In light of his passing yesterday, I'm gonna sit here tonight & listen to Charlie and have a drink with his brother Jack RIP Charlie
jonEbeeGood great idea 💔
same here. He was one cool dude!
I love Charlie Daniels Band
its his he can change it all he wants.love it
Charlie wears some bad ass hats!
Maybe it does change the meaning of the song... To you. This long haired country boy is on a new level, we know he gets drunk and stoned, that's all most care to know about this song. Maybe that wasn't the point in the first place
Now that's a cowboy hat.
A lot of our politicains need to take notice of this song
Legend Charlie Daniels yeah!! One uf our best ,music is forever ,love it !!rip great Charlie Daniels ,
is it just me or does his hat get bigger every time the camera cuts back to him
I believe, feel original lyrics are. If he, precious Charlie decided to sing these words iis his prerrogarritive alone. It is his song, his feeling after all, then, I do not know. As far I am concern, I am for the original lyrics all the way
Absolutely!
Wow this is a totally neutered version of the song. The lyrical changes he made make no sense in the context of the song. Why would people think a person is crazy for getting up in the morning and getting down in the afternoon? "I will tell another joke" isn't quite as bad, but still not as good as the original lyric.
Definitely prefer " but I will take another toke..". BUT...Charlie can sing his jam however he chooses! RIP Mr. Daniels.
I swear done went changed the lyrics and the drums.... dang it son spit that sht out brother....remember no show jones? he didnt even show up....SANG THOSE LYRICS..im goin back to the travis tritt version
He's the man
Wow, this guy still has it, i bet jesus wants him up there to play and sing for the heavens lol.
The lyric change is who Charlie Daniels is. You don't like it ......tuff! Us REAL CDB fans dig it!!
The reason why he changed the lyrics is because he was Christian
no... Charlie got religion and apparently he can't even sing about getting drunk or stoned...
no there isn't ...but apparently that is why he changed his lyrics...
The world should be like that. I aint askin for nothing
The great thing about the old lyrics was also that they went beyond any (back then) stereotypical standpoint at the political spectrum. Now it's more standard conservative lyrics.
I get up in the morning, and get down in the afternoon??
Why though... **I get stoned in the morning, and get drunk in the afternoon**
Age my friend hes religious now
Cool
GOD bless Charlie Daniels
I always knew it the 'old' way, too, and liked it...but I agree that it's Mr. Daniel's song, and he can sing it however he chooooooses. He's ALWAYS stood up for this country, whether 'they' liked it or not. I'll stand up for him.
Love me some Charlie, always have and always will. If you don't like the way I'm livin' well....you get the idea =)
The hat.
Charlie has been singing this rendition of the song for over 20 years so get a grip.
Queria ser baterista do Charlie Daniels.
Não precisaria de mais nada na vida...
anyone have an idea why he changed the lyrics ?
At the time he wrote the song drugs weren't such a problem as they've become in the last several years. He didn't want to sound like he was promoting it agreeing with the use of drugs and alcohol. I personally respect him for it. Plus at 83 years old he still does a show with enough energy to blow the roof off the place
love you, love you forever!!!!!! ya better leave this long haired country girl alone!!!! heeheh
I don't want much a nothin' at all but I WILL TAKE ANOTHER TOKE
Love Charlie Daniels. Charlie's always done it his way. Glad he's still doing it his way!
@radiorobasoar lots of people on stadge change the lyrics alot in concerts

Charlie Daniels.....out of words beside Holy Shit!
Charlie dropped the stoned and drunk
Sorry, ".. it is his prerogative.."

He's a bible beater now.........
I was going to see him but I will not go. Ye devill beat charlie down
NOW " CHARLIE,HE DA-MAN"
Sing it right.
An excellent vocal performance and tight band! Love it!
Lets all make the day count
Will Charlie Daniels pass ,sorry ,Rip one of our greatest an good man too
heck yea
R.I.P.Taz
I wouldn't mind the lyrics changes, but 1) they're lame and 2) they change the meaning of the song. I mean, why wouldn't people leave alone someone that gets up in the morning, gets down in the afternoon, and likes to tell jokes? Silly. Still a great song, but it loses much of its edge with these lyrics. Oh, well, there's always: /watch?v=bs4y5si8DGs
ya! chee hooo!
RIP, brother Charlie. See you in Heaven!
This version makes me want to puke.
