2023 04 10 CYPRUS - AKAMAS PENINSULA

Akamas Peninsula is one of the least inhibited placed on the island and it is area of great beauty - rugged coast, dirt tracks and footpaths easy to explore. It used to be firing range for British Army and today is protected nature area. Near the place where the mythical Aphrodite splashed about with Adonis (Baths of Aphrodite) the nature trail starts and follows the coast to Fontana Amorosa. From that place it is easy to switch to Aphrodite trial which climbs up to Moutti tis Sotiras (370m) which offers stunning view of the coast providing the opportunity for the explored to gaze at the astounding panoramic view of Arnaoutis Cape, the town Polis Chrysochou and the forest of Paphos. The forested extent is characterized by its rich natural world such as the pine trees, the endemic and migratory birds, serpents and mammals such as the fox, porcupines and hares which are classified as rare protected species.
