Even with the anchor scene in the anime it is still heavily implied the Zef ate his leg. Once Sanji realizes the bag was full of treasure and not food he glances at Zef's missing leg
I will say that the scene of Sanji at the auction house in the manga, I do believe that Sanji had a plan. If he used the money to pay for her, he would be able to set her free immediately afterwards without a fight happening. Especially since there were World Nobles present as well. This level of thinking is shown a couple of times. After reviewing the clip. Mr. Creator, please don't be make such a hasty statement. Sanji fans are more dangerous then Zoro fans.
The anime is still better in that scene. If you have to go through hoops to explain something then the intent wasn't clear.

So they claimed that Mr. 3 use a fleet of ships as an obvious trap at the main port to Alabasta, but Vivi noticed it and had the Straw Hats avoid the port.
The Japanese version of the anime does start with Shanks and him saving Luffy. It also shows his self stab.

In volume 51 on page 201, when they are entering the auction house Sanji is saying something like "Nami, can't we not also...?" referring to the woman sold there and getting kicked by Chopper. (Excuse my bad translation, I have the german copy and there he is saying "Du, Nami, können wir die nicht auch...?")
I’m starting to think I need to restart One Piece from the beginning of the manga. This has revealed that anything before Skypiea has become a mushed fever dream of 4kids, subbed anime and manga content
