    You have to remember that Earp was getting long in the tooth
    by the time he hit Seattle. He no longer had the backing he had
    in Tombstone, the zenith of his career. Virgil was down to one arm.
    Morgan was long dead. The members of his vendetta ride were
    gone or had run out the clock. Bat Masterson had gone to New
    York City. Warren died that year.
    Wyatt was very lucky to make the Dexter play. And he didn't
    gamble that much, but Josey terror.
    You do nice work.

    Discretion is always the better part of valor. Maybe when Wyatt left Seattle his wild and woolly days were behind him. Besides if he had a money machine in Nome why push your luck.
