Even though she was a tough person when it came to everyday learning, I still owe everything to April for giving me a chance at being a part of the best group in dci
I marched with April- she's a superstar. All the Cadets from Canada love April too...ehell everyone loves April. Good to see people rehearse in wear as much clothes as we did in the 80's!
April is part of the reason I am still involved with guard 25 years later. My girls are learning the same technique she drilled into me as a scared 18 yo walking into an Alliance rehearsal.
april we admire you, u have created a legacy... i know u love what you do, but u have believe that we love learning from you, thank you for the years of hard work to the color guard activity
GOAT 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐 THIS isn't the full story. I know there's a DCI vignette out there of her telling it like is. Something like, "I can teach anyone to spin, that's the easy part. The hard part is teaching them how to become great as a person." That's truly all that matters in the end. Love you APE!
She once threw deviled eggs at a girl who COULD NOT hit the correct counts for the last 32 of a show. She seriously threw like 100 eggs at her until she did it right.
I've heard crazy stories about her, but this video made me want to actually spin under her. A lot of things she mentioned are very very true. I think coming from her experience she would know!
In 1994, it was my age out year for BD. The cadet girls were finishing guard rehersal and did their free dance to "freeze frame". My friends dared me, so I snuck/jumped in. It was soooo much fun dancing with the lovelies. The blonde tech was instructing at that time, caught off-guard. I'm 100% sure if April was there she would have kicked my ass, all in good fun of course.
Didn't really care for this guards book and they were way too big, but there's no denying she's produced some iconic guards, especially in the first half of the 90's.

The ‘94 PBS broadcast w April & Jim Moore and that absolutely SICK guard. “Manipulating a piece of equipment is the easiest thing I can teach.”
April. You are amazing. Congratulations on being so faithful to the Cadets guard all of these years.

Where did she get 100 deviled eggs? Food crew must have been pissed.
