Hi Michael Great tips for sure as i love bream fishing. Could i ask what rig setup you had on this day.. Looks like a heli rig, is that a safe rig setup. Thanks Regards jay
Hi Jay, It was a Heli rig, which bud prefers at range for big bream. The feeder is attached at the end of the mainline using a snap link with two Stopz locking a quick change swivel (to which a hooklength is attached) above that - this can be moved closer or further from the feeder easily by sliding the Stopz up or down. It isn't free running but it is safe in that if the rig was to break above the Stopz for whatever reason whilst attached to a fish... snag or unforeseen damage. Then the hooklength would pull off the end of the rig ensuring the fish isn't dragging a feeder about.
Hi Michael, I'm intending on fishing Willen next week if this rain ever stops! Are there any pegs you would recommend please? Looks like you were on the east bank close to the road. Is that accessible from the road or do you have to walk all the way around South side of the lake? With all the cold water going in recently would you fish further out than 50m? Would you also go for fishmeal & micros or a more traditional cereal groundbait with caster, dead maggot, corn, etc? Apologies for all the questions but I'm new to this style of fishing & it's a long trek to MK, so want to give myself the best chance possible. Many thanks, Paul
Micheal, cracking bream them, reminds me of them slabs in the trent near Home Pierrepont. who controls the fishing there? is it fishable on a day ticket or do you need to join a club?
hi.. are you fishing at willen lake or wooden lake as i cant find a fishery with that name? I would really like to catch a 10lb plus bream.. hence my question.. many thanks.
Hi Roger, "Having a good chuck around with a lead is always a worthwhile practice before commiting to a swim. I just use a 1oz lead and chuck where I think I want to fish and drag it along the bottom once it's landed. I can then feel the sort of bottom I am fishing over, whether it's amongst rocks or whether i'm chucking into weed should I snag or come back with a lot on the line." Hope this helps
Never figure out British fishing ....don't know why you'd bother....bloody old carp and these bream ....Catch saltwater black bream said "brim" and you'll know all about it ...Southern hemisphere fish are much much better ...A black bream is half the size but ten times more fun to catch ...they go deep , run you wide , pull like a train ....not these ...
Nice one Michael , nice and easy to understand. Gotta get me some of that bait booster 👍
Good simple advice from a good angler.

Did you catch anything other than bream? I fished near that peg this week and had some nice roach and 3 nice tench before the bream moved in.
Brilliant Video! Please can I ask what Rod and Reel setup you were using? Many thanks
Hi Robert,
Michael fished a 12'6" Distance Master teamed up with a 520 Extremity Reel 👌🏽
I live m.k and they are great lakes, fish it alot for pike and some big fish in them to lakes.
Lovely venue and the average stamp of fish is unbelievable!
whats the ideal temp for bream?
what distance were you feeding and fishing at?
Hi Michael, we’re you on north or south lake please. Is it far to walk as myself and 2 friends are now 68 and all got dodgy knees 😆
Cheers John 👍👍
Looks a bit intimidating. Where is the best peg for bream. And where do you park? I might give it a try at least... Cheers

Milton Keynes Angling Association (MKAA) Control the fishing and day tickets are available for £6 on the bank 👌🏽🎣
How far out did you fish Michael?
50 metres 👌🏽
