I'm the biggest LP fan out there and I must say, when all is said and done, we may all look back and say A Thousand Suns was there best record. Its a deep, layered story of all of humanity. Its the soundtrack to our plight; our inability to let go of the fears and hatred that will eventually lead to our demise. There are instances on the record that fight this notion as well as hopeful moments, but the beauty of it all to me is the resigned feeling to reality it brings. Love LP
@OffTarget Linkin Park doesn't know what a bad album is, but I agree that this wasn't their best. That is to say, it's a really good album, I just wouldn't pick this over Hybrid Theory, over Meteora, or over Minutes to Midnight (I'd pick this over Living Things though). So all in all, good stuff.
It's also usually misunderstood. The Prince doesn't become Death. The Prince wants nothing less than to become Death, because if he goes to war his friends will die and he will be hurt. Vishnu becomes Death to remind the Prince that he must do his duty to the realm, no matter how badly it hurts him or how small it makes him feel. Oppenheimer doesn't become Death. The Bomb, the Gadget, becomes Death. And Oppenheimer, its creator, is reminded that he must do his duty to end the war no matter how horrible it will be.
Damn, Linkin Park has changed quite a bit since I last heard them. I liked Hybrid Theory and Meteora for a while, but grew out of it so to speak. A few of the songs from Minutes to Midnight I liked, but again, grew out of that and away from Linkin Park. But now, discovering A Thousand Suns, they're winning me back. :)
OMFG this album it's just friggin brilliant!Leaving aside the fact that Linkin Park changed their way of making music...the message behind the lyrics...and the fact that most of the songs are about war, sadness, sufference, and also inspired from the second world war gives me chills * * LP=GENIUS!!!
Though it's autotuned it sounds pretty cool :) The first time I listened to 'the requiem' I couldn't believe that this is Mike's voice.. 'The Catalyst' which is actually derivated from this song,is of course a way different.. But well this is the reason why I love Mike so much,he's really pretty talented .. :D
As a fellow musician, I know how it is to create music, and we should highly respect them for trying to expand musical boundaries. If you continue to write music in the same way over and over and over, you don't progress...If you love music, then as a writer, or a band, you must always have that drive to progress, and become better.
Linkin park "For months we'd been destroying and rebuilding our band" "We Didn't know any of those unorthodox ideas could be incorporated into a traditional album, but we knew we didn't want our next album to be predictable." In summary They wanted to take a different approach to this album including more smooth and deep lyrics. It was more for them to show there creative music interests then making it for the fans. In short They will move on. So stop complaining. (Source: Linkin park album)
J. Robert Oppenheimer was regarded as the 'Father of the Atomic Bomb', as he was the scientific director on the Manhattan Project. When he witnessed the first Atomic explosion (codenamed 'Trinity' by Oppenheimer) he recalled the scripture you hear in The Radiance. What people don't know is that another passage also came into his mind: 'If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one'. Hence, the song and album name.
I absolutely love Linkin Park. I've been listening to them since they started up and Meteora is my most favourite album. Linkin Park has impressed me all throughout the band's career the evolution they continue to make is simply astounding.
Linkin Park has gone above and beyond expectations for me. This used to be my favorite band back when Meteora was the newest album, but I sort of moved on and started listening to different stuff, and apparently, LP did too. They've definitely come a long a way in the past 5 years.
Linkin Park put so much effort and passion into this album and all you "haters" care about is your desire for their old stuff. Not even thinking about how LP feels when they were in the process of making this album. Trying to "think out of the box" and being creative, music isn't just metal you know, none of you guys including myself have any idea how hard it is to make an album. So much stress and hard work, you know I truly respect LP for all the neglect they get from all you "haters".
So I took the AP world history exam today, and there was a question about the Bhagavad-Gita. The only reason I knew what it was was because of this song. Thanks Linkin Park.
People just don't understand what this music is. Yeah, we all loved Hybrid Theory, but a band has got to change, EVOLVE, to survive and prosper! And this song is beautiful, it's lyrics, its beats. And yes, I loved their old music, but I understand their new direction, AND I WELCOME IT!
The new Linkin Park album takes a few listens to get into, But when you cross the line into liking the music the album is one, amazing, Invention.. and this is one amazing introduction.. Linkin park deserve credit for releasing the album because a lot of fans expected rock stuff but they took a risk and im glad they did because this album is worth the risk.. LINKIN PARK WE LOVE YOU! hahaha
I watched them on Channel 4 last night ..they were talking about this album and they did say it was a risky move and that they themselves consider it as a concept album and should be listened to in it's entirety.I myself have never really listened to much LP but was advised by a mate of mine to listen to this album ...WOW what a brilliant piece of work both lyrically and musically hats off to them for taking the risk and evolving. Not many bands would be brave enough so credit to them
@Dozzer I'm doing a research essay on the Manhattan Project and happened to come along this video... I didn't even realize LP had done something with this... Good to see someone else (you) teaching people a bit about history!
