Mas francamente entre nós brasileiros não entendemos isso...mulheres bem tratadas mas presa para terem filhos,um atrás do outro..chega ser desumano..será k ainda é assim.. .ou isso é só fantasia...
The historical reality is much worse- emperors would have hundreds to thousands of concubines confined in forbidden city, many never even spent a night with them. On one hand, they would live in luxury while the average woman wouldn't know where their next meal would come from and worked to merely survive, but they had no freedom and much less power than these drama characters have. Reality was much harsher than this for all the people except the emperor. But 400 years ago I imagine Brazil was a difficult place to live as well, I don't know enough to speak for your country, but the US was certainly no paradise for human rights and quality of life. Not that the US existed really, Europeans were still committing genocide and colonizing everything they could. I think it's wrong to judge based on modern society. I'm glad this is unthinkable, but history is unflattering for most cultures if you go back far enough. Compared to European royalty, it's no better or worse.
