous cinematic universe plan.

      There was a Ghostbusters movie in 2016?????, maybe you're confused with a video game or something else in 2016, I don't remember any Ghostbusters in 2016, maybe because there's only 3 Ghostbusters movies in existence:
      Ghostbusters 1 in 1984, Ghostbusters 2 in 1989 and Ghostbusters 3 afterlife in 2021 and that's it, oh, and don't forget the video game in 2009, the TRUE Ghostbusters collection.

      @user-el3sh1xh3t Who said anything about Carrie Fisher or Harrison Ford? In BoBF a stand in was brought in for Luke Skywalker and they made him look exactly like Mark Hamill did in Return of the Jedi. Just use Mark Hamill's son, Carrie Fisher's daughter, and Anthony Ingruber as stand ins for deepfakes, use the AI voice technology, and then a Sequel Trilogy reboot is a real possibility. I know you'll probably say it's disrespectful to the actors that died, but they already did that with Tarkin in Rogue One and I think it's a lot more respectful than how they were portrayed in the shitshow we ended up getting.

    For me the 2016 Ghostbusters was political bull💩 to support the whole "women are just as good as men and can have the same success". Not saying women aren't just as capable as men but there's a right and wrong way to go about it, and the 2016 film weren't it.
    I can only speak for myself when I say I don't want a female version of male lead characters like Ghostbusters or James Bond. Forge your own path and create your own characters. Because if you just reboot male characters, all that proves is you can reboot male characters and that you're not as strong and independent as you claim