The album is about a nucleur war/ fallout, if you listen, "a thousand suns" is kinda an analogy for bombs and the speeches by the guy who helped create the atom bomb, and "god save us everyone, we'll be burned inside the fires of a thousand suns" Is all about war. If you listen to the whole album in the dark it kinda scares the crap outta you. You literally expect a nuke to go off at the end. It's creepy but so musically amazing. LP forever!
the said that each song on the album was like a hallucination. personally im in love with this album i just cant go to sleep to it because it gives me nightmares.
@Dozzer Thank You! After listening to their album "1000 suns" I was curious about the gentlemen! :) Very interesting, I think I'll look into it more now :) Thanks Again!
I don't care what anyone says, I think linkin park is amazing and all of their albums always have something that appeals to me. And though the style of music in this one is different, I think it is so cool how their songs flow into each other like that. I also like how mike sings more. Catalyst is still stuck in my head.
god i still remember the first time i heard points of authority (the first song i ever heard by them) they impressed me then and now that im older theyve impressed me on a whole new level. its always nice to see the growth of a band along with your own growth. if you cant appreciate development and growth of an artist then thats just your own damn loss
they inserted the words of a scientist who worked on the manhattan project. it sort of set a tone for the rest of the album. atleast it did for me. for those of you who haven't learned what the manhattan project was yet, it was the code name America used on the creation of the atomic bomb. It was a dark project that changed the world, forever.
We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that one way or another. -J. Robert Oppenheimer
I wasn't too happy when I first heard the album, but after listening to it some more, it is growing on me and I'm really starting to love it :) ~LP Fan for 9 years now~
This is so awesome, I love all of Linkin Parks albums! The only song I dislike from this CD is "The Messenger", I still listen to it, but find myself skipping past it sometimes. GREAT CD overall though, LOVE IT!
The gentleman in The Radiance is J. Robert Oppenheimer, American physicist and scientific director of the Manhattan Project. The quote is in response to the Trinity Explosion, the first nuclear weapons test of an atomic bomb in 1945. Thumbs up for people to learn some history!
I'm a huge LP fan and I must say the first time I heard Waiting For the End I wasn't sure if it was actually LP but I liked it just the same. When I found their new album I was a little surprised to hear the considerable difference from their older work but again, I liked it! It's like a calm in the storm of their previous angst and battle in this life. Really quite beautiful.
@baller123xyz Well actually, if you watched some interviews about their new album. They said something that this was an experimental album, it's more something to explore the music world and expanding their knowledge about music, instead of sticking with the same old stuff.
@TheCityLightz: Requiem, follow lyrics, ends with countdown (I didn't hear that initially) so that's when the nukes go off = radiance; and Oppenheimer quote referring to said nuke(s). Burning in the skies then is about destroyed bridges (but more is destroyed of course), which we didn't deserve anyway with mankind in general being immoral, war-loving etc... Dunno about empty spaces, and when they come for me doesn't seem to be part of the theme, at least initially. Or I don't get it. :)
Honestly I think this is a great step for them. Something new is can be good for them. Like they said music is like candy its good getting more and more but after awhile you get sick of it and want something new. Something outside of the package something others wouldn't expect. I applaud them for something new.
I really love these three songs as a whole, but "The Requiem" is my favorite part. It's so gorgeous, yet very eerie and somehow disturbing. I listened to this around the same time that I educated myself about 9/11, and although the album is about human fear and nuclear warfare, the events of September 11th, 2001 will always be what I associate this album with. I really like that Linkin Park is experimenting with their sound. It would be really boring if they just kept doing the same stuff.
I loved their first 2 albums. However, I played through both of the albums 20 times before it got boring. Now, in 2010, LP has finally came with an album that's catchy and also very meaningful. Every single song is perfect. The album play count of "A Thousand Suns" in my iTunes library currently is at 49, and it's not getting boring at all. Haters please, if you choose to hate on Linkin Park now then either try and find out the true beauty of their music or just listen to some Sum 41 instead.
@nickmc454 They are all seperate tracks. They have "priming tracks" on every single one of their albums. Cure for the itch. Session. Opening (reanimations), and Wake... When you get the album you can just skip requiem and radiance. The reason they put those types of track is to outline somewhat the mood of the album.
