    I imagine you are aware of this, but this diamond is a great example of the "OWLS" design. Owls = One Way Low Speed. . There is another one like this installed where OSR (former CP St. Thomas Sub) line crosses 2 tracks of CN at Woodstock Ontario. These diamonds allow CN to operate at full track speed while the lesser line is restricted to 10 mph over the diamond. You can notice how the OBRY trains lift up slightly on the little hump over CN. These diamonds (like lift frog switches) actually lift the wheel flanges on the lesser (or diverging route for switches) lines .

      DiamondMaster2.0 got much much more under my channel as well from Fall of last year until earlier in 2020 before we went into lockdown. Only a few crossings left before I would have covered just about every one in the major city of Brampton!

      Well according to the news article which I actually show at the beginning of this video I made last December.. looks like the OBRY will sadly be meeting its final demise by Dec 31 ruclips.net/video/18T6GT5_Dk4/видео.html
      Train still runs Tuesdays and Fridays, on duty in Orangeville yard at 0700 so still got about 9mo left to check OBRY off your bucket list!

    Haven't been to Brampton for so long I forget where this diamond is located. If the pandemic ever ends I plan to visit and want to photograph this spot. Can you remind me where it is please ?

      Steve 100 main intersection is Railroad st and Park st, if you search that up on google maps using the satalight view (street view will also work but I suggest satalight because it gives you the best perspective on where things are in my opinion) you should be able to find the OBRY line litterly 10 feet away as it goes directly parallel to park st for that one block and from there as soon as it crosses railroad st it then immediately hits the diamond since the Halton Sub goes directly parallel to Railroad st for several blocks. One block east down Railroad st from the diamond is where you’ll also find the major downtown Brampton GO/VIa Station.

    Is this line going to be abandoned? Do trains still run here?

    • @NscalefromOntario
      @NscalefromOntario  3 года назад

      Yes, the 36 mile Orangeville Brampton railway short line stretching from Orangeville to Mississauga ON (and passing through Brampton) is currently filed for abandonment with Transport Canada as of late last year (2020) and all operations along it are ‘currently’ said to cease entirely by Dec 31 2021.
      -Anddd that’ll make the daily Halton Sub GO, VIA & CN Freights as the only remaining trains left to see at the Brampton Diamond by the ‘well known’ Railroad st…

      @@NscalefromOntario That's sad :( I will probably go a couple of times while the train is still running.

    Endangered?

      Only somewhat but as I stated in the description, with all the on and off talk on the township of Orangeville wanting to discontinue their railway to tone down their losses, if it happens then the 333 local will be running no-more and therefore at the end of the decade, the Brampton Diamond may be no more as well, only the 2 tracked Halton Sub will remain in the spot. But only time will tell
