Has anyone figured out what exactly he does between 6:45 and 6:50. He goes to the top view selects all of the edges and it appears as if he uses a some sort of keystroke which modifies the mesh.
At 6:32 the video cuts out the part you're referring to. What he does is he Detatched those faces (in edit poly mode) you see hidden, and how they became hidden is by pressing Alt+Q for Isolate mode while the other faces (object) was selected. At end of video, he exits isolation mode.