This whole album is basically about the destruction human kind has created. This 3 songs are dedicated to the creation of Nuclear Weapons and Weapons of Mass Destruction. The guy talking is Julius Robert Oppenheimer. He made that speech on TV on 1965 about the nuclear bomb test codenamed Trinity.
The whole album has taken some sort of apocalyptic/post apocalyptic feel to it. The music is unique, 'cause I've heard nothing like it at all. The album is more artistic than the others... ok after hearing the whole album again and telling myself that this is not suppose to be like the others I really like it I love the new style with this one people need to open their minds to somthing original not copying somthing old
@devestation250 Actually, the girl that sings in this song is really in the band. I think shes a girl that someone in the band had gotten to sing in this album. but I agree with ya, she does sound awesome. xD
This song has the single most epic mindfuck of a intro i have ever heard. Ever. Period. Listen to it loud while high as shit with good speakers. Your mind will be blown.
I know a few LP fans that didn't like this album because of the lack of stand out tracks, But this isn't a track album, this is a concept album, this is something you can't play on shuffle, You need to listen from start to finish like it's one 47:56 long track to fully appreciate it.
To the people who are on here complaining how the new stuff isn't as good as the old, will you SHUT IT. They are always trying new things and if you could kindly notice that every album has a different theme that relates to things happening in the world. I know the old stuff is great but give theses new songs and album a chance and listen to the greatness that is LINKIN PARK.

So all in all, good stuff.
Agreed. It's their magnum opus. Their Mona Lisa.
Masterpiece.
The person speaking was J. Robert Oppenheimer, the quote was what he said when they tested the atomic bomb
Necras Sarcen yep
And it is consider the most emotionally broken and horrified a human being has even been recorded
NOW I AM BECOME DEATH
THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS
Bhagawat Gita shlok
It's also usually misunderstood. The Prince doesn't become Death. The Prince wants nothing less than to become Death, because if he goes to war his friends will die and he will be hurt. I went to their concert recently. They opened with The Requiem. Almost creamed my pants it was so good.
Yo wtf
Im sad that I'll never be able to see the original linkin park
Sh*t was so amazing he (almost) bussed.
The entire album goes together. Thus my argument that it's a concept album rather than just a compilation.
Nah, as much as I love LP, there are many such albums. Dream Theaters Metropolis Part II for example.
@@indiavanguardia266 he didn’t say it was the only concept album...
This Album is a "MASTER PIECE" ! ! !
"now iam become death, the destroyer of worlds"
truer words have probably never been spoken in human history
I will never not get chills.
Those words were taken directly from the mouth of a man broken beyond repair
Damn, Linkin Park has changed quite a bit since I last heard them. I liked Hybrid Theory and Meteora for a while, but grew out of it so to speak. A few of the songs from Minutes to Midnight I liked, but again, grew out of that and away from Linkin Park. But now, discovering A Thousand Suns, they're winning me back. :)
Had to come here after watching Oppenheimer

The first part gives me goosebumps
Btw, I love how certain lines get repeated throughout the album. Burning in the Skies and Fallout, Requiem and The Catalyst...it's pretty cool.
LP HAVE TURNED EPIC OF ALL EPICS with ths album! Every song is class!
As a fellow musician, I know how it is to create music, and we should highly respect them for trying to expand musical boundaries. in the requiem its chilling... the radiation like sounds, the speech, the clinching vocals....

This is ART
I remember when I first got the cd and I listened to The Requiem, by the end my heart was pounding and I felt cold. This album is unnerving.
The album is about a nucleur war/ fallout, if you listen, "a thousand suns" is kinda an analogy for bombs and the speeches by the guy who helped create the atom bomb, and "god save us everyone, we'll be burned inside the fires of a thousand suns" Is all about war. the guy you are referring is Robert Oppenheimer.
the one you hear in The Radiance.
Благодарю! 🌅 Скоро Рассвет и Воскресенье.
the said that each song on the album was like a hallucination. personally im in love with this album i just cant go to sleep to it because it gives me nightmares.
The quote from Oppenheimer made me shiver a little. This album is intense.
this song creeps me out (in a good way)
this album is growing on me. :)
"now i am become death , the destroyer of worlds"- j Robert Oppenheimer from the hindu scripture Bhagawat Gita
I love the end of that part...
"So what you can get from that is--- oh no wait I'm not done yet."
"Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of worlds... I supose we all thought that, one way or another..." Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer
Thank You for uploading masterpiece with High Quality
@Dozzer Thank You! After listening to their album "1000 suns" I was curious about the gentlemen! :) Very interesting, I think I'll look into it more now :) Thanks Again!
This song is creepily beautiful
I imagine seeing everyone being together when the end of the world comes and are enjoying their last few moments together...
