It makes my heart hurt the way people can treat other people.

There is no doubt he has roots there. The resemblance is very visible.

So tragic to learn that this travesty is STILL occurring. Makes me angry and very sad. 😢😡

The children were talented. Such a concerning situation. Sad. A chance at schooling and care now.

I can trace my English ancestors back to the 1500's. I don't know the specifics of my Irish ancestors but I can trace that heritage by the last names listed on censuses.
We owe the descendants of slaves that history. We need dedicated individuals to test DNA, to go thru every record kept. To go to each country in Africa to learn and document the history of each culture.
African Americans shouldn't have to pay people to find their history, it's a debt that should be paid for by the US government.

Why should the government pay? They were captured and sold by other Africans.

That must be awesome to be able to trace your family back so far. My family hasn't been able to yet and I really want to know lol

Parents selling their children into slavery......😢2023

Poverty caused parents to sell their children. It still happens, in democratic countries, now, too. It's stunning to see slavery all the way back to the beginning, which was, and still is, poverty. Horrific.
