Recipe: Perfect Baby Back Ribs on the BBQ
    Ingredients:
2 racks of baby back ribs
    2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup BBQ dry rub (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup apple juice (for spritzing)
    1 cup BBQ sauce
    Dry Rub (Homemade):
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1 tablespoon paprika
    1 tablespoon smoked paprika
    1 tablespoon garlic powder
    1 tablespoon onion powder
    1 tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
    1 teaspoon mustard powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    Instructions:
    Prep the Ribs:
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This can be done by sliding a knife under the membrane and pulling it off using a paper towel for grip.
Rub the ribs with olive oil to help the dry rub adhere better.
    Apply the Dry Rub:
Mix all the dry rub ingredients together in a bowl.
Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub, pressing it into the meat.
    Prepare the Grill:
Preheat your grill to 225Β°F (107Β°C) for indirect cooking. If using a charcoal grill, arrange the coals on one side. For a gas grill, turn on only one or two burners, leaving at least one burner off to create a cooler area for indirect cooking.
Add wood chips to your smoker box or directly onto the coals for a smoky flavor. Hickory or applewood are great choices for ribs.
    Cook the Ribs:
Place the ribs on the cooler side of the grill, bone side down. Close the lid and cook for 2-3 hours, maintaining a temperature of around 225Β°F (107Β°C).
Every 30-45 minutes, spritz the ribs with apple juice to keep them moist and enhance the flavor.
Wrap the Ribs (Optional Step for Extra Tenderness):
After 2-3 hours, remove the ribs from the grill and wrap them tightly in aluminum foil. Before sealing the foil, add a little more apple juice for steam.
Return the wrapped ribs to the grill and cook for another 1-2 hours.
    Finish with BBQ Sauce:
Unwrap the ribs and place them back on the grill.
Brush both sides generously with BBQ sauce and cook for an additional 30 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize and create a sticky glaze.
    Serve:
Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side and enjoy!
    Grilling Tips:
Control the Heat: Maintaining a consistent low temperature (225Β°F) is crucial for tender ribs. Use a grill thermometer to monitor the temperature closely.
Smoke: Adding wood chips to your grill will impart a delicious smoky flavor to the ribs. Soak the wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes before adding them to the grill.
Spritzing: Spritzing the ribs with apple juice or another liquid helps keep them moist and adds flavor. Do this every 30-45 minutes during the initial cooking phase.
Wrapping: Wrapping the ribs in foil (the "Texas Crutch") helps tenderize the meat by steaming it. This step is optional but recommended for extra juicy ribs.
Resting: Allow the ribs to rest after grilling. This lets the juices redistribute throughout the meat, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist.
