This class of drag vehicles almost reminds me of the Funny Car speeds I went to watch back in the years late 1960s - 1970s. Great drag racing on this video. Nice to see the win light at the end of the run.

Times are there in the classes that show times. The first class out was N/T or No Time. The rest of the classes have times posted.

1. They're built to last for only 5 seconds maximum, one run and it's rebuild time.
2. They don't use petrol. Instead, they use nitromethane-methanol mix that costs a fortune per a given unit.
3. Bugatti Veyron was engineered to be as fast as possible, while still maintaining the high speed and being comfortable at the same time.
Whereas, these dragsters, as amazing as they are, came from an antiquated engine design that dates back to the 50s.
Still cheaper than an average F1 race though.

I love the cars but hate races where they don't display ETs. I know its class rules or something, but IMO it ranks right up there with bracket racing vs. heads up all out racing in terms of a lack of excitement factor.
There’s only one class at this event that ran N/T. The rest all show times. ProMods are running in the 5’s at 230+mph.

@@byalpz N/T stands for No Time. Basically a heads up grudge style of racing. Nothing but a win light.

@@byalpz I know this is year after response, but ET is estimated time, and if you go over/under it, you lose. NT is no time, so it's head to head competition, which is more old school. When racing ET, the first at the "winning line" might lose, because the time wasn't as estimated, which might sound stupid, for whom as racing is who cuts the winning line first.

Let's go back to quarter mile racing for ALL classes. With numbers like these, Pro Mod could easily replace Funny Car.
At least the blower cars don't have stovepipes sticking 2 feet out each side of the fenders, and all that ridiculous bouncing and hopping on the starting line. Plus backfiring and popping.

True, at least ProMod is closer to the old saying - "Won on Sunday, BOUGHT on Monday!" the stock appearing car look is closer than FC has been for a very long time.

Doc's 959 cubic inch Monte Carlo doesn't have any problem with the backfiring, jumping up-n-down on the starting line turbo cars. There's no replacement for displacement /ci.
Well they are just about dominant in every class of racing so... Just like all the pro charge supper charge ect
Turbos are the better way. As far as the bump stop starting is concerned, those drivers for some reason aren’t using a smooth stage bump box. Must be a preference. I kind of like the variation. They seem like they can’t help themselves and just wanna race. I grew up watching mountain motor cars and will always have a soft spot for the sounds of those too.

I recently got into drag racing as I find it fascinatring but I miss following teams to have stories so you can cheer for your favorite car. A it is I just see random cars and knwo nothing about who won and what that means
Dr. Fish, let me open your eyes to a growing segment of straight line racing. It's called Drag and Drive events (RMRW, Midwest Drags, Drag Week, Sick Week, ect...) might be up your alley. RUclips SickWeek '22, grab a bowl of popcorn and a cold snack and enjoy REAL streetcars, some as quick as these guy's, driving their cars 200+/- miles on the roads between racetracks a day for a week. Yes, 1000 miles + and racing at 4-5 racetracks in between. You must carry all the parts, tools in your trailer or on a rack of your design, and your only help is whoever rides in the car with you all week.... You want stories and teams to get behind? As Tom Bailey described his SickWeek event (he actually set it up, promoted it, and competed in it but was out on day 2) "it's the HARDEST vacation you'll ever go on!

At 13:31 there is a vent coming up out of the decklid. Anyone know what that is? At first I thought it might be some kind of jetted continuous purge for a nitrous system but that seems to be a turbo car.
Turbos usually need a way to breathe some more than others. Most people with turbo cars hide the vents in the front clip and sometimes in the hood. Usually depends on turbo placement. It’s very common to see turbo cars have a regular set of headers as well as a turbo vent

They are going 1320 feet....the big boys quit running the quarter mile several years ago. Were going too fast by the time they hit the quarter.

@@ark-mark1 they get their own time slips. But it’s a grudge style of racing. Win light is the only thing that matters. Usually bets and money on each pass. Times don’t matter, just the win light.
