Yeay, been waiting for this! Starting my internship soon in March so this really helps. Please continue to make videos about internship as well. Thank you so much, hope your channel continues to grow 🥰
Will do..thank you for the support..I will be doing a live podcast soon all about my experience completing an internship in Australia & q+a at the end. Keep an eye out for that. Will be advertised soon on our socials.
Thank you doctor for sharing this information. I am an IMG from the Caribbean and a PR in Australia hoping to do my internship PGY1 but a lot of videos I see discourage me . Watching your video I have hope that my doors are not closed as I have a family here to take care of daily
It's hard to get one but not impossible especially if you have PR.. your chances are higher! I know, IMG platforms are full of negative experiences- I know it's hard but internships are possible, there just aren't as many
English taught MBBS program from China is 5 years + 1 year of compulsory internship. Most of the students only graduate after the completion of total of Six years. So, are we supposed to do other year of internship after passing the AMC exams?
Hello Doctor; watched the video, it was great. Thanks for the info. As a bit of personal aside, I am a US citizen who went to Caribbean medical school, clinically trained in the US, graduated and took all USMLE (Step 1, 2, 3). I do not have any ACGME experience. Is it possible to find an internship position as this type of candidate? I am just starting out so relevant visa, citizenship for Australia and etc. are not completed, though all of my ECFMG/EPIC forms have been validated. Any help is appreciated.
When she says PGY2 she means PGY2, 3, 4..... until you get a registrar or principal house officer position. They can work independently and are thus there are more of these positions. Interns require on site supervision.
Hello! I am a fresh medical graduate from the philippines. I’m a dual citizen (australian & filipino) and was wondering if being an aussie citizen would help my chances of doing my internship in australia despite graduating from a foreign med school? Would really appreciate your response
I have a question please I have finished my mbbs this year from Russian university and here we don’t have internship year they wrote in our certificate that we complete amount of hours as ( practice ) and I can’t go back to my country , I have two questions 1. Do they count this ( practice ) as internship year ? 2. If I passed amc 1,2 and oet but I have no internship and haven’t been in residency training program is there any chances to find a job or it’s waste of time? Thank you
Hello im looking if i can potentially get an internship in australia as an aussie who is currently studying in ireland. I think im eligible to apply an internship in WA without the AMC exams but how can i get an intern placement number?
Check out our website www.codeyouaustalia.com go to search for a job. Click on each state- it will go straight to their job page for that state. Find the intern campaigns..each state has their own website and own application.
Hi there! Just wanted to ask i am an Australian citizen who graduated from a degree in Medical science from UNSW and completed my medical degree overseas. Are my chances to getting an intern position better than when compared to the other IMG applicants?
hi doc! it was great listening to your podcast. Would be glad if you could tell me, whether clerkship which is usually the last year in some countries like the Philippines is accepted as an internship in AMC? And what would be your suggestion- to do internship if required here in the Philippines or in Australia. Thankyou doc!
Hi! I know many that have come from the Philippines. Clerkship is your internship. No issues with ahpra accepting it. No need to worry if you are from the Philippines. If you are located in the Philippines, I would suggest completing it there as internship positions are hard to get simply because there aren't that many positions for IMGs. After intern year which is pgy2 and onwards, there are a lot more positions
Hi Doc , i have completed my Doctor of Medicine from Ukraine But I don't have my internship . Can i sit in AMC exam and complete my internship from Australia?
Good morning Doctor, 1) Can a foreign img without an Australian PR or citizenship do internship in Australia?? 2) To obtain a provisional registration do we need an internship certificate?
Hi thank you for your video. It’s very informative. I have a question. Are your chances of getting an internship in Australia higher if you have a citizenship?
Yes absolutely! And if you are in the country. It will 100 percent work in your favour. Reason being: intern positions for IMGs are usually very last minute positions. A local has just withdrawn from their intern position 1 month prior to starting. So admin, want to hire someone that can start asap meaning someone who has to just wait for ahpra registration once the forms get submitted. that is already a lengthy process that admin don't also want to complete or wait for visa approval. So citizenship, PR, or a visa with full working rights will make you the preferred option over another IMG who doesn't have these things.
Good evening doctor i am nikhil sudarshan kaushik i have graduated from Mkhitar gosh Armenian medical University Armenia my nationality is Indian i completed my intership in Armenia and get a degree from Armenia now in India we have rule that those who completed their medical education from abroad they have undergo screening test fmge then they again want to do intership in India but my question is that if I want to apply for job in Australia i again want to do intership what are process plz tell me mam
Hi Nikhil, To understand the process head to our website www.codeyouaustralia.com Click on work in Australia And read up on the standard pathway We have a step to step explanation on how to start the process to qualify working in Australia And then how to search for a job. Internships are extremely difficult to get and they are usually given to IMGs who are living in Australia. So securing one abroad will be extremely difficult and not something I recommend. It's best to do an internship somewhere but it sounds like you have already done one in Armenia. So you should start the process of AMC 1, english test and apply for pgy2 2 roles i.e junior doctor jobs.. Keep up your recency of practice however. Even if it means working in Armenia for 3 months every year.
hello. if i graduate from my mbbs abroad in june, is it impossible to do amc cat right away and manage to get internship right after without missing a year and without a previous experience? or is it possible?
Internships are harder to get simply because they only have enough for their local graduates plus a few extra..so if you miss out on internships, you have to wait for the following year. iMG processes always take longer than you think, I would lower expectations as things won't go super smoothly , there are always gaps waiting etc
hello dr ! iam from india . Studied my medical degree md in Russia . which is equal to mbbs in india . i am yet to register in india not cleared FMGE exam in india . but iam now working as a critical care physician in icu as a junior consultant . 9 years of experience in ICU . done a certificate couse in critical care and diabetes . my internship is pending .. because i studied in Russiqa . ! i wanted to apppear for AMC . what is the procedure ? sir please help me out ! lot of confussion regarding amc for IMGS . i needed to do intership ? or i can Give AMC ? even i dnt know about if iam eligible for amc .? NEED YOUR HELP
Ok,.try to understand this..so if you worked as an ICU consultant., at some point you must have done an internship somewhere else ?? So if this is the case you don't need to do an internship in Australia. You should sit for the AMC, and apply for senior resident medical officer roles and potentially registrar roles
Regional and rural. With internships, you are relying on the local grads or international students who graduated from an Australian medical school to decline or withdraw from their job offer. Generally this happens before or after Christmas and before the intern year begins. It happens because they decide they want a gap year OR they have a regional/rural intern position but last minute got a metro position ( which most local grads prefer) so then the regional/rural becomes available. Look at Tassie, regional Queensland, WA-kalgoorie like places, regional Vic and regional NSW. Still can obtain an intern position in metro areas but generally these are because of sheer luck ( right place, right time)
thanks! Also do you know anything about Internships in Papua new Guinea? My calling is to "Serve the underserved" and they only have0.1 doctor/1000 residents vs Aus 4.2/1000 and St Kitts 2.6/1000. @@codeyouaustralia
We have a video on english exemptions. Listen to that as we go through the criteria. It depends. Did you do all your high school in Australia ?
