STRAIGHT playoff energy!! It was amazing to watch!
Thing is they've been like that since the 1st preseason game. This was a great area for a new wnba team. Golden state Minnesota new York Indiana Vegas all have great turnouts on a daily basis with Seattle as honorable mention. Would like to see Washington and Connecticut moved elsewhere tho.
Second WNBA I've watched and they were the highlight. Crowd was boosting that defense, love it
@taraatkins4823 I honestly dnt like the arena but I think Connecticut has made the most money of all the wnba team… so finically it wouldn’t make sense if they have a strong fan base. Also they don’t have any other sports teams in that state but college they just need to market way better like if they got Page it would be either for her college fans to go to her games … but it’s actually not a bad area to live either an you not far from NYC u can take the train. However I bet the taxes are dumb high which could make free agent players not wanna come. But I do hear you but the best fans come from big city like nyc,La, Boston, Seattle or small twn feel Indian an Minnesota.

Those seats were filled to capacity with PURPLE jerseys! proving that people show up in FULL for more than one player. That was ALL Valkyries fans - love to see it! Great grind out win!

Too early to say, the ‘brand new’ shine is all around the Valkyries and the fans, but looking good just now.
As for all the purple jerseys, well the ‘new team shine’ accounts for a lot of that, all I’m saying is they are doing well just now and hope they continue to hold the fans, but you need to be a few slices short of a loaf to think this early showing is the way it’s going to be.

If an expansion team can do this well in year 1, then it clearly shows the league has enough talent to have at least 16 competitive teams
It's easier than obviously the NBA for teams to make the playoffs and it doesn't take much for the power rankings to change in the league especially when teams are missing starting players due to injuries in the WNBA. Hopefully they will expand to a 15 roster spot in addition to more expansion teams sooner than later.🤔
Toronto and Portland are also on an expansion list on WNBA. Hopefully Boston should also have a WNBA team as well in the near future. 😊

Exactly. CC is great, but no one can deny that she kind of lacks hustle, especially on defense. The Valkyries go all out for every ball, every time. Fever got too comfortable with that lead.

Was rooting for the Fever. They were actually doing just fine, holding the reins in the first 3 quarters but by the 4th it was Valkyrie who remained more pumped up, poised and more hungry.
It was a sorry loss for my team, and a very deserved and good win for the GS Valkyrie lass.

The Valkyrie’s are proof of the state of WNBA’s health.
18K have come 6 times to watch people who were on the bench of other teams. Why? They sold 5 times prior to Clark? Why? Because people love great basketball. You don’t have to “star” to draw viewership just play the game the right way.
And when people said this last year it made it seem like basketball fans hated CC. But I’m so glad GS is proving what true fans always knew. There’s no hate. But the product was always amazing it just needed the right investment. The right owners.
Toronto is going to be exactly the same. That city loves basketball. I can’t wait to see pour out to support the team.

Remember, the Warriors brought us the fast game, Steph Curry, team play, championships, a deep bench etc. Obviously, management knows what the do with the Valkyries and are doing it. Besides, it’s a plus to have Curry, Green and others on the Warriors to bring in for advice. Four members in Europe and they still look great.

a very good game. solid competition. both teams played hard & relatively well. best thing about the game, no dirty plays or violent actions by any players. few WNBA games have displayed that this season. a lot of good perimeter shooting by both teams. GS got especially hot at the end, and sealed the victory with shooting.

People get fascinated by 3's, but mud-range is fundamental basketball. Everything can't be a 3 or a layup. Especially in playoffs.

@jamesanderson1179 CC is the typical HS player praised for her ability to hit the long 3, nothing else, and she bought into the best player hype (contributes no further because that is the way they used her). If she applied herself, worked on right-hand, and footwork, she could become a complete player and an asset to her team.
Right now, she just a 3 ball! Everyone hits logo 3s. They're low % shots, so coaches don't want you shooting them. She's made them popular, by shooting a lot of them. She doesnt make that many. Floaters require body control, balance, etc. She needs to add that to her bag... fade aways, etc.
She lacks in these areas. Post game.
She's 6'0 she should be able to post up most PGS . Her contribution is her skin tone. It doesn't matter how she plays, it's all about what the media has portrayed her as some kind of savior. The greater the defense is on her, the less she does in other areas of the game... stands there and get cooked . she's slow she'll never be able to stay in front of most PGs who are shifty and fast she's baby food

"Drama" will always follow Clark, because she is a constant whining drama queen.
Competing, scrappy, physical play, trash talking is NOT Drama ... it's part of the game.
I'm sorry, but at times the basketball was unwatchable in this game. Like the time there were four straight turnovers. The defense wasn't the reason, but bad passing and dribbling and catching the ball.
Deliberately trying to knock a player down with plays that can injure is not just being physical, it’s thuggery and would have be called flagrant fouls in the NBA with possible suspensions. This would not be tolerated in high school or college basketball or anywhere else. What the Sky did is not basketball, it’s schoolyard junk ball.
What we saw in this Valkyries/Fever game is hard played, fast paced,clean basketball that Golden State management knows how to produce against a team like the Fever. Their defense completely shut CC down. And some of their best are playing in an European tournament. This was the characteristic deep bench the Warriors are known for.
This game is what the fans want. Listen to that crowd. This is the kind of game Golden State fans knew they would bring to the Women’s team.
Get rid of the thugs, call flagrant fouls for what they are, and
Play basketball, and leave the drama and bs off the court.

Nobody in or out of the league - no fans, no players, no media - complained about any "thugs" until Clark showed up in league year #27 and couldn't beat the top teams nor win all the championships that Clark fans guaranteed she would win when she entered the WNBA.
Now that the lie about Clark being better than everybody else is being exposed, the lie needs to be covered up by blaming "thugs" and "the refs" from keeping Clark from not winning the championship every year like the media and fans desire. With Clark fans it seems like there will be a lame excuse to cover her ineptitude and shortcomings. Its always gotta be somebody else's fault because no one will ever admit - she just ain't that consequential a player. Clark fans will never admit the marketing promoters played them for suckers to grow revenues and the game. Understandable.

If they want her to improve her defense, they've to get it out of her head that her only role is to do that. It seems like she believes that more than anything else.
Clark don't want to play defense. She is more interested in padding her offensive stats and let everybody else play defense. She actually stands under the basket to get rebounds.

Valks bench completely outplayed Fever’s bench and they slowed down Caitlin on several stops too. Valks are the real deal and the best story in the WNBA. Golden State’s arena is loud rocking and LIT. Iowa Alum, huge Hawkeye, CC and KM fan. Great win for Golden State. Some thoughts on Caitlin . Stop whining about every no call and focus on yourself. Take better care of the ball. Not all of the turnovers are on her but she forces it sometimes. The Fever need to do a better job of helping get Caitlin open and I honestly think she needs a few more short breaks throughout the game.
I'm just glad that it was a good win by a team that plays cleanly, not like the dirty Sun.

Everyone has known this since her Iowa days. It's not like she hasn't been the primary strategic target for every opposing team for the last 8 years or whatever. But somehow few teams manage to actually do it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, depending on how the rest of the team is playing and the particular match-up. Sometimes it backfires actually.
