    Franky Zapata uses a flyboard to zoom in and out of the water and leap through the air. Looks pretty incredible. Who else wants to try to this out? Report by Jeremy Barnes.

    I think this actually proves the practicality of an Ironman type jet apparatus. I thought it could be clumsy to control in real life but this guy just proved it's not that hard with proper training.

    The thing they don't show you is what is on the other end of that hose attached to the back. I think you have to have a jet ski follow you around and it's motor provides the power? None of these vids explain how it works. It's still cool of course, but what would be amazing is if it were self-contained.

    • @Nemoticon
      @Nemoticon 10 лет назад

      If you watch the end of the video, you can see that the hose is attached to a small floating pump that is just dragged along with you as you 'fly' around. Of course, if it was self contained it would be better, but it appears to be an independent, modular system which is close enough. It does look batshit-crazy though!

    • @williammueller6639
      @williammueller6639 10 лет назад

      Capt Nemo if either of you think this could ever be "self contained" to somehow hold all the water you would need to run it for even one second, much less several minutes or hours, you might want to sit down and rethink the problems involved here. Start by googling: "How much does one gallon of water weigh?" ;-)

    • @Nemoticon
      @Nemoticon 10 лет назад

      William Mueller The system doesn't have to 'hold' water. Simply pump it, exactly like a jetski does. It's the same principle, only more compact and you don't sit on it. You ARE in the supply of water that you need, so why hold it? The system would still be a self contained unit.

    • @williammueller6639
      @williammueller6639 10 лет назад

      Capt Nemo Except a jetski is not able to lift itself "up to 30 ft in the air" slowly... hence the need for the floating pump that must remain in the water at all time. If you want to ditch that but keep the functionality, you must bring the water 30 ft in the air with you.

    • @Nemoticon
      @Nemoticon 10 лет назад

      William Mueller Fair point - I accept that, for sustained lift, I agree. Other than that, it could still do much of what you see this guy doing in the video if it was self-contained. But to be honest, I think it is cool the way it is. I didn't make the original comment on it being self-contained btw, just entertaining the idea of the OP. It still looks hilarious fun though.

  • @callmeishmael3031
    @callmeishmael3031 9 лет назад +4

    Pretty cool, but it has absolutely nothing to do with how dolphins swim, and they certainly wouldn't let you come anywhere near them with this thing. Why do they bother making the association at all? The dolphin bunk is a waste of viewer time and video space.

    It's a not a tail but pipe that if I'm held correct, it's attached to a jet ski/boat and that's where all the pressure comes out of

  • @nilok7
    @nilok7 12 лет назад

    You can if you attach to the outboard of a jet-ski. Just like how the Water Jetpack works, but in the Ironman setup.

  • @aramanon

    The look on his face when he faceplants into the water is enough to say now. If he he can hook up to a massive mains cable, a scuba would not be too much you'd think

  • @evilparadigm
    @evilparadigm 11 лет назад

    It is very likely there is a quick release mechanism and a safety crew nearby. Product designers are (usually) not that short sighted. I think a guy who designed a jet pack figured out some simple safety precautions.

    The pipe - not cable - is connected to the jet-ski, which powers it. The price they quote in the video doesn't include the jet-ski, also.

  • @Femroe
    @Femroe 12 лет назад

    The long tube on the end I believe is the very source that sucks in the ocean water which is also what you use to propel yourself around, so I don't think that's possible