I don't care what anyone says, I think linkin park is amazing and all of their albums always have something that appeals to me. Beaultiful Man. Bealtiful. Ty linkin park youve never disapointed me

these songs makes you REALLY THINK about where we are headed if we don't get our act together...
Whoa, I never knew they had a girl in the band :O she sounds awesome!!
they do now!
We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. it makes you to think it helped me to visit linkin park songs again
I wasn't too happy when I first heard the album, but after listening to it some more, it is growing on me and I'm really starting to love it :)
~LP Fan for 9 years now~
I love these three songs.
great job putting all three of these in one video, great for my morning run haha
This is so awesome, I love all of Linkin Parks albums! The only song I dislike from this CD is "The Messenger", I still listen to it, but find myself skipping past it sometimes. GREAT CD overall though, LOVE IT!

People who bash this CD really need to listen to it as a whole, and not just a couple of the songs.
I'm a huge LP fan and I must say the first time I heard Waiting For the End I wasn't sure if it was actually LP but I liked it just the same. Really quite beautiful.
This is amazing, i love the build up of the song. Linkin Park rocks and always will :)
thanks for this good version!! >_
Happy birthday A Thousand Suns !!!
Love it, linkin park is growing up, and I grow up. I love Hybrid, I love this :)
@baller123xyz Well actually, if you watched some interviews about their new album. They said something that this was an experimental album, it's more something to explore the music world and expanding their knowledge about music, instead of sticking with the same old stuff.

Dunno about empty spaces, and when they come for me doesn't seem to be part of the theme, at least initially. Or I don't get it. :)
just saw them yesterday in live!!
god they are amazing!!!
Honestly I think this is a great step for them. Something new is can be good for them. Like they said music is like candy its good getting more and more but after awhile you get sick of it and want something new. Something outside of the package something others wouldn't expect. i love this song!!! they do change and i like their newer stuff
if you stare into that black hole thing for awhile it looks like its moving forward... Love these songs!
bro predicted the future, the cover of this album is actually animated on Apple music.
I totally love this new album.
They've really stepped their game up :)
@nickmc454 They are all seperate tracks. They have "priming tracks" on every single one of their albums. Cure for the itch. Session. Opening (reanimations), and Wake... why you guys all hatin on this alnum? I love it. Its my favorite album ever. If you understand it, Its a lot better than you think
This is intense!
now that i know this is supposed to be like this video. very good.
:D everytime i listen to this song and hear the part where he says i have become death the destroyer of worlds i get like HUGE creeps :D love it
If they wanted money, they would have made the same shit over and over again.
well done linkin park, well done... truly a great album
the impact of the album doesnt fully come out until you listen to the songs in direct succession like this
This sounds GOOD!!!!
The whole album has taken some sort of apocalyptic/post apocalyptic feel to it.
The music is unique, 'cause I've heard nothing like it at all.
The album is more artistic than the others... Listen to the Requiem and The Radiance.
LP added it for a point. It's just a different type of art than the other albums.
Burning in the skies is nice. I've listened to many LP songs, and I only hated one.
No way I'll get a reply for a comment from 10 years ago, but which song was the one you hated?
For me the song I didn't like was A Line in the Sand, but this comment is 10 years ago, so Living Things hadn't even come out yet.
Best.Song.Ever. LP Forever.
I think it's good that they're experementing :)
ok after hearing the whole album again and telling myself that this is not suppose to be like the others I really like it I love the new style with this one people need to open their minds to somthing original not copying somthing old
@devestation250 Actually, the girl that sings in this song is really in the band. I think shes a girl that someone in the band had gotten to sing in this album. but I agree with ya, she does sound awesome. xD
@ruhlahan I can still listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora and not get tired of it. Those songs are timeless to me and only get better with time.
Love the old stuff. Admire and love most of the new stuff. Relax degenerates.
@IndigoCutie You're very welcome, spreading knowledge is contagious ^.^
This song has the single most epic mindfuck of a intro i have ever heard. Ever. Period.
Listen to it loud while high as shit with good speakers. Your mind will be blown.
I heard the whole album here... ATS here I come!!
i wish someone would make a whole song out of thhe requiem part, i would love to hear something like that
Its called The Catalyst
Listen to post rock bands
Perfection......
I know a few LP fans that didn't like this album because of the lack of stand out tracks, But this isn't a track album, this is a concept album, this is something you can't play on shuffle, You need to listen from start to finish like it's one 47:56 long track to fully appreciate it.
Goosebumps
My favorite album!
I like it!
This album has similar sounds of Hybrid Theory and some Meteora on some parts, but it's unique in it's own way! Go LP!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Göttlich!
