      Maybe iba kasi siguro naging family dynamics ng mga Yulo. Correct me if I’m wrong at such a young age napahiwalay si Carlos sa formative/ teenage years nya to train abroad, while si EJ na guide ng parents maganda upbringing andoon yung humility at gratitude, kita mo namang si EJ and his mom the way they talk may respect to one another and they are professional. In contrast si Carlos at such a young age eh independent konti lang siguro naging bonding sa parents and when he said something harsh sa parents, naki meddle pa ang gf, at very reactive ang pamilya ng Yulo at may same energy din yung gf pare parehong war freak hindi marunong mag hold back, walang solution but to stay away from each other. If I’m a sponsors kahit pa 5th place lang nakuha si EJ pero he is a whole package, I will hire him to be the face of my company kesa kay Yulo. And if I were Carlos I will hire an image consultant para ma improve image nya to make him more lucrative for years to come, hire a family lawyer para may cease fire at ma maintain image and when the dust settles salvage any relationship he has with his kin kahit man lang sa mga kapatid, be a bigger person.

    What a stark difference! EJ said his family cared for him as an INDIVIDUAL and told him things that he needed to hear and not the things he wanted to hear. EJ is 28 years old and those conversations started way back when he was younger. Truly admirable demonstrating not only maturity but also staying grounded and maintaining respect for his family. Mom is so proud and truly blessed to have a son like EJ. She admits to being overly protective and worries a lot for her son but EJ understands. God bless EJ and his family and may the youth of today see the importance of family. It is not a toxic culture. It is a value to be instilled for generations to come as this demonstrates our unique culture which exhibits love for our parents and the elderly. Only in the Philippines where we take care of the old, keep them happy and comfortable until their last breath. At the end of the day, it is all about kindness and respect and not selfishness and ungraciousness.

    • @28andee
      @28andee Месяц назад +12

      Living away from his parents/family and friends for a long time in a foreign land for training, he certainly had so many struggles. Pero hindi niya dinahilan ang "mental health" para hanapin sa kung saan-saan pa ang inspirasyon na kailangan niya because he is firmly rooted in his values and love for family. Truly a gem of a son and an admirable athlete.

    • @candybon101
      @candybon101 Месяц назад +6

      @@28andee People with depression do have these feelings of being persecuted for their beliefs and often misunderstood. They should be given understanding- however, the other athlete’s utter disrespect to his family is not the action of a person worthy to be admired. To think he allowed another person to disrespect his own mother is insane.

    • @28andee
      @28andee Месяц назад +10

      @@candybon101 What I mean is so many people nowadays -- generally speaking and not just a specific person -- often misconstrue the words "depression" and "mental health" and end up overusing it to the point of making it an excuse. Because really the gravity of one's mental health can only be properly diagnosed by a professional. But these days it's being carelessly tossed around as if it's a badge of honor or this easy way out of every argument that even the typical feelings of being sad or disappointed is automatically labeled as being depressed. And many young people today won't admit to this because they are making it their kind of an accessible shield, na pag hindi na nila madefend ang pagiging disrespectful or self-entitled nila or pag pinagsasabihan o pinupuna sila, napakadali na lang nilang sumagot ng, "Eh depressed ako eh!" or "Deserve ko 'to for my mental health!" 😬

    I think the support of Carlos Yulo's parents was the same parents with that of EJ Obiena. To find resources to give everything to their son to become what they want to be in the future. Tingnan mo kahit si EJ pala ay pinagalitan at pinatitigil din ng tatay niya, but he took it positively. Napalayo din naman siya sa pamilya pero hindi ginamit ang dahilang "mental stress" at isisi ang absence ng pamilya sa training. He really was humble, has a good character and love for his parents. Proud parent talaga si Mrs. Obiena.
    Sad to say, Carlos became the opposite when he got hooked with Chloe's influence. What a nasty thing to hear from him : " Ang magulang ay hindi niya responsibilidad. Pero responsibilidad ng magulang na siya ay pakainin at alagaan dahil siya ay anak."
    What the heck?

      Iba kasi approach ng magulang ni yulo kc hindi sila kagaya ng magulang ni ej na mukang educated at may finesse. Pero sa pagmamahal pareho yan mga nanay. Nagsalita man ng masakit si angelica kc naniniwala ko naprovoke sya. Never naman nya minaltrato si caloy. Ginawa lang dahilan ni caloy para makawala at makasama sya kay goldi.

      @@JmSphinx Tama. A mother is a mother no matter what. Depende yan kung ano ang nakayanan ng ina mo na ibigay sa iyo bilang suporta. I grew up in a poor family and my nanay only finished 5th grade and my tatay died when we were young. She worked odd jobs to support us and prioritized our education hanggang makatapos kami lahat ng college. I used to envy my friends with professional parents who seemed to be better in everything than my nanay only to realize that my nanay had to make do with what she had to provide for us because she didn't want us to end up like her- no education, no opportunities for success in life. She did her best and went through all the hardships just to give us a better future and not to make us her retirement plan. Kung walang pagmamahal and magulang e di sana hinayaan ka na lang sa kalye habang ipunin na lamang nila yung kita nila para sa pagtanda nila. It is up to the child to be grateful and just be kind. Now it is my greatest happiness and fulfillment to provide her everything that she needs in her old age. Nakakasaya talaga ng puso na mahalin mo ang iyong nanay at tatay. Enough of that "toxic culture" BS.

      @@Heavenbyyourside wag mo compare magulang nila. Kunga busado magulang bi caloy naging sugarol at di na yan sila nagwork. Pero mahal nila mga anak nila nakita mo naman angkikinis ng balatt. Kung pinabayaan sila eh di ginutom na yan pero never mo narinig na gutom si caloy habang nagpapractice. Oo bungangera mama ni caloy ganun naman mga nanay tlaga unless foreigner ka na mother like princess diana. Pero kung asian ka tiger moms tau. This interview gives us a glimpse what it takes to reach the Olympics; Their sacrifices that many of us don't know. Even in EJ's, his path to Oympics isn't smooth but all the challenges molded him to be the best version of himself. He didn't make excuses for not winning a medal. He was humbled by his defeat yet resilient not to give up. A true champion Indeed 🎉🎉🎉

    I have watched EJ Obiena at the Olympics pole vault competition and felt immense pride seeing him compete at the highest level. He was just shy of the podium, but sometimes it’s the judges' decision that makes the difference, despite equal heights cleared. I understand the tie breaker was determined by the number of failed attempts at previous heights. I know this is just the beginning for EJ and we're looking forward to see him reach greater heights of glory. He's truly inspirational and a well grounded young man. He's a person of excellence and a perfect role model for our youth.
