  • Can quantum computers solve problems in quantum chemistry exponentially more efficiently than classical ones? In this talk, based on joint work with Matt Hastings ("Optimizing Strongly Interacting Fermionic Hamiltonians", arxiv.org/abs/2110.10701), I discuss the optimization problem for fermionic Hamiltonians, the SYK model, and new classical and quantum algorithms.

Another kick-ass lecture as usual Ryan! I did not expect I would ever get (even an illusion of understanding stuff) related to quantum chemistry. The presentation beautifully lays out the coolness factor of our theoretical CS constructs like Lovasz Theta function. Also, I find it intriguing that there are, as of yet, no known classical algorithms to certify \lambda_max(H) being large!

Can we go over the details of this problems and code it on more python scenarios for RiggettiSdK for example

Now, I feel I am too young and uneducated to watch this, however, some day I hope I will come to this comment and edit it.
