Hello im from Serbia (ex Yugoslavia), you can use that bayonet as a hammer by putting the ring in the scabbard of the blade, and use the scabbard as a handle. You just must be careful not to hit your self with the blade when you hammering.
Have 3 of these so far. One Romanian, one Bulgarian, and the pride of my collection, my authentic Izhmash produced Russian bayonet that bears the famous arrow in triangle on the sheath and the top of the grip. A knife just as reliable as the gun it's attached to.
I just got one of these and I’m looking for what the hook in the spine side of the guard is for, If anyone knows please respond to this comment, I’d love to know
Putting a pipe over the sheath or the handle when using it for wire cutters will give you more power (same idea when changing a tire- put it right over the tire iron & you can put a lot more muscle & weight behind it in a safer way).
Laglemamu'g Gjiga'qaquj Why not have a Leatherman in your pocket & a small Swiss Army Knife on your keychain? That way, you at least have a good pair of tweezers.
I carry a Leatherman wave on my hip everyday it's super handy and I can't believe how I could have lived without it. If you get the EOD black coating it will leave some extra so you need to wipe it down once you get it or yours hands turn black but once a the extra is cleaned off from manufacturing it's perfect and doesn't come off at all. Not even the saw blade has lost its coating and I have been using it heavily over the last few days. Also it will be slightly thought from the coating but if you get the regular silver I don't think you will have any problems what so ever. I also have the molle sheath and it works great. It has a pocket inside so you can get the extra bit set if you want.
I have one of these my father gave me. He got it during Desert Storm. An Iraqi soldier had taken his underwear off, and tied it to his rifle, waving it over his head, along with dozens of others doing the same. It is how they surrendered. The weapons were confiscated, and all of the bayonets ended up as war trophies. I actually have 2 of them.
The blade in not bolted to the handle...you can simply remove it by pushing out the cylindrical plastic piece in the center of the handle...Greetings from Yugoslavia!
You should start doing more "How to make" videos again, they were really great, and i have done them all. If you would allow a little suggestion, you should try making a bulletproof vest. They are fairly easy to make, but a great thing for SHTF/Survival.
I have a unused Soviet bayonet in brown/orange plastic in mint condition. And a Yugoslavian near mint condition. I am ethnic russian myself so proud to have them in my collection. 🇷🇺🇸🇪
The steel end cap is actually made for hammering. On the type 1 bayonet you just had a round end of the grip, so when soldiers used it as a hammer they broke the grip of their bayonet, that's why they added the steel end cap on the type 2. Also, since both parts of the wire cutter are not isolated, it will produce a bright flash and a short circuit that could melt away parts of the bayonet if you cut an electrified fence with one positive and one neutral wire. I read about this in a NATO-manual some time ago, but i did not try this with my own AK-bayonet, so i cannot confirm it.
People often forget that spears are the most versatile melee weapons. They require very little technique, and offer great range. The only reason people stopped using them is because feudalism changed standard battles into sieges.
the round part between ga dle and knife is not just to go over the barrel, cuz ither wise they just not out it there..its puspose is to be use as an anchor ,attach a rope thro it throw it and it will catch and anchor itself
Has anyone figured out what the little hook shaped thing at the end of the hilt/handguard is? It's right behind the saw part of the blade if anyone sees what Im talking about. Not entirely sure what that does. Also I figured the saw could be used to maybe make shaving for starting a fire.
The bayonet scabbard also fits into the side of the front sight assembly on my Romanian WASR, and the "bottle opener" part hooks on to the upper part -- I'm assuming as some kind of adjustment wrench.
When you "holster" the bayonet, which side of the blade is supposed to go onto the bottle opener side? (I want to know do I have mine the correct or the wrong way)
The blade is not full tang, or at least it is not on original bayonets, so you can cut wires with electrical current in it. note that also the sheat is insulated by plastic.
It's funny how Americans actually copied the Soviet design when it comes to bayonets. The M9 bayonet has all the same features, albeit bigger and more Rambo-ish.
PMC I agree. It's just funny how the American armed forces are always portrayed as the superior force in every way, yet they quietly and thoroughly copied many elemental things, like the bayonet, from the "backwards and underfunded" Soviets.
